Not even all the Republicans in Oklahoma are stupid enought to support Inhofe

McCain/Palin got 66% of the vote in Oklahoma.

Inhofe only got 55% of the vote.

There are even some Republicans who see what a disgusting slimeball this man is. This man who has been sued repeatedly by his own family members for running family businesses into the ground. This man who has lost most (all?) of these lawsuits, yet refused to pay any of the judgments against him.

The problem is the large number of people in this state who repeatedly think with and vote with their anuses. Really. Voting out their asses.

I didn't expect Rice to win, or the Democrat running for Congress in my district. I voted for them, but since I had no expectations of victory, I wasn't disappointed when they lost.

Disgusted and embarrassed, yes. Disappointed, no.

It's kind of sad when you expect to be embarrassed by the man your state sends to the Senate.

I strongly considered putting a bumper sticker on my car that said:

KEEP OKLAHOMA A LAUGHINGSTOCK: SEND INHOFE BACK TO WASHINGTON

But I decided the potential for vandalism and bodily harm was too high.

Pinhead Palin

She has a great appreciation for repeatin' talkin' points.

She has a great appreciation for sayin' talkin' points over and over.

She has a great appreciation for those talkin' points.

She has no appreciation whatsoever for the way that things she does are perceived by people who actually think.

I don't know how to react to this at all

A woman writes in to say that her husband has taken on a child with a past that has led her to be totally out of control. And he isn't doing anything to make the situation any better. on the contrary, he is enabling this child in her out-of-control behavior. He is pushing his own wife out of their marriage, and putting the child in her place.

The woman was not consulted about the situation. The woman is being punished for the child's behavior. The woman has lost her marriage and her home, and has gotten nothing in return for the exchange. She writes in to ask what she should do about her marriage and her home situation.

And Tennis tells her she should scoop up all the shit that has been raining down on her life, put it in a big bowl, and eat it.

I totally see the rationale behind wanting to save this child. But there are thousands, if not millions, of children whose lives need some responsible guardianship. This woman never signed up for any of this. It is cruelly unfair to act as if she should take responsibility for this broken life.

If you want my advice, poor Letter Writer, you need to give your husband an ultimatum: You or the niece. You may be willing to consume all the shit that Cary seems to think it is reasonable for you to consume. But even if you do, you need to make it clear to your husband that his current behavior is not in the child's best interests, in his best interests, and certainly not in your best interests. And if he refuses to begin acting like an adult, and like a parent to this child, then he is on his own.

If it were me, I would pack my things and leave. Your husband seems to have made his choice, and that choice doesn't include a place for you. Why should you take on years or decades of heartache for not foreseeable reward?

Go live your life. Find a man who isn't willing to take advantage of you to your extreme detriment.

And ignore Tennis' advice. Yes, it would theoretically be good and noble if you could actually help this girl. But why should he expect you to just give up you life that way? I don't think you should just give up your life. Your husband has given up your marriage.

This is another example of Tennis failing to actually answer the writer's question

It has been months since I read one of Tennis' advice columns. I have stopped reading them because Tennis routinely ignores the question that is being asked, in favor of addressing what he sees as the underlying, or unstated, question.

And usually, he gets it totally wrong.

In this particular case, not only is he wrong to fail to answer the actual question that was asked, he gives a terrible, and probably disastrous, answer to the question that he perceives.

Some advice for you, Cary Tennis: Answer the questions that are asked. First and foremost, answer the damn question!

If you feel you must peer into your crystal ball and mystically see "the true question," do so after you have addressed the situation at hand.

Sometimes you may actually be right. Sometimes answering the unasked question may save a life, or at least turn a life around.

But good god man, this was a disaster. There is a much greater chance of entangling this woman in a criminal situation than there is of your advice leading to a pleasant resolution.

It really makes me cringe to think how desperate people have to be that they would think writing to you could possibly make their situation any better.

Original article: "Thank You, Sarah Palin"

Pitiful miserable little lives

This video is extremely thought-provoking for me. I am sitting here trying to imagine how pitiful, how miserable, and how tiny a person's life has to be for Sarah Palin to have been an inspiration.

Original article: Palin still eyeing Senate?

Let's not miss the point here

Yes, we already know that Elephantboy is not so good with the facts.

Yes, he cluelessly stated that Murkowski is a Democrat. Really, this kind of thing is to be expected from him. But focusing on that rather typical error draws attention away from what really merits examination.

He says he is "bitterly disappointed" that Stevens was defeated. He is bitterly disappointed that a senator who has been convicted of corruption was defeated.

This is the Republicans in a nutshell. Disappointed that a corrupt senator was defeated. The Greedy Outrageous Party proudly shows its true colors.
