Glad Clinton has finally retracted her earlier endorsement of McCain
[Read the article: Campaign roundup]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Finally some signs of sanity. This primary has been ugly, but Clinton really took the cake with that one. She's such a sharp and measured person, I was frankly shocked that she said that McCain would make a better leader. Probably one of those stupid off the cuff remarks everybody makes they wish they hadn't. When I do that, I piss off my girlfriend temporarily. In her case, it was broadcasted to millions of people.
I'm glad she has come out and called for unity in the party. No matter who we support for the Democratic nomination, we can't lose sight of our real opponents.
-
So I read the title and knew exactly who wrote it.
[Read the article: Is Obama really standing up for gay rights?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Psssssst, Alex. Your bias is showing.
-
OK, let's really look at what Rev. Wright said in his contentious sermon
[Read the article: The return of the Rev. Wright]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]What did he say that was wrong? OK, the bit about the US government spreading AIDS was a bit crazy, but the rest of it is documented and true.
-CIA pumping drugs into the ghetto? Check.
-The 9/11 attacks coming as a direct result of US foreign policy in the Middle East? Check.
-America is an arrogant, racist, empire? Check.
Why aren't we hearing anything about this? Why is the press in such a rush to condemn Obama over this without really looking at what the Rev. said? And more curiously, why are Clinton supporters, presumedly leftists as well, condemning him as well? Seems to be the height of hypocracy to me.
-
Silly black man. Don't you know this is America?
[Read the article: The return of the Rev. Wright]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]We don't want our religious leaders to teach us the history of our communities or give realistic motivations behind the 9/11 attacks.
We want them to preach manifest destiny, blame homosexuals for 9/11, and teach us to hate people who are different from us.
-
Goodbye, Salon.
[Read the article: What should Obama do about Rev. Jeremiah Wright?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I've finally grown sick of your fixation with non-issues and sensationalism. I don't care if that's what being covered by the other outlets. I used to come here to get away from that. There's still flashes of true insight here, but those moments have become few and far between.
Adios.

@Patrick Morgan
[Read the article: Reviews: "Grand Theft Auto IV" will change your life]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]You can say the same thing about books, movies, and television, so unless you refuse to indulge those escapist pleasures, you should STFU.
Thanks so much.

Salon t-shirt idea
[Read the article: Miley Cyrus: Daddy's little hurl]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]So the t-shirt itself will be "broadsheet pink" and the text reads:
"Dads are stupid. Throw rocks at them"
Y'all can have that one for free.
-
I dunno. I'm sick of this scandal du jour shit, but it DOES seem like that's what he said.
[Read the article: What did Mickey Kantor really say?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]And it would keep with the Clinton campaigns general cynical attitude that the typical American voter is too stupid to think for themselves. The pandering, the soundbites, the stupid attacks, the whisper campaigns, her "tough" stance on Iran are all evidence of this.
One of the things I like about Obama is that his speeches, particularly the important ones - like his race speech - are nuanced and hard to break into 10 second soundbites. It's almost as if he thinks we are capable of thinking like intelligent people.
I'm not saying I disagree with Clinton's cynicism - shit, Bush was elected twice - but it is nice to hear a politician address me like I'm an adult.
-
I stand corrected
[Read the article: What did Mickey Kantor really say?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]The word from the "War Room" director is that the footage was doctored. I'll take his word for it.
My bad.
(by the way, I'm not saying this because of lolcait's immature attacks).
-
"Obama supporters have no credibility. They're either braindead cultists or scumbags who hope their candidate wins by excluding voters."
[Read the article: What did Mickey Kantor really say?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Wow. What do you say to childish insults like that? It reeks of sour grapes.
You paint with a very broad brush, lolcait, and you do your candidate a disservice by acting this way. Do you have anything besides attacks like this?
-
I'm no economist
[Read the article: Voters freaked about economy]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]...but I still don't understand how we can spend money we don't have and expect to come out in the end with a healthy economy. Cut taxes, increase spending. That's like leaving your $35K desk job to work for $6/hr at Arby's so you can buy a BMW.
I don't get it, but I'm a simple man, and my learnin ain't too good.
-
Well, she's using all the right words so far.
[Read the article: Clinton responds to gas tax attacks]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Let's see, we've got vague references to lowering taxes, some talk about Jesus, gettin' tough on them brown ferners what hate America in the Middle East. All she needs to do now is cry over a fetus and the American people will flock to her in droves.
Will done, Hillary. Just when I thought you couldn't pander anymore, you do this.
"Me voter! Me hate taxes! Me want money for free. ARRRRGH!"
-
Considering the push polling Clinton surrogates have done in this election
[Read the article: Voter suppression in North Carolina?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Is it really that much of a stretch to think she's behind this?
-
Rush's "Operation Drag-Out-the-Dem-Primary" is in full swing with this article.
[Read the article: Quote of the day]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Yeah. Conservatives like Hillary. Right.
Their strategy is so transparent. What's shocking is that so many Hillary supporters (ahem...Alex Koppelman) seem to be buying it hook, line, and sinker.
Well done, guys. You are now pawns in Rush Limbaugh's sick game. How does it feel?
-
Haha. Will Hillary start talking about a vast left wing conspiracy now?
[Read the article: Night lands Clinton closer to oblivion]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Her supporters sure are.
I'll explain this once more for those of you who still don't get it. MI and FL knew what the consequences were going to be if they defied the DNC and moved their primaries. They did it anyway. Now they face those consequences, End of story. Clinton agreed not to have those delegates seated when the rule was made, so it's absurd for her to try to paint herself as a victim now, or as herself as the champion of all these "disemfranchized" voters. Do you see the hypocracy there or am I going too fast for you?
-
Has Carville called him a traitor yet?
[Read the article: Clinton backer McGovern now wants her to drop out]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I'm interested to see how the Clinton camp responds to this. Have they learned lesssons from their ridiculous Richardson and Gabriel Guerra-Mondragon responses, or they try to paint McGovern as a Judas?
-
Good advice, Cary
[Read the article: My husband doesn't want to have sex with me]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Since we're at Salon, I'm sure their will be a chorus of harpies urging the LW to leave her husband. I'm glad you resisted that.
-
Congressman that ho?
[Read the article: "Crank That (Mike Gravel)"]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]OK. I laughed.
