my boyfriend thinks I "should" get paid for "defending Obama." He thinks I should write in to Obama's campaign & ask for dough.

I have to say though that I'm relieved sometimes to see Uncle Fester and Hutman defending Obama along with me. I don't suppose there are retrospective campaign salaries out there waiting for any of us. (?)

    But one can always dream.

They might if anyone actually took people on these forums seriously, but alas they don't. No minds are changed here. It's just a bunch of dogs in a kennel barking back and forth at each other from across their cage aisles. One big dog barks out the talking points, and all the little dogs start yapping along ad naseum.

big dog: WOOF! BARK BARK YAP!

little dogs: woof! bark bark yap! woof! bark bark yap! woof! bark bark yap! woof! bark bark yap! woof! bark bark yap! woof! bark bark yap! woof! bark bark yap!

It implies that Clinton is so set on ensuring that Obama doesn't get the nomination, not only is she willing to take extra-ruthless steps, but in the end neither she nor Obama win the gold.

And this is exactly her intention IMHO. She ruins Obama's chances in the general election (and her own), and then has another go in 2012.

The question is, who will be left to vote for her then?

  • What did Rev. Wright say that was really that scandalous?

-The 9/11 attacks can be directly tied back to people who were trained and funded by the US government (like, oh I don't know, Osama Bin Laden, for instance).

-It has been well documented that the US government pumped drugs into poor black neighborhoods.

-It has been well documented that the US government performed all manner of fucked up experiements on the African-American community (Tuskegee, anyone?) And that's just the stuff they owned up to!

Is it really that much of a stretch to see why a black man of Rev. Wright's generation would say "God damn America" in answer to someone else's hypocritical patriotism? Were's the disconnect here? If you don't understand it, at least read a fucking history book. Save the fake righteous indignation for someone who doesn't see through you.

The camp's refrain deliberately misses the point: that just because she has somewhat racist views does not mean that she is not a person worthy of respect and love.

    Yes. This.

That was the danger of the speech he gave. It was layered and nuanced to the point that you really couldn't sum it up with some bullshit soundbite or bumper sticker. His opponent however could cherry pick things out of context to try to smear him though.

Given the collective IQ of the American electorate, which do you think is more effective? The long, nuanced speech or the quick damning soundbite?

I think the Clintonites here have answered that question already.

I thought I'd make things easier for all you hard-working and trolling War Room Letters folks. Your welcome. Here's the template:

All of _________'s supporters are ____________, and need to pull their heads out of their asses if they don't want eight more years of Republican domination. One letter here attacks my candidate as being a ____________ and a ___________. Is this really the level of discourse that _____________'s supporters have sunk to? They need to look in the mirror and realize that ___________'s (insert latest "scandal du jour") has pretty much destroyed their candidate's chances, and stop attacking ___________ for the non-issue of (insert their candidate's latest "scandal du jour") which has already been addressed countless times here to satisfaction. Calling us __________s, __________s, and __________s only strengthens our will, and of course no supporter of my candidate would ever stoop so low. Remember, we are all Democrats and our ultimate goal is to put a Democrat in the White House, as long as it isn't __________ because frankly __________'s supporters have completely turned me off of their candidate.

If _________ gets the nomination, I will be voting for McCain.

I guess she's been too pinned down by sniper fire to comment.

    "Get to the CHOPPA!"

  • Hillary, I see through you.

It's pretty obvious by now that you are still in it to spoil Obama's chances in the general election so that you can step in in 4 years for another run.

My question is, who will be left to vote for you in 2012 after you've wrecked left the Democratic Party in ruins and pissed all the independepents? Prior to seeing how low you are willing to go, I was ready to vote for any Democrat who got the nomination. Now if it's you, I will stay home from the polls, which I suppose is better than voting for McCain, as you have pretty much urged your supporters to do. Thank God you don't actually have a chance of winning the Dem nomination so I won't be put in that situation.

  • Jeez. I really need an editor.

Now I am not saying this because I have anything against Obama as a potential president. I have a problem with him as a potential candidate. We can not have a referendum on America's comfort level with a black president be what decides whether or not we have a war-mongering dementia case in the White House only one stroke away from putting an even scarier fundamentalist nutjob in the office. My faith in humanity is nowhere near there yet.

I hear you, but that referendum is coming whether we are ready for it or not. I agree with your assessment of humanity, but they will never change until some pioneer kicks open the door and forces them to start considering it seriously.

    History isn't kind to pioneers.
