Messiah
[Read the article: Does Obama have a lobbyist problem too?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Funny, the only people refering to Obama as The Messiah are those who are critical of him.
Nice strawman arguement there, guys.

Wait...didn't Ricky Martin "endorse" Bush too?
[Read the article: Livin' La Vida Clinton]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]One more thing Clinton has in common with our favorite chimp in the White House.
Between flag-burning amendments, support for th war in Iraq, and this, it's getting harder and harder to tell the two apart.

[Read the article: Does Obama have a lobbyist problem too?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I've seen nothing from you but snarky one line quips meant to illicit laughter, not discussion.

The ultimate irony: "Feminists" voting for McCain
[Read the article: Blow-back from Clinton supporters hurting Obama?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]The pro-war, anti-choice candidate who called his wife a "trollop" and a "cunt" in front of reporters in '92.
That's some good feministing there, guys.

Hillary as VP
[Read the article: Blow-back from Clinton supporters hurting Obama?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I think the "Driving Miss Hillary" joke that was made on the Daily Show last night pretty much sums that ticket up. It's hard to imagine Hillary being happy with 2nd chair violin, and Cheney has set a new precident that she could eaily fall into.
I did not vote for Hillary for many GOOD reasons (having nothing to do with her gender, believe it or not). Having her as VP obstructing what Obama wants to do in favor of her own agenda is unacceptable to me. If, as some people here are saying, it must be a female VP, there are many other capable women out there who aren't Clintons. (Claire McCaskill, maybe?)

@lister
[Read the article: Blow-back from Clinton supporters hurting Obama?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]The voters who avoided Obama for racists reason are nominal. I agree with you on that.
However, I think many of Clinton's votes were based solely on her gender and her last name, and it will be damned near impossible to satisfy the more bitter of those voters. From what I've seen, they saw her candidacy as their last chance to put a woman in the White House, and they are furious that this chance is slipping away. The charges of sexism against Obama are ridiculous, but it makes those bitter Clintonites feel righteous in their anger and it has a better ring to it than sour grapes.
What Obama can do to bring them back into the fold I haven't the slightest clue. They will be picking through everything he says and does to find validation of their charges, and as with anything you search hard enough for, they will find it, even in the most innocuous of places.
The ultimate irony of course is that they will be crowning McCain, the anti-choice, pro-war candidate who called his wife a "cunt" with the presidency.
Here's hoping that fact will start to sink in when tempers start to cool.
Never underestimate the Democrats' ability to shoot themselves in the foot.

@Shawn
[Read the article: Blow-back from Clinton supporters hurting Obama?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Obama hurt himself. He wasn't qualified. He couldn't wait. He declared war on his own party and engaged Republican lobbyists and the most vulgar people on God's green earth to launch the most despicable campaign ever had.
Ahem...Operation Chaos. The Clinton's giving interviews to Rush? Does any of this ring a bell?
The Clinton campaign turned ugly when she started falling behind. If you missed this, you are blind.

Shawn, you're contradicting yourself
[Read the article: Blow-back from Clinton supporters hurting Obama?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]You said in an earlier post that Obama has "declared war on his own party" and is garnering his support from Republicans. Of course you didn't back that up with anything. You're a troll. Why would you?
Now you are saying, It's been clear that nobody wanted them except blacks and liberal eggheads for months on end and that he had no chance in a general. Again, with nothing to back up these charges (I'm neither, by the way).
So which is it, Shawn? The Republicans or the blacks and liberal eggheads? Can't have it both ways, I'm afraid.
-
Shawn, again with the accusations, but nothing else
[Read the article: Blow-back from Clinton supporters hurting Obama?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]you and your ilk thought you'd just give the finger to the real base of Dem supporters: working women and shove this inexperienced unqualified thug down our throats through lefty-left caucuses and rightwing media.
I gave the finger to working women? Really? By caucusing for Obama?
You make charges like this, with nothing supporting these statements, and then say I'm the troll?
I'm done feeding the trolls. All I've heard from you is a bunch of childish name-calling.

[Read more letters about this article: Here]Bob, you're the wrong person to be giving lectures on selling out.
How are you doing otherwise? Brittany Spears and Pepsi still giving you a hard-on?

This race will never end

Racism and Sexism were both present for these primaries.
[Read the article: Ferraro wants study on sexism, racism in campaign]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]The biggest difference was that the Clintons played the victim card (sexists make up a very small minority of the electorate), and Obama decided to wisely ignore the racists (who make up a very small minority of the electorate) and press on.
Hillary's tactic has backfired. It worked on nobody. The people who are behind her now are her die-hard fans who would have followed her to Hell if need be.
Who wants a perpetual victim as their president? 4-8 years of kvetching and shifting all blame on those who are persecuting you? No thank you. This is not strength.
Hillary and Ferraro need to stop crucifying themselves and show some spine. It's hard to respect someone who constantly portrays themselves as a victim.

Clinton supporters offered a choice
[Read the article: Ferraro wants study on sexism, racism in campaign]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]a) Sour grapes: anti-choice legislation, more deaths of American young men and women Iraq, a candidate who called his wife a "cunt" in front of reporters
-or-
b) Obama, one fo the most progressive viable candidates the Democrats have offered
It's unbelievable to me that they'd choose option a). Teaching the Obama-boys a lesson is apparently more important than getting our judges seated on the Supreme court and the lives of American service men and women in Iraq. Just freaking unbelievable.
You say it's just 4 years of McCain, but that betrays a very selfish and simplistic worldview. A lot more is at stake here. If you can't see that, there is simply no helping you.
