So if you're going to dispute the deaths/wars attributable to atheism, you can expect crazy fundies like me to dispute deaths/wars attributable to Christianity.
Deaths and wars attributable to atheism? What deaths? What wars? I do not know of any. I am not saying there aren't any, but if you want to raise such deaths and wars in an argument you are going to have to cite an example or two.
To restate: The fact that the death or the war was not explicitly attributable to religion does not mean it is attributable to atheism.
This is not a zero-sum situation. There are lots of causes for death and war that are completely removed from religion, or lack thereof. To argue otherwise is disingenuous at best. It certainly calls into question your judgment, if not your intelligence and your honesty.
Do you really want to spend so much time and effort laying out your arguments, and then dilute them by making such an indefensible assertion?
And as far as deaths and wars initiated by Christianity, how about the Inquisition and the Crusades. I had to think for less than a second to come up with those.
Don't you realize that you are refuting your own arguments when you use such transparent, ignorant illogic to make them?
If not for Jim Inhofe, Tom Coburn would be the The Most Ridiculous Man In Oklahoma. And he just hates that.
I love how the two most ridiculous men in my state are our two United States Senators.
I don't want a hollow facsimile experience over the internet, I want the real thing.
Therefore I demonstrate that by getting into a long and involved discussion/interaction on an internet message board.
ROFL.
I know a couple in Dallas who are very entrepreneurial. Since the early 80s they have been bouncing from one small business to another (none successfully). And they worship at the altar of Norquist.
They are both actually quite smart. But they have this sense of entitlement of wealth, and they despise taxes. They are Republicans, despite the fact that they are virulently against every plank of the Republican platform.
Except the anti-taxes part. They are willing to throw over everything that they believe in pursuit of the almighty dollar. The man is incapable of thinking about any aspect of his life without putting a price on it. The woman just goes along with it.
It is all abut the greed. Anything that does not personally benefit them directly can just sink into the sewer, as long as they get their cash. It is really quite disgusting.
These are the people who enable Norquist. They hold delusions of potential wealth, and let those delusions overwhelm everything in their lives.
People like jrdonohue also have such delusions. This person looks at the rising numbers of people with poverty level wages, and makes some snide remark about how unfair it is. This person has no shame. If his income was so low that he didn't owe any taxes, he wouldn't think he was lucky, and his definition of "fair" would definitely change.
After all, he wants us all to believe he is something different, that he represents change. So far, I see little to make me believe that. Yes, he is a change from the mendacity and patronage and incompetence of the last eight years, but that is setting the bar pretty low.
He (his DOJ) needs to find the person responsible, and find out exactly how something that was supposed to sealed was "accidentally" sent to a newspaper. Why is a US attorney sending anything to a newspaper at all? Much less sealed documents relating to a pending investigation.
This is extremely suspicious, and if Obama fails to attack this issue aggressively it will further erode my already eroding faith in Obama. Not that I had that much faith in the first place.
I am no fan of the Democrats, and find them only slightly better than Republicans. But if this passes without a rigorous investigation, they threaten to lose what is already a very slim margin.
I am on the alumni board for my high school. We coordinate gatherings and reunions and other social interactions.
For alumni who graduated this century, Facebook is an excellent tool for keeping in touch. For those of us who were in high school when Carter was president, not so much.
Our Facebook-liaison board member keeps hounding me to join in the "fun," but that is never going to happen. Nonetheless, we are getting recent graduates involved in the alumni association at a much higher rate than ever in the past, thanks in large part to Facebook.
There is no telling why the LW's former classmate wants to friend her. There are so many possible reasons that it is useless to speculate. But it is a pretty easy choice. If the LW thinks there is even a remote chance that she may benefit from the association, she should pursue it. Otherwise, not.
I think that may be the actual underlying question. Is there anything to be gained from this association. And I think that can be answered by this question: Is there anyone in her former hometown she keeps in touch with? If not, the answer is pretty obviously a resounding "No." If so, she should contact that person and see if that person believes there would be any benefit.
Why would some old guy in San Francisco have a clue?
So, you have no problem with Obama being just a corrupt and self-serving as the vile scum whom he replaced.
Well, good for you!
I voted for him, you twit.
I just was hoping he wasn't the same song, different verse. But then, I guess hoping that he wouldn't be just another self-serving politician was just delusional.
FISA? Gates? That took about two seconds and no research.
Oh, and delusions.
