@ Palestrajon

Good luck reasoning with the rabid Israel haters in here. So far I've explained how I support a two-state solution, supported offering the land deals in the 90s that was met with Arafat's Second Intifada, believe Israel can and does deserve criticism for when it violates the rules of engagement (as it is currently doing), and believe the Palestinian people deserve a homeland.

Of course, I'm a pro-Israel John Bolton-like zealot, or something. Because I believe Israel has a fundamental right to defend itself, because I believe Hamas is one of the vilest terrorist thug groups in the world, and because I believe the Second Intifada means Israel has a lot of leeway in choosing to make its country functional and its citizens feel protected.

I also believe anti-Semites use Israel's action to justify long-held and deeply rooted unhinged conspiracy theories about "Jewish power" that go back centuries. I'm cwazy!

@ Paul Daniel Ash

Nope. I've done it. And will not link for you again. I answered this call twice before and am not going to continue to provide evidence to those pre-judged not to hear it. Pearls before swine. Go back and find my posts if you'd like to see the quotes.

In the last discussion, I cited two posters specifically for their clear bigotry. In this thread, I cited a quote from "SunnyAfternoon," that personifies the anti-Jewish rage that is always unleashed by those who suffer from its afflictions when Israel gives them the cover of "legitimacy" to do so. I will not quote it again.

These threads are dripping with accusations of dual loyalty towards American-Jewish government officials, covert financing schemes involving AIPAC and PNAC, who have OMG! Jewish members, and secretly convinced the non-Jewish war leaders of Bush's cabinet to do their bidding and invade Iraq, etc. etc.

These would all sound plausable. If they hadn't been written almost word for word nearly a century ago in Henry Ford's Dearborn Independent.

A little historical research will show you that the "facts" you think you know about what's "really" going on behind the scenes in terms of America and Israel are simply warmed over and rehashed age-old libels about Jewish people.

As plausable as they seem, they speak very little to what's actually taking place in Washington or Israel or Gaza, and everytihng to do with what's going on in the person's mind who cites them.

@ Chris Sinnard

Blow me, clown. I've never referred to Palestinians as "animals" and I've never advocated killing them. If someone else did, I'll join you in condemning them.

@ Jebbie

What did I lie about?

I'm the only one here willing to wait for more facts to come in on exactly what's happened in Gaza the past week.

Amazingly, the rest of you already know Israel's committed war crimes. Even without any journalists there.

But seriously Jebster, since you're one of the noble heroes who cares so deeply for the plight of the poor, innocent Palestinian children and I'm the big boogeyman spreading pro-fascist propaganda, tell me... what did I lie about?

@ Lotus Feet

I'm a liberal, I just understand, like Orwell did, that propagandists on all sides of the political spectrum love to use the Jews as their hate-target.

There's a reason Orwell had 1984's "Two Minutes of Hate" directed at the evil capitalist "Goldstein."

"Goldstein's Two Minutes of Hate," would work beautifully in here. Just pop up a picture of Ehud Barak.

The Neo-Cons engage anti-Semitism all the time when they trash the "moneylender" George Soros and his secret liberal financing rings that work out of the "coastal elite" cities like San Francisco and New York. When O'Reilly rants about how "Soros funding" and the "media elites" are trying to fight a "War on Christmas" what is O'Reilly's coded message?

Jew hating, under cover of "Israel criticism," is neither the province of liberals or conservatives. It is a productive narrative in all corners of the political spectrum, as we see here.

@ omooex

The criticism of me that Glenn Greenwald and yourself use, that I'm "Palling around with Neo-Cons," is exactly the type of smear by ad hominem we should expect from the right.

The Neo-Con war mongers love EVERY war. They are racists at their core, and view Islam as a religion that should be wiped off the map. There is literally no scenario in which they would advocate against bombing Arab or Muslim countries, and/or killing Arab or Muslim people.

None of that is relevant to if they support this specific event.

I read a Charles Krauthammer piece today that made me want to puke. He wants Israel to run Gaza's Palestinians into the sea. He is a sick bastard. He needs medical attention.

However Glenn wants to smear me because I allow an understanding that Israel can and must defend itself through a violent response to Gaza rocket attacks, and that Hamas is despicable enough to hide in civilian areas. To Glenn, this makes me a Neo-Con nut.

This is the very manichean binaries Glenn critiques on the right. The very us/them reductive simplicities that prevent any real understanding of the complex interplay in the middle east.

It's why when Glenn uses the Iraq invasion's complete bankrupt justifications to explain how his "critics" attack him, he's reducing everything to the us/them simplicities the right did when they needed to "win the argument." It's why Glenn has become the very cartoon us/them keyboard warrior he once critiqued.

If Saddam was the cartoon uber-villian of Neo-Con fantasy, behind any and all terrorist attacks, secretly funding Al Qaeda, then to Glenn Greenwald, Israel is that same cartoonish villian. For Glenn's inversion of Neo-Con paranoia, Israel is Saddam.
