Do whatever it takes to make the bank account grow, with no shame whatsoever.
That's all.
She has a following of low-information and low-intelligence Americans who give her millions and millions of dollars. She doesn't care what comes out of her mouth. She doesn't care how many lives are ruined. She doesn't care how many businesses fold. She doesn't care how many people die overseas.
She just cares about the zeroes at the end of her bank statement.
She is laughing at us. You understand that, right? Laughing her ass off at the fact that she can say the stupidest, most incoherent things, and she still makes millions of dollars a year.
She made the ridiculous Drudge statement. Once in a debate with Al Franken she claimed she was 23, even though she had to be near 40.
She just says these things, knowing people will point out her falsehoods. But she also knows the mere fact of pointing out her falsehoods will sell thousands more books to her dim-bulb followers.
As long as news programs pay attention to her, she makes money. And as long as she makes money, she doesn't give a fuck that the reality-based community realizes she is full of shit. Because the reality-based community's indignation fuels her book sales.
She is playing Salon, she is playing NBC, she is playing everybody. And laughing, laughing, laughing all the way to the bank.
She doesn't call them detainees. She doesn't call them enemy combatants. She calls them terrorists.
The men detained at Gitmo are terrorists. Terrorists who are coddled. Terrorists who are reclining on couches, watching TV, picking their meals. Terrorists who are probably living better than they would at home in their crappy little Third World. They probably don't even want to leave!
Those leftists want to free these terrorists so that they can come back and kill thousands more innocent civilians. Why do so many on the left hate America so much?
Once you take that point of view, outrage is the only possible response to closing the (illegal) prison.
I thought she was in some private little world of her own. She certainly hasn't acted like she was on the left. Or anywhere in this particular reality.
You mean there are still people who care what this guy says?
That's pretty scary.
I like it.
But her delivery was terrible. It was work to find the beauty of the poem behind the inept delivery.
No, I don't want poems read as if they were prose. I want them read lyrically. And the only lyrics in Alexander's delivery were those of an electric typewriter.
Only problem with that is, he is so utterly clueless, and only got advice from people who most definitely do not have the best interests of America or the rest of the world at heart, what he did was almost always absolutely, utterly, and completely wrong.
Careful with the pretzels?
The America-hating Right Wing fringe (read: most Republicans) will be creating false issues and tempests in teapots for the entirety of the Obama presidency. By spending time on this non-issue they accomplish two things:
1) They further erode their waning credibility,
And
2) They postpone the next dead-horse-flogging that they have lined up to attack Obama.
Both of these results benefit Obama. So even though it is no big deal, and would only take a few minutes, and Better Safe Than Sorry, I say, don't do it. Don't don't don't. The only time Obama should retake the Oath of Office would be January 20th, 2013.
If the past couple of decades have taught us anything, it's that nothing will satisfy the AINO crowd. Nothing the Democrats have done has caused them to back off of their slander and bullshit. Nothing.
So let's let them have this one. Really. Let them have it. It will keep them going for months, if not years. And they will win exactly nothing with it.
Isn't it better to let them bang each other on the head with the bones of this dead horse than it would be to force them to pick a new target? Come on, people!
They aren't going to back down, not as long as Obama is in the White House. So let's control the message as much as we can.
Just say "No" to retaking the oath.
But to redo it without dotting all the is and crossing all the ts was monumentally stupid.
Way to take something that could have been an asset and turn it into a liability.
Miracle is a bullshit word. What it actually means is, something that could not have happened on its own. Something that requires a higher power intervening. So, no, it wasn't a miracle.
Hero is a whole different kettle of fish. One definition of hero that I have been somewhat fond of is something like "ordinary doing extraordinary things in extraordinary circumstances." This particular incident doesn't really fit that definition, since everything the two men did were things they had been thoroughly trained to do.
But that is not the only definition of hero. Yes, the conditions were extremely conducive to a good outcome. And maybe, any equally well-trained flight crew would have been just as successful at bringing the plane in with zero fatalities.
Nonetheless, I don't begrudge the label of hero for anyone on that plane who helped make it work out as well as it did. When I first heard about the incident, and that the plane had landed in the river with no fatalities, my first thought was respect and admiration for the pilots. I didn't think of them as heroes myself, but I certainly wouldn't take that name away from them.
It hurts no one for this brave and skilled and professional men to be called heroes.
