Just a couple of quick thoughts.

1. Am I the only one who noticed that Palin still hasn't been able to name a single paper from Alaska that she reads?

Sure she now claims to read both the New York Times, and U.S.A Today, but didn't throw out a name from Alaska like the Anchorage Daily News.

2. There are two types of class, financial, and social. One has to do with how much money you have, the other with the kind of person you are. Sometimes, like in Kennedy's case, a person has both. More often a person has one, or the other. My late Grandmother, who didn't have a pot to piss in, was the classiest person I've ever known. Palin seems to have access to more money than my grandmother ever had, but is still classless.

3. Magdelyn, you need to get over the fact that your parents didn't have the means to send you to Europe. Mine didn't either, so I worked for a year at a job I hated, saved my money, and went on my own. You should too, if going means that much to you

Palin used that line as the fist shot in her democrats are elites, republicans are Joe Sixpack class warfare election strategy. It didn't work for her then, it doesn't work for her now. To carry it off, you have to have certain amount of personal "class", other wise it just sounds like whining.

Guess what? She whines.

Not to blow my own horn, but......

Not to blow my own horn here but, Alexander's suggestion about low interest rates is a t least partially stolen from a letter Sen. Sanders read on the floor of the Senate during the debate over the bailout. I know, I wrote the letter.

I wrote it because I was concerned (and rightly so it turns out) about the way the bailout was going to work. I felt, and still feel, that we should be spending the bailout like a venture capitalist would. We shouldn't be giving out cash to irresponsible banks to keep them solvent, but only be buying their bad assets for penny's on the dollar. We should never buy a mortgage for more than the house was, or even is worth. Why should we underwrite these banks profits?

Then we should offer the home owner a chance to convert their defaulted mortgage to a low fixed rate, based on the actual worth of the home, and not some preposterous bubble based price.

the only difference is that Alexander's plan seems to bypass those who are already in trouble, and of course helps the banks.

There is a joke about this:

What's the difference between Democratic Bailout and a Republican Bailout?

The Democrats throw money at a problem, the Republicans throw money at their friends.

It Boggles The Mind

Since I don't have time to read all 85 comments before I leave for work, I'll just post.

It just boggles the mind. The same party that gave us "Just Say No", and the "War On Drugs" is so beholden to...basically a recovering junkey, and I'm pretty sure he has other chemical dependencys other than Oxycontin.

There's his Viagra habit to begin with. If any big name liberal went overseas on an all male "fishing trip", and was arrested for coming back with a cache of illegal Viagra we would never hear the end of it from Rush. Never.

If that liberal was known to smoke large cigars on a regular basis, like Rush, I'm sure of the conclusions he would come up with are obvious. After all, according to Freud, sometimes a cigar is more than just a cigar.

Now, I'm sure I'm going to get jumped on for saying this here but that's ok. I sometimes think that we're too polite as liberals when we don't point out, and continue to point out, the hypocrisies many big name conservatives operate under. We just shrug our shoulders and go "Human weakness" and let it go at that. For the most part that's my instinct too, but the are people out there that don't let anything go, like Rush, ever, and I think we should do the same to him. that's mt 2 cents worth.

The GMing of Saturn

It took 100 years for GM to screw up Oldsmobile, and less than 20 to screw up Saturn. I've owned 3 that I loved, they were affordable got good gas mileage and surprisingly enough were well built. They stood behind the products they made, and the price was the price. Then GM took more control, and low and behold, they stopped doing what they were good at. Now with my current Saturn hitting 10 years of age and 200,000 miles I find my self looking for something they don't have. a practical, affordable car that get's good gas mileage and doesn't look like every other GM out there. It's a pity that they lost the mission, but that's GM for you.

Republiclowns

Hey I'm all for their resolution as long as they agree to call themselves Republiclowns. It seems fair.

I don't understand.

I have to acknowledge, not understanding societies fascination with virginity. I just don't. Why is sex the only aspect of our existence where inexperience is considered a good thing?

I've never meet anyone willing to ride with someone who's never driven a car before, or fly with pilot who's never flown, even if they did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night. But when it comes to sex.....I just don't get it.

As for these virginity auctions, I'm all for any woman who can make a profit on what is usually the most disappointing experience of their life. Even if it's just the lowly sum of a Walmart employees salary.
