Sonofloud is correct
[Read the article: Hillary Clinton throws economists off the bus]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Obama says that the gas tax break will leave the treasury without needed funds... I guess you'll never see a tax cut from him, if that's his atitude.
He seems to think that the only effect a gas tax cut will be thaqt soccer moms save a little money running errands. It shows ho out of touch he is.
Everything, and I mean everything you touch today traveled on a truck. The clothes you wear have a component of the price that is attributable to fuel costs. The pizza you eat, the burger, the head of lettuce all have a fuel cost component.
Do you think farmers produce your food without fuel?
Your airline tickets likely have a "fuel surcharge". Many companies now require extra money to deliver gods and services.
Ecomonists gave us the "Trickle Down" theory. You remember that one don't you? Any money the rich don't want will trickle down to the great unwashed majority. The trouble with this theory is that the rich don't have any money that they don't want.
Continue to listen to Obama, and you'll see McCain in the Whitehouse, higher fuel prices and a continuing was in Iraq and possibly a new war in Iran.

Price Elasticity
[Read the article: Obama is wrong about the gas tax]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Way back in the early 70's, just before the first gas crisis, I worked for a company that did a "Price Elasticity Study" for a major oil company.
The company arbitrarily raised gasoline prices by 5, 10, 15 cents per gallon at various stations.
The upshot was that sales didn't vary very much. About 90 days later we had the first oil crisis.... I guess it was just a coincidence...
Want to by some swamp land?

In an "inelastic" demand scenario" is WHAT?
[Read the article: Obama is wrong about the gas tax]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Inelastic demand is air. No matter what the cost, you'll buy a certain amount of it. That is, the demand is pretty much finite and pretty much constant no matter the cost.
Elastic demand is chocolate. The amount you buy is based upon the price you have to pay.

Spiritguide - What a load of crap
[Read the article: Obama is wrong about the gas tax]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]"The price of gas is determined by supply and demand, those who bid on commodity futures due to world events, and the current value of the dollar." Sure it is. Just like Enron didn't screw with natural gas prices.
The laws of supply and demand only work in a free economy, and our economy is anything but a free economy. I expect you live in a big city. Because if you don't, how will you absorb fuel costsd like you propose?
5 or 6 dollar a gallon gas doesn't seem like a problem to you? Wait until you see you food prices, or maybe you won't see any food at all. How long do you think farmers can continue to grow YOUR food at the price of fuel. How long do you think truckers will continue to transport YOUR food at these fuel prices.
We need a short term solution so that a long term solution can have time to take effect.

Where to begin
[Read the article: She's still in it to win it]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Obama just got his butt kicked by 41% in West Virginia, and he can look forward to a similar outcome in Kentucky.
His talking heads will say "So what? He didn't really campaign there". Even though he out spent Clinton 2 to 1 again. Obama has said that the voting in Florida shouldn't count because he didn't campaign there and wasn't well known. Yet in Florida he got 37% of the vote. That dog won't hunt.
Some Obama heads will try to blame his loss on a bunch of backwood hillbilly racists who would never vote for a black. At the time in a lot of states 80%-90% of blacks voted for Obama, but this wasn't because of recial reasons. I'm not buying that swamp land either.
The above need to be answered, but it won't because above all things we are afraid to see the truth and talk about it. How does Obama explain losing in California? Arguably the most liberal state in the country. Was that racism? Or because he didn't campaign there, or because he wasn't well known there? Yeah sure!
I've never voted for a Republican in my life, but I won't vote for Obama. I don't trust him, and I feel that he is without substance. By the way, I voted for Tom Bradley for govenor of California.

Why? Good Question
[Read the article: Viva Hillary Clinton!]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I agree. Why have citizens vote for a candidate they can't vote for in the general election?
By the same token, why give certain states more delegates just to bribe them to hold their primaries later rather than earlier?
Even better, why do we count votes in states that never and I mean never vote democratic?
I do have a question though. If the primaries in Michigan and Florida weren't valid, how can the votes for US Representative or Senator be valid, or for that matter for ay state office?
Maybe we should disallow all the decision made in those states for all democratic positions. After all Obama backers didn't have any reason to vote then.

What about the DNC?
[Read the article: Hillary's final curtain ]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Very good article. It hit most of the points dead on. The only one I see missing is the DNC and the Democratic leadership selecting Obama to be their candidate rather than letting the people (Us unwashed, idiots) pick our candidate.
The combined weight of MSNBC, CNN, CBS and the likes if Chris Dodd and Teddy Kennedy were too much to overcome.
Luckily I don't have to have either DODD or Kennedy as my representatives and I've chosen to forever not watch MSNBC. This cable channel has become a joke during this primary season. Olbermann, I thought was the worst until Chris Mathews open his yawning yap and proved that he could top him. I'll throw in Dan Abrams too as a complete waste of broadcast bandwidth. Never did I see anything approaching fairness on any of these shows and I'm not willing to ever listen to any of these three pieces of (fill in the blank here) ever again.
PS I'm not a sarcastic female.
