@ rrheard

Worthless response, as always:

One accusation of anti-semitism--check, One accusation of poor logic--check, One slap at Greenwaldia and its commenters--check

Oh, there'll be more. Greenwald's determined to be able to call certain American Jews politicians out for "Dual Loyalty" and how DARE anyone question his resurrection of the age-old narratives of history?

As we all know, Glenn Greenwald is not motivated by emotion as he weaves his narratives. He is purely fact based. Cold and calculating. Calling "balls and strikes" just like John Roberts on the Supreme Court.

No bias in Greenwald. None whatsoever. He uses "Dual Loyalty" for the Neo-Cons simply because some of them support Israel.

Nevermind the Neo-Cons like George W. Bush, Dick Cheney, Donald Rumsfield, Gary Bauer, Jeb Bush, Francis Fukuyama, Dan Quayle, or any of the other dozens of non-Jewish Neo-Con leaders.

It's gotta be Podhoretz. Or Kristol.

They're the real "Dual Loyalists."

Or Joe Lieberman (I-Israel).

Purely based on the facts, of course. Not the fact those uppity Jews dare to support another country.

One attempt at redefining the terms "dual loyalty" and "support"--check,

Dual Loyalty is a smear born out of 20th Century propaganda techniques in which the "Other" was questioned for not proving enough fealty to the Nation-State.

Greenwald, from his safe perch in Brazil, claims Podhoretz is not suitably loyal to the United States of America because he wants to support Israel.

This is the personification of the smear of "Dual Loyalty," a technique Glenn is dying to resurrect. Which will only help the Neo-Cons, who can rightly point to Greenwald's argument and call it out for the historical smear it is.

Which it is.

It's only the Jewish Neo-Cons who ever hear it.

One attempt to draw false equivalency between the wingnuttia of Podhoretz and the sanity of Greenwald--check.

I hold them both in contempt, but Greenwald at least has done great work on FISA back in 2006. Podhoretz is totally worthless.

BTW your latest "recced" piece at Kos--I'm sure your mother-in-law must be so proud to have a son-in-law like you. Almost a PhD, bashes her in front of a huge national audience (it is a little scary that she's an attorney though), what more could a mother-in-law hope for in a son-in-law. I bet family get togethers for Hanukkah are a real hoot.

You mean my step-mother? Nice to actually read the piece. But of the 700+ recs I received, I'll be sure to take your criticism as coming from the same unbiased, logic inspired place that Glenn Greenwald writes from. You and he share the same intellectual methods of construction -- rage in search of facts to support predetermined conclusions.

And, in that sense, you line right up with the Neo-Cons.

Greenwald Justifies "Dual Loyalty" Smear Technique

Isn't this the "dual loyalty" argument that nobody is allowed to make upon pain of being accused of all sorts of bad things -- that the political beliefs of some American Jews are shaped primarily or even exclusively by loyalty to Israel?

Uhm, no. No it isn't.

Dual Loyalty is the accusation that someone is secretly working to undermine their own government for the purposes of helping a foreign power or government, be it the smear that John Kennedy would "take his cues from the Vatican" or the numerous smears on Jewish politicians in America that they're secretly working for Israel.

Americans who support Israel have nothing to do with your favorite anti-Semitic go-to smear, and your leap in logic stems from the basic fact that support for Israel is not ipso facto betrayal of the United States.

Well, it is in Greenwaldia. But in the real world, most Jewish Americans who support Israel don't see it as connected to "betraying America." It's the anti-Semites, usually in the far right (Buchanan et. al.) but also here in this swampland, that try to make that false equivalency.

Podhoretz is a liar and a buffoon. But of the many things you could've called him out on, trying to gain cover for your own frequent use of Dual Loyalty smear techniques says far more about Glenn Greenwald then it does about Norman Podhoretz.

The Latest Hissy Fit

I should be more "careful" about attacking "allies" if I wanted to expand my platforms and get on television. That's how the culture works.

I'm shocked, SHOCKED, to discover politics plays a role in politics!!

Glenn, if you really want to change the world, you're going to have to work with people. Otherwise you'll just sound like the whiny hissyfitter throwing mudballs from Brazil at anyone (which is everyone) who doesn't live up to your perfect idealized standards.

Klein is a gasbag, but so are you.

And you're an "establishment journalist" too, bub. Stop pretending you're Che.
