Somebody has to be President

As I read the readers who are pro Obama or the future Palin, it reminds me of my huge extended family Thanksgiving dinner table.

The majority of the pro-Republican side did not have a clue about government policy or whom actually represented what. People were labeled liberal or conservative. (I asked someone to define liberal and they pointed at me.) My Republican relatives thought it was no big deal that Sarah did not know about the Bush doctrine, because, hell, they didn't either. Generally, they know a lot about football or fashion, but little or nothing about government. But, hey, my brother knows Sarah is HOT.

As for the Obama people, some of us knew a lot about the issues. A couple of the younger Obama voters were into celebrities and voting for Obama because he was 'cool.' Some would never vote for Palin because she was just stupid. Tina Fey was so good at copying her. (Think about that conservatives.)

One Republican really knew the issues. An older person, world wise, and someone who despised the waste of the new Deal Era. However, that person voted for Obama because he recognized wisdom and thought the new conservatives had gone mad.

Maybe one out of five people voted on issues. My extended family is about as American as they come, a cross section of education and values, work ethic and politics. We were evenly divided between Obama and McCain.

It became so obvious to me our President is decided on who can win the popularity contest. Forget policy, forget facts, forget anything else. No wonder Obama won, he was just so damn much more appealing than the conservatives. Heaven help us if the Republicans ever pick Carrie Underwood for President.

@Chernobyl Kid

Your three steps are brilliant.

Better than anything the pundits are saying. And the reason for firing Cheney, beyond all the criminal stuff?

Job abandonment. Where in the hell is the evil dark lord anyway? Counting his money? Writing his own pardon for his evil crimes?

Plastic spoons?

The Bush adminstration is sinking and they are trying to shovel their way out by suggesting we don't use plastic ware.

This is frickin' hilarious. They let New Orleans drown, now they don't want us to use plastic spoons. There is a government wannabe Stephen Colbert writing this for the EPA, correct?

Nice legacy Georgie boy.

Why are they scared?

President Obama has said he isn't going to touch the 'Fairness Doctrine.' So, who cares?

But this brings up a larger question: If the right wing isn't doing obviously so slanted, why are they so afraid of a fairness doctrine?

Why are they so afraid of exposing an opposing opinion? Or, could it be that old Rush and company are just full of crap after all?

And to paraphrase them, if they ain't got nothing to hide, why are they so worried?

The real 'Sarah'

Been talking to my relatives, neighbors and coworkers, here in Republican la-la land. Where they love 'Sarah', they really, really, love 'Sarah' and what 'Sarah' stands for in our country.

The Sarah lovers can't wait for her to run again. Meanwhile, the State's largest and Sarah lovin' newspaper is running the story about where the Klan meets. (Of course, they are shocked, shocked!! such bigotry exists in Oklahoma!)

As much as I am sick of 'Sarah', as much as I can't wait for everyone to shut up about 'Sarah', as much as I can't understand 'Sarah', I finally GET it. They are in love. Hate is their love.

And, as long as there is hate in America--fueled by many churches--'Sarah' is here to stay.

However, hate is a very simple, easily identifiable emotion. Just like Sarah.

Just Quit

Quit pretending these people even represent anything that Jesus taught.

I firmly believe the destruction of Christianity will be brought on by Christians themselves. While there are many Christians who are trying to follow the teachings of Jesus, they are mostly silent.

Here, in this god awful red state, I can only think of one minister who loudly speaks out against this stuff.

So Christians, be prepared. Although many co-followers maybe well intentioned and this is not your philosophy, the loudest pseudo-Christians among you make you look bad.

And unless the majority of YOU true Christians speak out, your religion is going down. The the self righteous, hypocritical leaders and James Dobson followers are being exposed and soon, within a generation or two, no one will listen any more.

Hillary as SOS

As someone who has been called an Obamatron for a long time now, I fully support the idea of Hillary as SOS.

In this instance, we really DO get two for one. Bill would be put to good use, traveling with Hillary, you so know he would be there!

Don't underestimate the mind of President Obama. If he picks Hillary, then he has thought this through. I also believe he will pick Gov Richardson for something else, something we aren't considering right now.

As for the Senate, there is a leader there. We just aren't considering who it is. Obama is familiar with that group much more than we are. He knows who they will vote as their leader. Maybe it is some Senator that is popular among them but just doesn't do the talk shows so much.

On his picks for his advisors, let's just trust Obama to pick his choices. I think he will make some mistakes, but overall get a good cross section of opinions and people. At least we won't have the Texas mafia moving in. No Brownies. No Monica Goodings. No 'never answer a question' Rumsfield. No calls to James Dobson. No "The Iraq War will pay for itself" Wolfwitz. And, best of all, no Dick Cheney.

And, finally, yes, finally, a Justice Department that is not out to make up laws for the President.
