Original article: Ask a Wingnut

@RightWingJoe

"I see this claim frequently, but I never see any specifics. What -- specifically -- were you free to do BEFORE Jan. 20, 2001, but prohibited from doing SINCE?"

The Bush Administration asserted that it could (and would, and did) declare American citizens to be "enemy combatants" and hold them without trial forever. Specifically I used to be free to demand the government product evidence of any charge brought against me and free to have my day in court. I am no longer free to do so.

The Bush Administration secretly collected and stored all of my emails and phone calls. Specifically I was free to communicate without random government surveillance. I no longer have this freedom.

On Saturday I was stopped by a government agent with a loaded automatic weapon who demanded to know my citizenship before allowing me to proceed. Specifically I was free to travel in my own country without being randomly stopped, questioned and intimidated. I have lost this freedom.

Are three specific examples enough?

Maybe I missed the gist of this conversation

"Well I hope the file is the beginning of the conversation and not the end. I would love to disabuse you of whatever you think of Tom Feeney's loyalty from this file."

Rove f'd over his boss (and Roe by extension) and now Roe is mewing about convincing Turd Blossum that Feeney is "loyal"? If it had been me I would have taken Rove out to the street without comment.

Republicans are cowards and boot-lickers, unwilling to defend their "principles" even among themselves.

Original article: Obama turns econ professor

It's be easier to accept his judgement on economics...

..if his understanding and support for the rule of law was greater.

Sigh...

It's not even worth the time to respond. Do you guys have any better wingnuts? Because if every explanation for wingnuttyness comes down to "because we don't like it" it really is pointless to continue.

From CBS News:

President Barack Obama left the door open Tuesday to prosecuting Bush administration officials who devised the legal authority for gruesome terror-suspect interrogations, saying the United States lost "our moral bearings" with use of the tactics.

Yes indeedy, elections have consequences. They may even result in jail time for some wingnuts. At least they'll get a fair trial, unlike the people they tortured.

Hehe...

It's fun to watch Cheney squirm. "WAHHHH!! Oh please release the memos Mr President!!"

What a pathetic weakling.

Wednesday, April 22, 2009 03:03 PM

Wow

R.Thompson:

"The position you advocate is known as Manicheanism. It postulates that the world consists of a constant struggle between good and evil and that good is justified in anything it does to eradicate evil, however brutal, gruesome, dishonest, or whatever the means might be."

NotOrbitBoy 8 minutes later:

"@R. Dumbson: I don't believe most of what you claim I believe...Classic straw man argument..My comment re Right vs Wrong was in reference to WWII, where the US and its allies were on the "right" side of the debate, and the brutal acts we committed were justified to vanquish Hitler and the Japanese."

Epic wingnut failure. Beautiful.

"Texas Republican Doesn't Know Where Oil Comes From"

That's the real headline, and not because he asked this "gotcha" question either - he apparently actually doesn't know how all this black sticky stuff got under his feet.

Again and again Republicans keep proving there is no bottom to their well of ignorance and stupidity.

Excellent paper about the 1918 pandemic

Scary stuff.

All hate all fear all the time.

I know who the real danger is to me and my family.

Friday, May 1, 2009 03:04 PM

The criteria....let's see....

Cowardice? Spinelessness? Lack of principle?

Souter is going to be a hard act to follow but I'm sure our President can dig someone up - God knows the muck is deep enough.

Saturday, May 2, 2009 10:54 AM

Let's see...

How a about liberal Supreme Court justice for a change? Maybe one who will defend civil liberties and base his votes on the interpretation of the Constitution?

Nah, let's get another religious neo-fascist, or maybe another village idiot, or another silver-spoon corporate attorney.

There's always room on the court for another tool.

Monday, May 4, 2009 06:16 PM

Heh...

The state who's lifeblood is organized crime, gambling, drugs and prostitution is issuing felony charges in a complaint over hourly wages?

Nope, nothing political going on there.

@cestmoi123

"How do you know that he isn't generating 20x the value of a normal worker bee?"

Because he's unemployed. He is generating zero "value".

"Frankly, how much money he makes is none of your business, unless you're his employer."

Frankly he shouldn't have given this information to an interviewer to be published in a national magazine.

Obama needs to jail him

Every minute he spends free is another minute our Republic is in danger.

I'm being completely serious here: less evil people than Dick Cheney have overthrown governments before. He TORTURED people, and he would do it again.

There is more than enough evidence to charge and convict him. An abundance of evidence actually. If we don't hold him accountable we will never be safe in our own country.

Wednesday, May 13, 2009 04:19 PM

Sounds good to me, let's see what Pelosi had to do with this...

...and Reid and Feinstein and Obama too.

When will the Republicans demand accountability from their politicians?

Thursday, May 14, 2009 10:43 AM

It's always politics first with the Republicans.

They are disloyal and profoundly un-American.

Monday, May 18, 2009 09:46 AM

Conservatives defend torture and lawbreaking.

No surprise.

Wednesday, May 20, 2009 04:42 PM

I was going to compliment the GOP

for at least using the proper noun "Democratic" but I see that not all the wingnut idiots got the memo (h/t libertyaintfree).

Ah well, no matter.

Whine and stomp your feet all day long about what you want to call the Democratic Party. The rest of us (that is, the civilized world) already have a name for the GOP, and there is no need to hold a big convention or send out a memo - it's already stuck and it's set forever.

The word is "losers".

Tuesday, May 26, 2009 02:54 PM

So we now have THREE classes of citizens

1) Straight people who are allowed to marry.

2) Gay people who are married.

3) Gay people who can't get married.

I'm no lawyer but I think that's about two too many. When did we stop teaching about Dred Scott in our law schools?

Wednesday, June 3, 2009 04:00 PM

"Is dialogue possible?"

You mean with the guy who was having an illicit affair while sanctimoniously agitating to impeach a president who had an illicit affair?

No, no it's not.

Wednesday, June 3, 2009 04:58 PM

"Do you think Obama would ever call America a Judeo-Christian country?"

Well I hope not. Because we aren't.
