Hey Evista!
[Read the article: What should Hillary Clinton do now?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]The last three words in your sentence got cut off somehow.
We could all read:
Hillary has millions of supporters and if she ran as an independent she would win the election.
But for some reason, we couldn't see the last three words:
for John McCain

President McCain. Get used to it.
[Read the article: What should Hillary Clinton do now?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I don't consider myself a Democrat. When I lived in Texas I was able to register as a Green. (I would be able to do so in Oklahoma now if Nader the Traitor had lived up to his promises in 2000).
But given the choice between Democrat and Republican there is no question. The Democrats will cause much less damage to country and to the planet than the Republicans. I will definitely be voting Democratic in November.
It is disingenuous give the Clintons so much credit for what happened in the 90s. The computer and DVD revolutions had a much greater impact on the economy and the deficit than the person sitting in the White House. And with a strong economy, gains for women and minorities are much easier. The bursting of the dot com bubble hastened an inevitable economic downturn. What was not inevitable was Bush throwing gasoline on the fire by cutting taxes while increasing spending and sending jobs overseas.
So don't be giving Hillary Clinton credit for things she had no influence over.
And Obama gets no credit for anything, for he has done nothing.
For a while I was thrilled with the idea that we might have a black president or a female president. Either one would have gone a long way towards eliminating a big chunk of the backwardness of our country. But now, with Obama supporters and Clinton supporters doing their best to destroy their chances, I can't foresee any result other than President McCain and the final ending of the American Republic.
It is sad the the only thing Clinton supporters and Obama supporters can cooperate on is the destruction of their own party.

[Read more letters about this article: Here]Faith in my fellow Americans?
Faith that they won't elect McCain?
Do you mean the same fellow Americans who kept the vote on Bush close enough that the Republicans were able to cheat him to victory in 2000? And then, after seeing how clueless and inept he is, did the same in 2004? Who overwhelmingly supported an unjust and unjustifiable war? Who, when that war went inevitably wrong, now want to legislate troop withdrawal regardless of any consequences? Who cheer for tax cuts and increased spending and outsourcing?
It is my faith in their inability to judge their own interests, therefore voting against them, that makes me certain that President McCain is in our future.
Six months ago, the idea of McCain as the nominee had most Republicans angry or depressed. Now they march in lockstep behind him. Meanwhile the Democrats are doing their utmost to destroy any possibility of defeating him. Even without Clinton in the race to dilute the Democratic vote.
(Yes, I realize you may have been typing tongue in cheek. But I felt like ranting. I have to deal with my despair in some fashion.)

What an acting job!
[Read the article: What should Hillary Clinton do now?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I read, or at least scrolled past, all 700+ posts. And I have come to one clear conclusion:
ShawnWM, ProudTexasGirl, and ljwalker53 are the same person. And that person has mad skillz!
His ability to shift voices tells me that he is wasting quite a talent just trolling on message boards. He should be making money somewhere as an actor.
He needs to make sure he quits before he gets too tired though. He slipped up a couple of times as ljwalker, drifting into the Shawn voice. And then having Shawn cite lj for making a good argument after those slip ups was a little obvious.
But, all in all, an excellent job of multiple-persona trolling!
Huzzah!

indigo, you sure sound like a Republican troll

[Read more letters about this article: Here]Obamatons have to think calmly
Obamatons, I am not racist...
Do you really believe your remarks are not inflammatory?
Do you not understand that Obama has the nomination all but locked up?
Look, I am giving you the benefit of the doubt for a little longer, but you are coming across as the next incarnation of ShawnWM.

I don't remember it from Pulp Fiction, but it's been years since I saw the movie.

This is the thread for Makin' Stuff Up
[Read the article: What should Hillary Clinton do now?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Well over half the posts on this thread are not based on any facts whatsoever. And that's just sad.
I would never pick Barack Obama for president. But that doesn't make me a racist.
I would never pick Hillary Clinton for president. But that doesn't make me sexist.
What I will do is vote for the Democratic nominee in November, no matter who it is. Because I know that McCain will be a tragedy for America and for the world. Maybe not to the degree that Bush has been a tragedy, but a tragedy nonetheless.
Would either Clinton or Obama make a perfect president? Of course not. But either would be better than McCain by several orders of magnitude. Think, for example, about Supreme Court appointments.
My guess is that most of the people who claim to prefer Clinton, but will vote McCain if Obama is the nominee are liars. Because I cannot imagine someone so petty as to abandon all the principles they claim just because their candidate squandered her "rightful" nomination. To make such a choice is cowardly and shortsighted. It goes beyond "take my ball and go home." It is more akin to "take my ball and firebomb the city."
I am hoping that any actual Democrats who are making such claims will come to their senses and make the choice that is best for the country and the world.
Even though I believe we are doomed to a McCain presidency, I see no justification in giving up. Please vote for the Democrat. Your children's futures are in the balance.
