Original article: Toilet talk

Is Starbucks missing an opportunity?

I mean, if you ladies are going to spend that much time in there, why not a coffee bar and a massage chair? I'm assuming ladies rooms are much cleaner than mens, making them more conducive to hanging out. The only 'hanging out' we do is the obvious. No, we don't talk, and eye contact is strictly forbidden; it's a territorial thing, you wouldn't understand. And I would say only 20% of men wash their hands. So it's also a germ ridden minefield in there! Why would anyone want to stay? Unless of course, they happen to be Senator trying to conduct a 'straw pole'.........

"Soiled Sexpots"?

That phrase says more about your own sad views of sexuality, than the advertisement you're critiquing.

WHAT ABOUT THE BIRDS??

It's a rough life way up there on the migration high-way. Our feathered friends have their bird brains stressed to the limit just trying to avoid all those windmills. Now they're going to need sunglasses to deal with all that reflected light. And what happens if they fly across a mirror array? ..................Oh, the horror!!! But a good opportunity for a KFC franchise.

"If we ever want to elect a Black President, and I Believe we do....."

No Joan, I just want someone that appears to have a clue, before I go and pull the lever. So much for the "content of his character",....I guess it all comes down to the color of his skin after all. At least Bernie's still got a sense of humor, even if the vast number of Americans seem to be losing theirs.

@frederico

Please define the word "rich" in the context you used it, and "fair share", ......and if you're up to it, give "windfall profits" a shot too.

Obama's Correct.....almost

Sure, learning a second language is always desirable. I'm all for it. But we have school systems that are allowing kids to graduate that can't even read English at grade level, and have only a rudimentary knowledge of grammar. Read any newspaper, or listen to any newscast and it becomes painfully obvious how ignorent we've become as a nation, in even the basic verbal and written skills.

Obama's 20 Year 'Tour'.

This article basically states we need to understand McCains views on the Vietnam war and use it as an indicator of "how his past might influence his future as president". OK fair enough. So Obama's 20 year 'tour of duty' in a church preaching a black separatist, racist philosophy should be fair game also.......... It seems to me those so called 'morals and values' he's learned, are a pretty good indicator of how the "past might influence his future as president"....Unless, like McCain, he "didn't 'learn" anything there either.

THIS IS GREAT NEWS!!

Let's add this to the list of reasons why we shouldn't resume offshore drilling...Anyone for nuclear power plants? Coal to oil production? Shale oil deposit drilling? No?........ Hmmmmm, How about 'Hope and Change"? Does that still sound like a good plan?? How much is a gallon of that going to cost me?

@ calgodot --the real tragedy-----

------"Privileged, educated, white corporate women can't take three months off to have a baby and get paid". Your assumption that they're 'privileged" is not proven by anything stated in the article. They're obviously are not privileged enough to be able to afford the time off. Unless of course, by 'privileged', you mean educating themselves, working hard and obtaining a good job. And the ludicrous assumption that they're "white", also not stated anywhere in the article, is just an indication you need to take off your race colored glasses, and jump off that class envy bandwagon. It's not going anywhere; .....and won't serve you.

@celiaInSF for your consideration

"In an ideal world no one would produce such sentiments because we'd be so enlightened"

I'd like to expand on your thought a little, and approach it from a slightly different angle: 'In an ideal world, such sentiments would go unoticed because we would simply choose not to be offended by them'.........I think its alot easier to change our reaction to something, rather than get someone else to change their behavior.

Trading Her Virtue?

I would put forth the proposition that any "virtue' ceased to exist long before the sale or trade at the point of purchase. But more importantly; was that regular or premium?

Charbucks

They're finally realizing those 'biscotti beans' they're using might just be a tad over roasted? There's hope for America after all! Now if we can just get D.D. to figure out cream, sugar and flavouring doesn't consitute a cup 'real coffee', all will be right in the universe. America's "Running on Dunkin"............all the way to the bathroom.

Another Inconvenient Truth

Anybody seen the daily weather records for the last 4 billion years? I seem to have misplaced my copy.

@Delosgatos

You're right, and in theory I love your context.......or do I? .

The Problem with Gommunication...is the illusion that it has been accomplished--GB Shaw @ publicola

I suppose by your definition of the word 'theory', well not yours but Jay Gould's, I stand corrected.

If comparatively speaking, the word 'theory' legitimizes it enough in your 'mind' to stand alongside the 'theory of relativity or the 'theory of evolution', then I would have to concede I mispoke. The 'Hypothesis' of global warming' might be a more accurate description. Semantics, yes I know. but in this era of redefining words to fit an agenda I think it's acceptable. Mr Gould states,"in the american vernacular 'theory' often means 'imperfect fact'. No, "theory' always means imperfect fact. It does'nt mean something else when it becomes inconvenient. Unless you're Bill Clinton. 'Theories' such as 'relativity' and 'evolution' have proved themselves to be more 'fact' than 'theory' (more semantics) at this point, due to years of ongoing scientific testing and research. Global warming, in my view, has hardly reached that hallmark. But I suppose you prefer the Wikipedia 'everybody says so, so it's gotta' be true' approach to validating research. In which case, any further discussion is pointless.
