What's funny is that in Revenge of the Nerds, when the Nerds finally took over the Greek Council, they preached non-violence and inclusiveness.
When these Nerds took over our National Press, they simply became war-mongerers themselves.
Joe Klein should be completely discredited. He should get a job reporting on the horse races in Florida. At least that way, he can be right once in awhile.
That was as funny as a root canal.
That Op/Ed was disgraceful. I find it hard to believe a major newspaper, heck any newspaper in the country, can justify printing something like that.
Yeah, other than supporting the Iraq War thing, Hillary was fantastic.
Sorry bub. Whatever extra "qualifications" were achieved by Hillary's extra time in the Senate, they're more than destroyed by her idiotic support for the invasion of Iraq.
Half the democrats in the House and Senate voted against the war when it was politically scary to do so. Hillary was not one of them.
She is every bit the spineless politician of yesteryear, and there's a reason she lost to Obama. A good reason.
What Glenn points out on a daily basis, and what's so important to note about the republican media smearmongers, is that *no* democratic candidate will ever be allowed to pass without a complete savaging of character along three basic axes of suspicion:
1. Not enough loyalty to America
2. Queerness/gender inversion
3. Clownishness
Those moaning about Obama's "Muslim" problem fail to grasp that it will never matter who we nominate. John Edwards, a child of poverty from the south who rose to prominence, can't escape their bashing.
Theirs is a party living in Hollywood fictions, good guys and bad guys in easily identifiable tropes -- uber-masculine normative heterosexual white superiority, and ethnic, queered foreign villianery.
There are only two real ways to fight back. The first is what Glenn does, mocking and ridiculing their hypocrisy in a savage, unflinching, and factually supported way (using their own words against them), and the second is mocking and ridiculing the republican candidate as ridiculous.
For John McCain that means making fun of his oldness, his befuddledness, his confusion, his physical weakness and his wrinklyness.
Do I wish it could be about the issues instead of nonsense? Of course.
But if it was about the issues, Gore and Kerry would've won landslide victories.
So until we deconstruct the mass media blockade that Glenn assaults on a daily basis, our only recourse is for our footsoldiers to mock and riducule their candidate right back.
Our standards will naturally be higher -- we'll be fact based and won't use racism. But the mocking and ridiculing is the only proper response. And in John McCain's case, it's well deserved.
Another way to realize just how juvenile and grade school republican sexuality is, is to realize how they use hyper-masculine sex words to describe their policy.
"The Surge"
"The Stimulus"
I wouldn't be surprised if the next George W. Bush policy initiative is labeled the "Big Cock."
They're children playing hyper-masculine dressup and using schoolyard "fag" taunts to ridicule their opponent.
And, as Obama understands in ways John Kerry and Al Gore did not, the only way you stop a bully is to hit them. Not to reason with them. Not to appeal to a compromise or ask for civilized discourse.
But to smack them right back with the same dripping ridicule.
Glenn-
Please please PLEASE write a column desconstructing the absolutely fawning, biased and pathetic Politico article by Jonathan Martin and Ben Smith about how "unconventional" and unpredictable Matt Drudge is because he's not smearing Obama with the same overwhelming lies that he did with Kerry and Gore.
It is a goldmine of everything that's wrong in our press in one single article. Check out this unchallenged anonymous source:
“The MSM is already sending love letters to Obama,” said a GOP operative who worked for the Bush-Cheney reelection. “That’s something that has traditionally been countered on the Republican side with talk radio, blogs to a lesser degree but especially Drudge. If those tools are not part of the Republican vehicle for message delivery, that’s crippling.”
Completely unchallenged are three assumptions: 1. The Mainstream Media is liberal and in the bag for Obama (no mention of the fawning over McCain for 8 years and the savagery done to Obama by the media over Wright), 2. Right Wing propaganda radio is simply a necessary counterbalance to counter the massively liberal mainstream media that loves Obama so much (no mention of Fox News, nor McCain worship, nor Bush worship) and 3. Drudge simply helps balance the broad liberal bias.
All that in one unchallenged paragraph from an anonymous source.
The article gets far worse from there, the whole thing a broad justification for the "Maverick" Matt Drudge and his important role in the process, with zero investigation of why mainstream media is so broken.
Check out how the writers mischaracterize the "typical white woman" comment and also the number of republicans quoted in the article.
Sorry to post this alert here, but not sure where Glenn's email address is to be found.

I can think of no greater testament to the character of John McCain then when he returned from Vietnam and immediately divorced his first wife (and mother of his two children) so he could marry his mistress, a 24 year old hottie heiress who then financed his first political campaign.
Why isn't this worthy of discussion among our so-called "mainstream" media?
We got 8 years of discussion of every Bill Clinton sex rumor that came down the pike, but NO ONE in the media wants to talk about how John McCain cheated on his first wife, then divorced her to marry a trophy wife?
How Cindy McCain's millions paid for John McCains extravagant life of luxury for the past 30 years?
How is this not news worthy?
