@jimnmpls.....a mere 7% income tax increase??

This is the first time I've heard of an actual tax increase number being put on this bill. 7% would be a good deal; I'd agree to that in a heartbeat.. But do you really believe the Baucus bill (which at this point is still unclear); along with the two other bills that are going to be merged with it; is going to make it through Congress unchanged? Has ANY government plan EVER cost what they said it would, and not more? Health and Human Services said yesterday that the bill was going to cost far more than was being projected. .....Meanwhile government spending is driving down the dollar; the budget is three times bigger than last year, and the spending party goes on. That "7%" is going to be a distant memory.......Maybe mental health care should be a priority........'cause somebody's smokin' something down there in DC, and we're all being bullshitted..

@Mapers

And who do you think paid for all that, the tooth fairy? Thank all the citizens of Switzerland for their 'mandatory generosity'; ie: TAXES!.....It's amazing to me the number of people who seem to think, healthcare provided by the government is somehow 'free'..I suppose if I have no job, no SS number; or I'm off the books, then it would be 'free'. But for the rest of us; you know the ones actually working and paying taxes; it's not free. So now we have those that decry capitalism as a system that doesn't work, because of corruption. What system of economics and government on this planet doesn't have the same problems?

If Russia China and Cuba are such wonderful places to live, why aren't folks leaving here by the boatload? Unlike there; WE are free to leave here anytime. So throw that picnic table into the ocean, and point it towards Cuba. Castro will be so pleased to see you..... And let me know when the Micheal Moore's and the Bill Maher's of the world start to actually put their millions of dollars where their mouths are, and leave; instead of making a lucrative living in the very system they profess to hate. "Gee Mike; could you give me a million? You don't need all that do you?".............. Lucky for them the 'freedom to practice hypocrisy' is covered in the Constitution

........"healthcare negotiations will be done soon enough ".......

Yeah, I've really enjoyed watching them on CNN as Obama promised. Thanks for that "open and transparent process" we were all promised. But hell, what's a "promise"? He probably 'mispoke' or was misquoted by........er......you know,..........himself! BTW: The Washington Post poll is based on a sampling process THEY won't release....Hmmm...File that under 'stay tuned to CNN for the healthcare debates'....."Change I can...blah blah blah".........what was that line again?

Oil companies fault??

Gee, maybe it's me, but I would have thought knowingly building a city below sea level might be an invitation to a flooding problem....So if you really want to sue someone; try the federal government. They're the ones responsible for this ongoing mess.... another job well done!

"It seems like what is true for China should also be true for the U.S."

China's too busy buying up the United States to be concerned about healthcare for it's citizens, and as I recall; Chairman Mao's idea of healthcare was to just slaughter millions of people. Kinda makes Hitler look like a summer camp councilor... But we'll just ignore all that; besides, it was for the 'greater good'. But as long as we're on the subject of what "should be true for the U.S."; why not trot out Cuba and Venezuela; maybe toss Russia in there too....This administration seems to be enamored with totalitarian regimes; even to the point singing their praises to high school students...

Do they really want to open that door?

'Cause I'm ready to sue Al Gore for misrepresenting so called 'facts' for personal gain. I'll settle for half of that 100 million he's made........I hear that poor polar bear on the ice floe is suing for misrepresentation also...good for him!

Nobel not so noble any more..

I guess if you make feel good speeches about peace you get a prize. You don't actually have to achieve peace. Unlike Mother Teresa, who actually did something.......What's next; will he get on the NYT bestseller list for just talking about writing a book? This is funnier than Letterman..

The economic idiocy continues

Devaluing the dollar for political gain? Sounds wonderful; just great. I would say that action alone, borders on treason. Purposely undermining the stability of our nation for social / political gain. And all these midwest jobs that might be created at about 10 bucks an hour are really going to work out well when gas is $8, plus a gallon and it's cheaper to stay home and suck the social systems dry. Not to mention interest rates up around 20%...but a least we'll be on par with Zimbabwe and China. That is what we want right? A 'level playing field'? Redistribution of wealth through taxation, devaluation and unsustainable social programs? I wonder if Michael Moore is going to empty out his personal bank account; maybe spread that around a little. Seems the hypocrites that whine about the evils of capitalism don't mind it at all when it benefits them...... Churchill was right ...."socialism is the equal sharing of misery". Welcome to socialism / "change you can believe in".......Hey buddy, can you spare a dime?..

Reading these posts is hillarious....this is way better than Xm comedy

I guess when the Repubs. criticize they have the "emotional maturity of kindergarteners". But when the Dems. do the same.........well................I guess they go to Salon where literate civil discourse rules............Yeah......right!.......Some of these, off topic, rambling posts make Beck look like a cross between Ghandi and Tolstoy........Maybe I was wrong on health care; free meds. for everyone might be the solution after all....
