  • Here's hoping Michell O sticks a boot up those vapid cheeseheads

[Read the article: Why is Walters talking about Hillary Clinton's backside?]

I'm sure she'll smile and play nice, saying a bunch a sweet nothings about what kind of underwear her husband wears, but I can dream can't I?

  • How many points are you McCain concern trolls getting on McCain's website?

[Read the article: Clinton suspends campaign, endorses Obama]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Are those points redeemable for anything?

Since y'all support McCain and his war so much, I wonder what y'all are doing here on these boards. Enlist! There's still time (100 years, according to McCain)!

  • This article expalins it much better than Alex could

  • You had me at "shuddering, lurching and stumbling..."

    You lost me at Madonna.

Always a pleasure, Ms. Paglia. Even when it isn't.

  • A wasted effort

The people who suspect that Obama is a "secret" Muslim have already decided they won't vote for him, and no amount of your latte-sipping elitist "facts" are going to change their minds.

Independents and Democrats will be completely turned off by this smear.

  • "A man of peace..."

[Read the article: Conservatives angry at Bush over his statement of regret]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

I LOL'd when I read this line. Wow. The nerve. As if we aren't supposed to notice the daily flood of information coming in implicating that the President and his cronies were licking their chops waiting for a chance to invade Iraq, even before the 9/11 attacks.

    Man of peace, my ass.

  • So what you're saying is...

[Read the article: Polling the polls]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

...we should prepare ourselves for another huge disappointment come November. I hear Vancouver is lovely, by the way.

Pardon my cynicism. 8 years of Bush has clearly taken it's toll on me.

  • Newsflash: Men and Women are interested in different things!

[Read the article: Men, talk among yourselves]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

I know. I know. this is very shocking news, but the reports keep coming in and I can ignore them no longer.

My girlfriend couldn't give less of a shit about politics, baseball, or the Big Lewbowski, and it bores her to no end when I talk to my friends about this stuff. Conversely, I go cross-eyed when she starts talking about shoes, so-and-so's relationship with what's-his-name, and reality television.

    Film at 11!

  • C'mon, Salon. Stop with the deleting.

As long as the posts are openly disrespectful (cussing, trolling, libelus), then there is no reason to remove them, even if they are critical of Russert.

To do otherwise is a disservice to his journalistic legacy.

  • Oops. Typo.

[Read the article: Russert dead from apparent heart attack]

    I meant, "aren't disrespectful"

  • Russert was a top-notch journalist, and will be sorely missed

That said, his softball interviews of W. made me so angry, they made me throw a shoe at my television set.

I just kept wondering, "What happened? How did they get to you, Tim?"

Still, his legacy will not be this. It will be his years of service to the truth.

  • Anti-intellectualism is celebrated in America

[Read the article: Turns out, advertising stereotypes men too]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

And nowhere is this more evident than in circles of macho white guys of all ages. It is everywhere. We celebrate and cherish our stupidity, even to the point of electing a complete moron president because he embodies the King Idiot we wish we could be.

Any man who speaks in shades of gray, complicated and nuanced concepts, or uses words that have more than two syllables is branded an "elitist" or a "faggot," and that really is all there is to it. When I was beat upon by a group of bullies in 5th grade, I still remember one of them telling me that I "probably never made a 'F' in my life." (It was true. After that, in my adolescent desire to be accepted, I thought that failing would help me be liked by the cool kids. Turns out I was wrong. All I really had to do is start using drugs and not care about "faggy" things like current event and politics).

American men have felt this way since before it was cool to make all male characters in commercials have cases of mild retardation. This anti-intellectualism is not caused by these commercials. They pander to it, and I'm sure they are making a killing doing so. If men want to stop being portrayed this way, perhaps we should start valuing education, and if you don't believe me, look at men in cultures that do value education. You know who they are. Their kids are the ones that are actually doing their work while your kids are trying to score beer and beating up the "faggy" kid.

    Yeah. It's personal.

And as a result, many of them seem to be backfiring on the GOP, and reinforcing the public's view that the GOP tends to attack first and think later.

  • Dumb move, Obama

[Read the article: Is Obama moving to the center?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

It's his "dread liberal" policies that have inspired scores of young people to vote for him and donate money.

After his FISA capitultation, I worte his campaign and told them I will not be donating to them again. Granted, my donation was relatively paltry (not by my standards though), but it was the first and only time I've donated to a candidate.

Try to get this through: Obama can win on his liberal credentials. They are what inspire us cynics who gave up on the system long ago to actuall get out and vote, and there are enough of us to win the right candidate the White House.

Obama's move to the center is very disappointing, and is nothing short of a betrayal to the millions who were inspired by him earlier.

Call me silly, but I believe that women are human beings who deserve the same treatment as men. Perhaps I've got that white-boy-on-a-soap-box arrogance you refered to.

Here are a few ideas: Perhaps the Muslim world should stop blaming women for violence against them, or even implying it by dictating what they can and cannot wear. Perhaps many of these countries should consider actually enforcing laws against honor killings instead of giving guilty male relatives a slap on the wrist and a wink. Perhaps many of these countries should stop stoning women for adultery or restricting them from leaving the house with a male that isn't a relative. Perhaps then the rest of the world will stop viewing their treatment of women as barbaric.

In the meantime, I thank Ms. Clark-Flory for keeping us informed about what is going on over there.
