So EIRs prevent massive construction projects...so what?? What about massive IMPROVEMENT on existing infrastructure. We need bridges fixed, airports modernized, roads patched up, adequate dams especially in Northern California, the list goes on! EIRs for improvements to existing projects are much easier to get through.
Judeo-Christian foundation my ass. This country is founded on greed and fucking your neighbor over as long as you get paid. Fuck this poisonous ideology and the insidiousness it spreads.
When you don't like a film, Miss Zacharek, it seems like you try your unholy best to take as big a piss on it as possible. Your last Michael Moore review is an even better case in point.
All told, your reviews lead me to want to watch the movie and like it purely out of spite.
Who is going to hold this rancid, two-faced fuck accountable?
There is the e-mail.
I encourage everyone on this blog to e-mail Chuck Todd voicing your disgust over his "opinions" as a supposed WhiteHouse reporter.
Dear President Obama,
Remember that really important word you were looking for in a Supreme Court Justice? The word was "Empathy." Well check it out-I looked it up on dictionary.com and here is the definition:
"the intellectual identification with or vicarious experiencing of the feelings, thoughts, or attitudes
of another."
Cool definition huh? Well anyways, I was wondering if you had ever thought of trying it out for yourself? My guess is no for a couple of reasons:
1) Have you thought about how it would feel to be acquitted of charges yet still retained in jail because someone who doesn't even know you thinks you could be dangerous?
2) Have you thought about how it would feel to have your family bombed by a drone missile even though they had not been involved in any militaristic activities against the US?
3) Have you thought about how it would feel to have been removed from your partner's deathbed or removed from the military because you were gay?
4) Have you thought about how it would feel to die or our go bankrupt because of unavailable healthcare?
5) Finally, have you ever thought about how it would feel for an American to endure 8 years of lawlessness and treachery from a President, then promised "Change" and the resumption of our liberty, humanity, and pride only to be lied to and stabbed in the back
You are a hypocrite and shame us and yourself daily with your actions.
I would say that within the last month the Huffington Post has started to feature many more articles that are critical of Obama especially regarding preventive detention, LGBT issues, and healthcare reform.
Unfortunately, many of the commentators on the site still see Obama as a Godsend so the well-informed comments from many of the posters here would be much appreciated on the Huffington Post. By so doing, we can bring a little bit of Greenwald over to the Huffington Post and get a nice double dose of truth with the addition of Froomkin.
Moreso than believing that Obama is engaging in a power grab by way of indefinite detention, etc. (not saying that GG is saying this either), I am inclined to believe that there is an utter lack of faith in the American people in being able to deal with another terrorist attack on American soil. This is completely me projecting, but Obama would rightly see that another terrorist attack would leave him incredibly vulnerable. The Fascists, led by Dick Cheney, would only add more and more xenophobes and racists to their ranks. They would pull out the national security card again and torture would suddenly become acceptable to more and more Americans. Constitutional values would become even more maligned based on the depraved utilitarian arguments of the war-mongering Cheneyites.
If my beliefs are true, however, Obama still is not going to be able to cover his ass. Just because he is keeping these other flagrantly anti-Constitutional programs doesn't mean that he can argue that he was keeping us safe. One attack undermines all of this judging by the panic and fear that is so easily induced in Americans. Ultimately, we are just going to have to somehow learn that people who wish to do harm to the United States (for justifiable/unjustifiable reasons) are sometimes going to be able to carry out their crimes. That we maintain our Constitution and the Rule of Law in the face of these attacks is the central goal we should strive for.
"Moving forward" is the refuge of all past, present, and future scoundrels.
The next time I am pulled over for a speeding ticket, I will kindly remind him that I need to move forward with my day. There are groceries to be bought and a good BM to be released.
I would like to hear some of those lectures:
"You see class, the President gets to decide when the Constitution is applied. This of course is based on the political climate and the President's interpretation of this climate. For the President is our benevolent father who knows what is good for all. Trust in him, especially if he is Harvard educated."
Man it has to be good to be the King.
Caine's obsessive talking point is "how great are we-we got rid of torture as a foreign policy tool!" I'm surprised our enlightened leaders aren't lauding our government for getting rid of rape and murder-job well done America!
