Taking the center, implies beating back those at the margins

Republicans quickly figured out they could paint Liberals as marginal players, elitists. (For a cinematic tour de force see Scorcese's Aviator, when Howard Hughes visits the Hepburn's in Connecticut.) Ask any modern era Republican (Conservative politics is dead) and he will tell you Russert and Matthews are part of the Liberal Media. (They are the modern day version of the Hepburn's)

Can Obama play this game, can he marginalize Republicans (specifically those rural Republicans who put Bush into office, not once, but twice?) Sure he can. He needs someone like the Rev Wright to help him, but not the Rev. Wright. The Right Wing clergy helped deliver Bush, and Democrats need to push back the Racist, Homophobic, subculture in America, and that means using Gay Marriage as their wedge issue.

In sum he should use the bully pulpit to marginalize hate and intolerance. Its a sweet challenge, and one Obama will embrace. His success will drive back the dark force in American politics, (and as the memory of 9/11 fades), and it will allow Republicans to return to their Conservative roots, which will restore the checks and balances between the branches of government. Who should Obama choose for VP? How about Atticus Finch?

Original article: Worst. Encyclopedia. Ever.

God does not play dice with the Universe

Natural selection may only be the removal of organisms which do not meet the new more narrow standards that the environment demands, and the purpose of the scientific experimant is to create a controlled environment. No one can prove that any single organism ever evolved to become what it is.

There is no direct evidence that smoking causes lung cancer, we only have statistical trends. Evolution relies on statistical trends, which requires that we play dice with the universe. Mankind has been able to create new forms of life, at what cost?

There is no difference between the mental processes, the scientific capabilities, and the methods of argument between Liberals and Conservatives, only their focus. Conservatives hold Einsteins statement to be a theological truism, while Liberals consider it an admonition. Is sin a personal matter, or the condition of mankind, something we can take into our own hands, like Prometheus?

I wouldn't demean the Conservatives, they are closer to the truth than we think.

Original article: The meaning of Starbucks

Anti Mass Marketing Demographic?

Makes me wonder how many of your regular readers care? I've never had a cup of Starbucks Coffee. I've eaten maybe one or two Krispy Kreme donuts in my entire life. I haven't eaten a Big Mac in my adult life. (I do like Doritos, but so does Colbert) Most of the demographic you attract, your readers, being better educated, concerned, and often not as materialistic, is that a fair assumption, are a Mass Marketing nightmare. I recently went to a Famous Dave's for lunch, and promptly sent my friends a scathing email review.

I could barbeque roadkill with some of Emeril's quick and dirty BBQ sauce, ketchup and molasses, and do better.

Just curious.

Why Bush will attack Iran

The attack on Iraq's nuclear reactor in 1981 was successful in containing and ulitmately bringing down the Iraq regime. It took some twenty two years, until 2003, but ultimately it achieved Israel's long term goals. The plan now expands to include Iran.

The Bush administration is planning long term bases in Iraq. The process which brought down Iraq will be repeated in Iran.

1) Bomb and neutralize the nuclear facilities 2) Draw Iran into a confrontation, and establish a no-fly zone over the Straights of Hormuz. The Democratic administration of Bill Clinton not only maintained the no-fly zone, they pressed the fight against the Republican guard, and prepared the way for the Bush invasion of 2003.

3) Once the regime has been isolated, and the UN does their part with oil for food, and other corrupt and clumsy attempts which only compromise Iran's soveignty, then operation "Cake Walk II" will begin.

4) the catalyst for such an operation is the compliance and support of the Soviets. The Soviets have supplied the weapons which Iran believes will prevent an attack. The Soviets sold an air defense system to the Syrians, which the Israeli's were able to neutralize in the attack on a suspected reactor site.

5)The Soviets may have given the Iranians the weapons, but they will also give the US/Israeli forces the ECM keys to circumvent the weapons. What do the Soviets want? Remove the missiles from Eastern Europe for starters, isolate a source of Islamic fundamentalism, the road on which runs all the way to Chechnya. The US also wants to isolate political leftists who did not support the war in Iraq, in Europe, so there are mutual goals here.

6)With Bush out of office, and little hope his successor would win the election, there was great hope that Clinton would win the election, because Republicans were able to run their Iraq policy throughout the first Clintons term. If you read Seymore Hersh, you realize that the Gang of Eight, cannot do much about the Bush plans, and will probably be obfuscated during the Obama Presidency, because they won't have an Senate majority. Ergo the Bush malfeasance will live on, and provide cover for these operations. Remember there is still a boatload of money in Republican coffers, offshore bank accounts, and so forth, with which to conduct illegal combat operations (a Bush One speciality).

7)The only defeat possible to this plan is a complete and absolute withdrawal from Iraq, and the likelyhood of that is nil. We may not invade Iran during Obama's term, but not long after, assuming a Republican is elected in 2012, or 16, American soldiers will be in Tehran.

8) As the price of oil goes up, Americans grow angry, and that tends to support military adventure. High oil prices are part of the plan.

9) Neoconservative hawks need a pretext to establish this no-fly zone, which they are certain they can push past Congress, and President Obama. Bush forced Fallon out because he wouldn't agree to a Gulf of Tonkin pretext.

10) Impeach the President
