@JNagaraya.....are you delusional?

"According to military investigations, over 100 "detainees," none of them found GUILTY of ANYTHING, DIED as direct consequence of torture. The military concluded that those deaths were HOMICIDES."...Really? According to one of Greenwald's links, the military couldn't draw a 'definitive conclusion' as to the causes of death. I guess you, in your infinite wisdom, did your own little private investigation..... As for the waterboarding, uncomforable as it may be, I'd undergo it, knowing of course like everyone else, that I wasn't going to die or be permanently injured. But what's the point?

As for the rest of your ramblings ......."A system of laws, and not of men." -- John Adams. In a democracy we conform to the principles of due process of law, beginning with "innocent unless and until proven otherwise".....True, but in that case, enemies taken on the battlefied don't qualify for equal protection under the law as civilians. You may like to think they do, but they don't. By the way, what exactly do you picture these poor innocent folks doing before they were taken prisoner; shopping at the local mall? Or trying to kill American soldiers?

Still can't answer that pesky "what to do with them" question can you? Oh well.........

And Saddam Hussein?.....Yeah OK..the mother ship is waiting for you. Have a nice flight....

Original article: Trusting Walter Cronkite

"I'd love to "'surface?" someone with a national news conscience and authority that could focus us on what matters.

Even disregarding the convoluted syntax; I don't think you can actually "surface' someone; any more than you can "disappear" someone. Though, I know John Stewart seems to think so. Perhaps finding a person that has a basic command of language, might be a good starting point on your quest for another Cronkite...

@Citizen X...,didn't take long before the old race card got played......

.....reading this stuff, is more fun than watching the Daily Show.......yawn!

Original article: Skip Gates, please sit down

Sounds to me like two guys, that just got off on the wrong foot.....

....the difference being that Gates couldn't let it go and pulled out the race card. Which is an interesting fallback 'crutch' position usually used by those without a valid argument. The poor white guy, all beaten down by collective guilt and remorse over slavery he had nothing to do with; is supposed to curl up into a mental fetal position and take his medicine, like the good ol' racist boy he is....Fortunately; those days are coming to an end and that 'dog ain't huntin' on this one, despite the whining. Funny; Gates would have been the first to complain if his house HAD gotten broken into and the cops had ignored the perps, thinking they were related to Gates..

"No, it's not punishing the rich," he said. "If I can afford to do a little bit more so that a whole bunch of families out there have a little more security, when I already have security, that's part of being a community."

............So here's a guy that doesn't know the difference between an implemented tax and voluntary charitable contribution. Ya think A.C.O.R.N would have at least taught him that distinction.....Of course, in an age when taxes are being called "contributions", and "fair share" means anything 'the other guy' has to pay; it comes as no surprise. Here's a novel idea: Let's tax everyone at the same rate; say 15%; ....no?........I didn't think so. Some folks are just plain set on weaseling money out of others, based on some hypocritical notion of 'fairness'. .........Oh, and BTW Mr. Pres: It's not about "security"; it's about right and wrong'. Even the Church doesn't have a tiered tithing system.

"delusional argument"....Yeah you've got that right....

The wingnuts are flying on both sides. By Lind's logic, Raul Castro could emigrate and become president.....Maybe he'd like that.............There's a good reason the Constitution is written in this way, and Lind's "delusional" article illustrates that reason perfectly.

@Thomas Servo...

......."By continuing to limit the Presidency to mainly the natural-born, we are spitting on the graves of every immigrant who came through Ellis Island"....................Actually no; what we ARE doing is safeguarding the nation from those that would try to recreate the same regimes others came here to escape. And preserving the reasons most immigrants come here to begin with....You really need to read, AND understand the Constitution. BTW; I immigrated here in '64; Ellis Island was already closed for ten years at that time...

" Matthews read a statement from Fox saying the news network doesn't support Beck's views on Obama as "racist." Again I have to say: Mighty white of you, Fox!

......sounds like a racist statement to me Joan; You must hate white people. Aw jeese I forgot; only white people can be racist. If the NAACP had released a similar statement would you say "mighty black of you NAACP?". Doubtful.......Fox most likely clarified Becks statement because they realize the average right or left wingnut is unable to separate a single individuals viewpoint from the collective corporate whole... I've not heard anyone suggesting health care legislation is failing because Obama might be a racist. Who said that? If anything, it's failing because the so called "intricasies" you claim Beck and Limbaugh don't want us to focus on, don't exist. There's is no 'plan'; nothing to examine; just sweeping generalizations trotted out every time Obama tries to sell it at a town meeting..

I wonder what the reaction would be if a white president said black police "overreacted' and were "stupid"? Most likely, not quite the same...... Obama doesn't need Beck or limbaugh to show he's got some problematic racial views; he's doing a great job all by himself.........

What a disaster!!

Don't these "mobs" know that expressing a differing viewpoint is not to be tolerated under this administration? Time to round 'em up; put them in camps and re-educate them. Ungrateful swine, always quoting that idiotic Constitution and Bill of Rights thing. We'll have to change that too.....I guess it was different in the good ol' days; when ACORN was bussing protesters to the homes of AIG execs. At least they were fighting a party approved battle....

Wednesday, August 5, 2009 06:36 AM

@Jack Hughes

Could you maybe issue us a state approved uniform too? Maybe a nice brown shirt or something with eagles on the lapels? 'Cause I'd hate to get us rightous folks confused with all those rabble-rousers....

Wednesday, August 5, 2009 06:48 AM

Actually, Mr Bastard....

Seems you're the one that hates democracy when you come across something you disagree with. Funny how the so called party of 'tolerance and inclusion' is neither......
