OK, I watched the video. Yes, based on her gestures and her pauses and word choice, it seems plausible that she is being fed her answers. This fits with her demonstrated ineptitude and with the Republicans mendacity.
But it is hardly a smoking gun. It is not going to convince anyone who supports her. It is extremely unlikely to convince anyone who is undecided. Hell, it doesn't even convince me, and I can't stand her, and shiver with revulsion and fear when I contemplate the possibility of a McCain/Palin victory.
The whole earpiece thing is kind of like this article. Those of us who already hold negative feelings towards her are going to nod our heads. Those who hold positive feelings for her are going to frown, shake their heads, and boo. A teensy weensy little sliver of undecided people are going to decide against her, but probably not enough to change any state outcome.
To actually affect the outcome will require something that is virtually irrefutable. Someone's opinion is not going to make a difference, no matter the credentials and eloquence of person stating the opinion. Those people who are duped or are duping themselves are only going to be pushed more strongly to her side by things like this article and that video.
Stick to the economy. That's the one thing that is working against McCain/Palin pretty well. Maybe it will be enough. The country is much better off if we don't let things like this distract us.
This is my understanding, based on this report, and reports on CNN.com.
A reporter asked if she abused her power when she fired Monegan. It wasn't a general question, it was a specific question. Not about Wooten, but about Monegan.
The way I understand it, the report says she abused her power when she tried to get Wooten fired. It doesn't cite any abuse of power with respect to Monegan. Therefore her response that she did not abuse her power is correct.
Had she been questioned about the attempt to get Wooten fired, this would be a story. As it stands, some reporter asked a stupid question, one which allowed Palin to deny abuse of power. Therefore, she denied abuse of power.
There is not a politician in our entire country's history who would admit to something he didn't do, unless he was looking for a career change.
This is a non-story.

Can we get back to McCain and the economy now?
This person is hilarious. S/he comes to a progressive web magazine, and rants and raves about abortion. Along with some nonsense about rich playboys and their dalliances. That is a scream.
I usually don't approve of troll-baiting, but I am finding this supremely amusing. Let's keep riling her/him up!
A couple of things.
As several people have noted, the boos on the video posted here were muted by the loud music and speaking over the PA. Muted because the music and speaking caused the boos to be recorded at a much lower level. Several other recordings of the sequence exist, and in pretty much all of them the boos come across much louder.
Due to the Electoral College, national polls are irrelevant in presidential elections. Gore won the popular vote in 2000, but didn't win the election.
What matters are the state-by-state numbers. And as of Sunday afternoon, FiveThirtyEight.com shows Obama ahead 349-189, even though the popular vote is 52%-47%. So follow the national popular vote polls if you want, but you won't get a true reading of the situation that way.
What was she questioned about when she denied the abuse of power?
The story I read said that the reporter asked about Monegan. She claimed that there was no violation of ethics with regard to Monegan. The excerpt that Greenwald highlighted was referencing Wooten. She answered the question about Monegan correctly.
If we are going to chastise someone for misrepresenting the facts, we need to be certain of our own facts.
I am as anti-Palin as anyone. But we weaken our arguments if we accuse her of something she didn't do.
The story I read was posted on CNN.com shortly after the report was released.
The story quoted a reporter who asked: (I paraphrase here) Governor Palin, did you abuse your power when you fired Walt Monegan? She replied that the report had shown no abuse of power or ethics violates or broken laws. "You got to read the report."
Based on this report from CNN, her answer was correct.
I have since read other reports, both here and at CNN.com, which contain falsehoods on the part of Palin. The original report I was citing is no longer available at CNN.com.
After a thorough search of my browser's history, the only link I have points to the updated report, without any reference to the actual wording of the reporter's question.
Based on the now-missing article I read on Saturday, Palin was not lying outright. But since that article is missing, there is no longer any basis for my previous statements.
Based on the current information, she is lying.
I apologize for posting information that could not be corroborated.
This isn't over! It's not over. It hasn't been decided yet.
We can't afford to run out the clock.
Get out the vote. Get out and vote.
If Obama really is ahead, make it a landslide.
Don't get complacent!
Overconfidence only rewards the stupid.
They are even purging voter rolls here in Oklahoma. And Obama has absolutely utterly no chance at all to win here.
I guess they are just thinking about the down ballot races?
