Blantant sexism? Whoa Girl! Many of us have experienced the glass ceiling. However, it is not our duty to go out and appoint a woman, just because she is a woman, to the highest office in the land.
As a feminist I believe that the way we should select a candidate is pick the one who we believe is best for the job, the one who could do the best for our country.
Look at the nomination process. Early on, I liked Hillary. I live in a Super Tuesday state. As the candidates came through town last year, I went to see them all except Hillary because I could not afford it. Hillary wanted $1000 per person. She could not be bothered with the 'little people.' Obama wanted a $25 donation if you could give it, if not you could get 'scholarship' tickets. Richardson and Edwards wanted whatever you could give.
When Hillary was the sure fire winner she did not give a damn about us little people. She would not even agree to a short meeting with us, not even a chance to see walk to her $1000 fundraiser. Now, she is desperate for all the little votes.
Sexism? No way. This race is about Hillary. She couldn't be bothered with me, so why should I bother with her? BTW, I became an Obama supporter. Early on, he MOVED the crowd. He had something special that I had never seen before. After Hillary's snub, I thought that I would pick Edwards until I saw Obama. Hillary became my last choice based on her "I am the crowned one" attitude. (BTW, McCain is doing the same thing now, charging $2300 a person to see him!)
So, don't tell me this is about sexism. This is about choice, and my ability as a feminist to make one.
Just a check of the disgusting Michelle "My Family deserved to be interned in an American Japanese camp in WWII" Malkin's website. It is a devotional to why she hates Obama and Hillary.
Nothing anywhere on her website about McCain's Sunni/Shia mistakes, or anything else McCain has said or done that is wrong.
Also, it could be noted that Auschwitz was more than one camp, including Buchenwald. And, Obama's uncle was there to liberate camps including Birkenanau.
Sunni/Shia, Buchenwald/Birkenanau. Some spoken words are gaffes, some are reasons to be beaten up in the press.
And, by the way, Ms. Malkin's website is one of the most racist, arrogant miserable pieces of American blogging around.
I knew that kind of hatred existed in America, I just wanted to pretend it didn't.
Thank you for pointing out my mistake. Everybody loves to know when they are wrong, and we love to have it made public by others.
Phew! I am so glad I am not now, nor will I ever be, running for President!
Yeah, Coburn, return to that conservative stuff. Like your home state, one of the most conservative in the country.
Where we rank dead last in health care for the children. And high school graduation. And college graduates. And average salaries.
We are first in stuff like teen pregnancy, meth use, and women in prison. We are also high in numbers of Republicans.
And churches, we must have more churches per person than anywhere else. And those huge god-awful aluminum Jesus crosses by the roadway.
And tornadoes per square mile. God must really hate us.
Conservative roots. It is SOOOOOOO good.
On the evening news last night, Tom Brokaw actually stated that McClellan's book was truthful, but he was too hard on the press.
Why, old Tom maintained that the press "actually DID provide anti-war coverage! They did provide all sides!"
Brokaw believed the White House, it was not HIS job to delve into their arguments.
And, of course "there was propaganda, didn't we citizens know that? All wars have propaganda!"
Then, Chris Matthews was shrilling that HE ALWAYS was providing the information against the war! He, and his colleagues, were the only ones who did!!!
Ah, history re-written before your eyes.....
Although we were called nuts, leftys, anti-war, anti-American, pro-Bin Laden, pro-Hussein, etc. etc. etc. WE KNEW.
Millions of us KNEW in our gut the war was wrong. So, what isn't the media out reporting on the reporters, like Glenn or Amy Goodman who got it right all along?
Most so called left wing reporting these days is just the real news, way ahead of the MSM. Every bit of this new 'revelation' has been reported for years, as we all know.
Too bad the so-called real media doesn't do its job; we would be light years ahead and the neo- conservatives would have been exposed for just what they were.
It would not have been that hard. There plans are all out there on the internet. Just start googling. Those plans were posted well before Bush took office. Some of us read them.
If these guys ever do get indicted, I firmly believe they will say: "We never hid a thing, it was all on the internet. It wasn't our fault the media did not report it. " And, to a large degree, that will be exactly true.
ENOUGH ALREADY! Hillary did not get cheated! She has lost! The whining makes feminists look like everything we have been called all these years.
As a woman that is in the so-called Hillary demographic, I say this: Not all of us are sheep. Not all of us believe she is entitled. Not all of us believe a 'a woman at any cost.' (Would Condi Rice do?)
Unless some magic math is out there that I do not see, any way Hillary wins now is a steal. If it were the opposite, it would be a steal by Obama. Wouldn't those headlines be something? Talk about something to talk about!
So, let's see what the Rules Committee says and abide by it once and for all. Then everybody sit down and shut up.
We need to defeat McCain, not each other.
