I didn't get the email

I didn't get the email from God telling me who to vote for.

I didn't get a phone call from Him either. But since I only have a cell phone, I am not in the phone book, so maybe he couldn't find my number.

But anyway, I haven't received any voting instructions from God, so I can't willfully disobey Him.

Oh, one other thing: Since I consider the fall of the Soviet Union to have been a net gain for the world, ...usher[ing] in the kind of change that brought the Soviet Union to collapse. is something I support fully.

Original article: Hot for the "First Dude"

I like girls, but...

I can see why many women would find him visually sexy.

I can see why many women would find things in his history sexy.

But then, if I was only thinking with my gonads, I would find Sarah Palin smokin' hot.

I don't. I find her repulsive. In just about every way.

So I would hope that the women I interact with and am attracted to would not find him sexy.

In fact, that may be a good screening question: How do you feel about Todd Palin? It would help me clarify whether a woman thinks the way I think, and whether or not it is worth the time to pursue her.

Original article: Fawning over Palin

None of this information will make any difference

None of this information will make any difference to the die-hard Palin supporters. After all, they wouldn't even be die-hard Palin supporters if they were capable of critical thinking.

What it will do, however, is make it harder for her to expand her base among Republicans. It makes her very unlikely to win the Republican nomination in 2012.

I still hope she runs, though. It makes me happy to imagine the large amounts of cash that the religious extremists will send to her campaign, and therefore not have available for the 2012 general election.

Original article: The Republican shipwreck

Why now?

Do you get brownie points if you publish this story before the election? Do you get smugness points?

Is there any point?

I guess you haven't noticed, but the election isn't until next week. The Republicans haven't lost yet.

Yes, it seems real bleak for the party of the obscenely rich and extremist fundamentalists right now. But the eggs have not hatched yet.

There are so many possibilities for Republican victory that it is foolish beyond description to publish such an article now.

If things go as they seem to be going, and Obama wins with a 10 point victory, and in addition if the Democrats get a filibuster-proof majority, there will be plenty of time to do post-mortems and gloat and dance on graves. Why do you have to do it now, before the election is over?

Just wait, OK? Wait until Obama has actually won, is actually the president-elect.

I will be sick enough if McCain wins. If McCain wins after endless gloating about his defeat, it will just be that much worse.

The Republican Party is a series of tubes

But not just tubes.

There are also lots of sphincters.

Original article: Your daily Palin

When you asked about covering the Palin chlothes story, I said don't do it.

Of course, a lot more people than Broadsheet and Salon covered it, but anyway...

I forced myself to watch the Hasselbeck Introduces Palin video, and guess what? Palin is using the $150k media story issue as ammunition for her side.

That is what I predicted, and that is why I said it shouldn't be covered at length. The people who are going to look on it negatively are already anti-Palin. Making it into a big issue is just going to help Palin.

It's a good thing most people have already made up their minds.

Jeremiah Wright gets a bum deal

Wright is not that radical. He just isn't.

If you cherry-pick bits and pieces of anyone's speeches, you can find stuff that will seem much worse out of context.

But as far as Wright and his views are concerned, he is merely carrying on an ancient tradition in the Christian Church: Trying to make things better by focusing on the bad. Getting people riled up enough to actually do something.

There are plenty of Old Testament prophets who used this technique. And most of them were reviled for it at the time that they were doing it.

And Wright has a point. The descendants of slaves in this country still get a raw deal. Look at what a big deal is still made when some person is the "first black" anything. Wright has a point.

The white minister in my white church in my predominantly white Republican town gave a sermon last spring detailing why Wright was correct to do what he was doing, and the history he was reliving.

But no real worries here. The only people who will be influenced by this ad were already voting for McCain anyway. Or, actually, they were already voting for Palin anyway.

It's not going to make any difference.

Idiots like kimbah

Idiots like kimbah can't defend Palin's short-sightedness, her lack of understanding, her pandering to the ignorant. So they respond with off-topic attacks that are irrelevant and weak.

Oh no kimbah, your biting wit and your laser-like focus on what is important have totally devastated us all. We will meekly and humbly vote straight-party Republican.

It is all because of you.

Original article: Obama defines the moment

It's obvious

It's obvious Obama is wrong for America.

He is shrill, he is scary, he has no plan, he is unready.

He will consort with terrorists, he will raise our taxes, he will ship our jobs overseas, he will raise up the undeserving Muslim blacks above the God-fearing, Christian, white, real Americans.

He will turn all our cherished institutions over to America-hating Socialists who will tear them to the ground and destroy the remains of our economy.

In short, he will destroy our proud country.

Wait, what? What did he say? He isn't planning to do any of that?

He must be just telling any lie he can tell in order to deceive us and steal our country away.

At least, that's what everyone is saying here in Oklahoma.
