Well, I was just 'stating an opinion' ...no "war' was intended; a little humor? Yes.... It's funny though, I had the same discussion with a a friend of mine, and his opinion was totaly opposite of mine. He got into the history of the Post and the owner, and said that basically he took that into consideration in regards to the cartoon. I'm not sure if that's over thinking the whole issue or not, but I can see the point. He also floated the idea that, if the cartoon had appeared in the Times or Washington Post, maybe the reaction might have been more favorable.....As you said, we have no idea of the intention of the Post, and that's what we need to know to be able to form an educated opinion. Context and intention are everything, when it comes to these types of issues. Ask Imus...he's well aware that 'intention' can become lost in the fray, especially when the hypersensitve issue of race comes up..

A little paranoia does goes a long way after all

......."rabid lynch mobs...."tribalistic movement motivated by fear...."..."camouflaged well armed suburban caves"...."angrier and more chest beating than ever"....Hmmm, nothing like presenting the flip side of the same coin Glen.....Your thesaurus must be getting a real workout.

Original article: Not your average tea party

It'll never be a million man march.....

.....'cause most of them have to show up at work, and keep producing those taxes that the whining class envy slackers 'feel' so entitled too.....

Original article: Not your average tea party

@paulpsd7 ......"conservatives that do all the working and producing"....

...Actually that was the assumption you made in order to bolster your foul response; not my contention. Seems I hit a raw nerve. No, my contention and observation over the years, is that most people that do show up to march or protest in whatever forum, especially on a week day, generally don't have regular jobs.. I think that pretty much covers the spectrum of Dems, Repubs, and whomever else you might like to lump in there. Including those just showing up for some TV face time......Maybe you'd like to take a poll of their tax 'contributions' state by state, and rework those convoluted stats to fit into your lame political framework...

Original article: Class warfare? Bring it on

Typical babble

Democrats have been playing the class warfare card in every single election in recent memory. Pitting the 'working class' against the so called 'rich'. Now you're wondering why the proverbial chickens are coming home? Obama himself said last week, that he plans on taxing those making over $250,000 at a higher rate to help give the "hard working middle class" a tax break. ......Inference being; that those so called 'rich folk' aren't really 'hard working' ....I suppose that depends on your definition of 'hard work'....I do know one thing: they, (the rich) definitely work 'smarter' than I do. The idiotic idea that you have to work 'hard' to make a living just doesn't hold up under objective scrutiny. But, it plays into the 'he really doesn't deserve what he has' mentality, of the pathetic whiners, who then convince themselves they're entitled to what they've not earned...

Whose integrity are you referring to Joan?....please clarify....

You; like the rest of the mindless media Obamanauts, still insist on taking what Limbaugh said about "hoping Obama fails " completely out of context.....Or, you just don't have the mental capacity to understand the point he was making...

"It's hard for anyone except McCain to get that worked up over the earmarks Battle"....

.....And this is an example of the usual arrogance of the Washington politician, that thinks a few billion wasted here or there is 'nothing', and the stupidity of the American voter, that accepts this garbage as 'business as usual'. When party affiliation and philosophy are more important than doing the right thing for the country, prepare to pay the bill. Regardless of his reasons; and I'm no fan; McCain is doing the right thing. Too bad the starry eyed, petty, party line wonks, will never concede .

@karolyn

Apparently, it's only a 'free country' when the views expressed are approved of by everyone else.

Pretty much an impossible standard to meet..... What I'd like to know is: when did billions of dollars in waste become nothing to be concerned about? Lets not ask that question; no instead we'll just hammer McCain..

@trisha08..let me straighten it out a little more for you.

Spending 380k of taxpayer money we DON'T have, and will have to borrow; to build a non job producing playground, is a lot different than someone spending 190k of money they actually have, in a way THEY choose, and is basically non of your business..... You can file this response right next to John Edwards $400 haircut debacle.....Good for him!

"A marriage license is a....document of profound significance"...

But of what "significance, and to whom? To the state; it's a legality. To the parties involved; it could mean many different things..There are people that are legally married and never see one another. And there are others that never 'legalize', yet remain together in what, to outward appearances, is a 'marriage'..

Original article: "Miss March"

Oh my! Ms. Zacharek!!

As I first skimmed the article, I speculated that perhaps you'd matured and these types of 'predictable humor' flicks, aimed at the five year old / college bong crowd, just weren't to your tastes anymore. Then I came across the reference to "poo jokes" and all hopes of further brain cell activation for you were dashed.. Oh well, it could have been worse; you might have used the words "poopie' or "caca"........

Not a level playing field.....

The government doesn't have to operate under the free market business model of profit and loss. Taxes fund these programs regardless of their efficacy. So it can 'afford' to run the most inefficient programs on the planet and never go 'out of business', and control so called "competition" through restrictive regulation. That's not exactly "competition", by any stretch of the imagination. I'm curious though; are we still going to have Medicare and Medicade programs along with this 'universal covered from cradle to grave' health care? I would think if it's going to be so great, we should be able to at least dump these programs.

"Government was a problem" and still is.....

I wonder where all those corporations that don't like the idea of purchasing carbon credits are going to end up. Mexico, India, China; or out of business? Or will the extra cost just be passed down to the consumer once again? I guess we could call that "trickle down Obamanomics"....
