So then, why, do you think, did Foxman write that letter to Moyers? Is Foxman stupid, and incapable of seeing that "nothing Moyers said or wrote was even close to anti-Semitic or unreasonable"? Or could it be that Foxman had hoped to intimidate Moyers - and anyone else who would speak or write as Moyers had - into canning it? No way that could have been Foxman's goal?

You see Kitt, this is why Glenn's cult is so marginalized on this issue, and why you don't hear this nonsense on any of the other left-wing blogs. You go from Foxman's critique to words like "intimidate" and "anyone else" as part of a grand attempt to silence. It's nonsensical.

Foxman wrote that letter to Moyers because he believes what he's saying. That's it. It's not part of a larger plan to "silence," which sounds like the whining we always hear from the conservatives about the "politically correct." This is why you and Pat Buchanan sound so similar these days. Conspiracy theories and persecution complexes.

Foxman's been attuned to legitimate anti-Semitism for so long (and there's a ton out there) that he's unable to hear Moyers attempts to bring another perspective in in a scholarly and nuanced way (unlike Glenn's "attack on Gaza!" one-sidedness). Now I personally don't agree with much of what Moyers said, but his motives are not in question. His integrity is not in question. Foxman should've had a disagreement without the flame throwing.

As to legit Israel and Jew hatred? Foxman would only need to read some of the posts in Glenn's threads. The "Zionists are Nazis" and "tribalism dual loyalty" accusations are flying in here like it's 1890s Russia.

Yeah, charges of anti-Semitism really ruined Henry Ford in the 1920s. It stopped The Radio Priest, Father Coughlin (the Limbaugh of his day) in his tracks in the 1930s. It stopped Joe McCarthy in 1950 when he killed the Rosenbergs and searched Hollywood for "anti-Christian Communists"?

Your "no one can say bad things about Israel" narrative is rapidly becoming the "liberal media" myth of the left.

The right spent years in our national media telling us our national media was "Liberal," ignoring the very right wing media apparatus that was broadcasting this canard. Now a bunch of pundits on the left can tell us how no pundits are allowed to criticize Israel while they criticize Israel.

None of this detracts from the increasingly legitimate criticisms of Israel's prosecution of their response to Hamas. I see no justification for some of this slaughter, it is well outside the bounds of proportionality, and we need not only an immediate cease-fire but journalists and humanitarian aid let into Gaza immediately. Israel can and should face severe criticism for what appears to be war criminal action as part of a larger, justified, military response.

But back to you, Glenn. I do appreciate how you've subtly shifted your discourse from our politicians/media being "afraid" to say their real thoughts on Israel to your new psychoanalytic read that this is a "subconscious" herd mentality, as you agree with Rosen here:

But so long as GG cites the United Nations and Europe as objective critics who only respond to Israeli war crimes through a purely humanitarian "horror" (and, of course, no inherent bias), while our government are automaton zombies completely craven and corrupted by herd mentality and corruption, there is little reality left to intrude on Glenn's us/other binary simplicities.
