The American electorate has proven to be extremely gullible. Hate and fear are tools that work quite well, and the Republicans are quite adept at wielding them.
A black man named Barack Hussein Obama is inherently vulnerable to hate and fear. And if even a small percentage of the pro-Clinton preferring-McCain-to-Obama posters are telling the truth, the Democrats will lack the unity necessary to get the margin wide enough to prevent the Republicans from cheating to victory in the third election in a row.
Of course, if Clinton does not swiftly accede to reality and instruct her supporters to side with Obama, or worse launches an independent campaign, it won't even be close.
The Republicans are disciplined and focused. The Democrats are undisciplined and fractious. Even though the Republicans have so disgraced themselves that the election should not be close, the Democrats are doing their best to give away all their advantages.
"Snatching defeat from the jaws of victory" is a tired cliché, but it is unfortunately quite apt.
The disorder that distresses me is the disorder displayed by those who profess to be Democrats, but claim they will vote for the very antithesis of a Democrat because the Democratic candidate is not the perfect candidate.
Seriously, you don't see the problem here? I have no great faith in Obama, but he couldn't possibly be as bad as McCain.
Do you have children? What kind of Supreme Court do you want them to grow up with?
Is that the best you can do?
Fartsworth???
Well, you have made a fool out of me. I could get more intelligent discussion from a middle school student. You have fooled me into engaging you in conversation, as if some good would come of it.
And if you had paid any attention at all to anything I have written, you would know that Obama is not my hero. Never has been, never will be. If he somehow gets elected, I expect him to accomplish next to nothing. It's just that, compared to McCain, next to nothing would be a vast improvement.
Any person who understands American politics even a little knows that a terrorist attack is much more likely to help McCain than to help Obama.
But if this guy plants the meme that terrorists want Obama, maybe that can be one aspect of the Fear and Hate to Defeat the Democrats Plan that we will see played out this fall.
The most likely result of a terrorist attack is a continuation of the Bush presidency. Because of how dangerous it would be to switch leaders while the country is at risk.
No matter what, only a fool or a liar would believe that an October terrorist attack would help the Democrats.
Do any of you think this would have happened if she was white?
I am absolutely certain it would have happened, whatever race the disorderly student was a member of.
In the first place, the idea that girls should be able to wear whatever they want, with no rules or oversight, is not even rational. Of course the school enforces a dress code. It would be a complete dereliction of authority no to do so. Anyone who argues differently reveals an utter lack of understanding of the role of schools in a child's life.
Secondly, this girl was arrested for throwing a fit, and creating a situation that threatened the adults' ability to maintain order in a place where they are required by law to enforce order. Any girl doing this would face intervention by the authorities.
How do I know? I have been the chaperon at numerous high school dances. No one gets to come in and create a scene, no matter what sex or what race. Anyone who tries to do so gets the option of go home or go to jail. In my experience, though, all students given that option have been wise enough to go home.
So unless you are saying the only reason she didn't make the correct choice and go home, your insinuation is baseless.
So unless you are saying the only reason she didn't make the correct choice and go home is because she isn't white, your insinuation is baseless.
Would you impose any limits on 8th grade attire? Or would it just be, "Wear whatever you want, sweetie!"
Have you ever tried to enforce discipline at a middle school? Or at a high school? You seem to be talking from a complete lack of information.
The school decides what is appropriate. The students and parents go out of their way to undermine the school's authority. This is expected from the students, but unconscionable from the parents.
Are you one of those people who constantly complain about the quality of public schools? Did you ever wonder why there might be problems?
