This highlights the problem in all conservation arguments. Your dog is the problem. Having a kid is the problem. Simply by living, you are the problem. The problem is where we get our energy.
Pawlenty was actually a moderate befitting the independently-minded ethos of his state at some point. Now he has to be a wingnut in order to win the nomination? What is wrong with the Republicans? The Democrats always want to pick somebody so middle of the road they get run over. And yes, that includes Obama, no matter how many times these nuts call him socialist. At least we can call him Mr. President.
I think music and a lot of culture in general has just hit a creative wall. From the 1920s to the 1970s, progress in American music came from cross-pollination between white and black music. Sometime after hip hop and punk, it all just ground to a halt. The best music since then, from Nirvana to Kanye West, has been derivative of the past.
At some point, serious fiction became restricted to novels written by adjunct professors at liberal arts colleges about the lives of adjunct professors at liberal arts colleges. The memoirists are able to get published despite this, and at least their stories are slightly interesting.
