The Obama campaign (Obama himself maybe) said that Clinton was unelectable because of the baggage she carries. But there was never any hint that she was not capable of doing the job. Especially compared to any Republican nominee.
Clinton said that McCain was more prepared to do the job than Obama is. This is breathtakingly anti-Democrat. This is saying that the Republican candidate is more qualified than the other Democrat. Really, there can be no justification for such a remark. It falls short of "endorsement," but it certainly helps McCain.
And when Obama's surrogates argued back in January that Clinton should not be the nominee because "half the country hates her, so she's unelectable" that was "just telling the truth", right?Who turned traitor first?
Well, only one of them has "turned traitor." Only one of them has said something that will help the other party gain the White House.
Why do Clinton supporters spew such venom?
And no, I am NOT an Obama supporter. My chief concern is getting a Democrat into the White House. Either Clinton or Obama would be far superior to "Bomb Iran" boy. I hate all the work the Democrats are doing to help McCain into the White House.
If enough spectators chose to boycott the Olympics, it could be a moderate financial blow to the Chinese.
If enough countries chose to boycott the Olympics, it could be a minor short-term embarrassment for the Chinese.
But the people who would be punished the worst would be the athletes. Some of these young men and women will not get another chance to go to the Olympics. It would be a heartbreak that would last a lifetime to many of them.
Remember when we boycotted in 1980? The scramble for athletes to get citizenship in other countries, so they would get a chance to compete? Do we really want to punish the athletes again?
One of the things King points out over and over is how NCAA sanctions punish the athletes more than the coach or the institution. And those athletes aren't, as a rule, having their only chance eliminated by circumstances beyond their control. I, for one, would prefer to avoid that.
Yes, China has horrible pollution and a horrible human rights record. But the time to address this issue was during selection, not less than six months out from the games. Don't make the athletes pay the biggest penalty for a decision made seven years ago. Let them compete.
Mukasey tells multiple blatant lies. Easily-checkable blatant lies. And this is our nation's top law enforcement official.
Law enforcement personnel are permitted to lie to suspected criminals in order to elicit admissions of wrongdoing. This demonstrates that this particular law enforcement official holds the American people in the same esteem that he holds criminals.
If these outright lies were true, they would be evidence of massive ineptitude by the current administration. Agents could have easily and lawfully intercepted communication between known conspirators in the worst terrorist attack against our country in its history. But they didn't.
So either the Bush administration, through the Attorney General, is telling multiple lies to the American people, or the Bush administration has admitted grievous failures to protect the American people. There is no interpretation available that doesn't lead to an extremely negative reflection upon the Bush administration. That doesn't expose impeachment-level misdeeds.
But the media coverage of this incident will almost certainly be outstripped by the coverage of a weeks-old story about Obama's pastor, or a story about Clinton's misstatements about a Bosnian trip.
Democracy? My ass.
How is BSG stupid? Let me count the ways:
Cylon spines glow during sex, but they can't be detected by simple X-ray? Or metal detector?
The fleet has enough water to last indefinitely, but after losing half or so, suddenly they only have enough for a week?
They find liquid water, but they can't use it because it is salty? This, when they have the processing capability to recycle urine?
Water is made out of two of the most abundant elements in the universe, hydrogen and oxygen, but since they can't figure that out, they can only use pre-made water?
They find pure ice, the most convenient form of storage for large amounts of water in space, but they want to melt it first?
They are a tiny fraction of the former billions of humanity, but they are going to go ahead and have an election as if they weren't in a dire state of emergency?
Cylon-occupied Caprica has been almost completely emptied of humans, yet Cylons are constantly patrolling the empty and threat-free streets?
I could go on, but this is boring. The most important point is that the S in SF stands for science. And the science in BSG is embarrassingly bad.
Here is a short list of SF TV shows just from the last decade or so that BSG couldn't even act as an extra in:
Babylon 5
Farscape
Firefly
Never before has such a lame show gotten so much undeserved adulation.
I think Hillary Clinton operating a flame thrower is an apt metaphor for her current tactic of burning Obama down. She seems to be doing everything she can to put McCain into the White House.
The reason your husband's family has no respect for you is that you have no respect for yourself. I am stunned to hear that you regularly did chores for them. I am stunned to hear that you ever did chores for them.
Move very far away, and never go back. I am sure you can find someone to remove or at least mediate the curse in your new home, wherever it is.
