Here is what is is about the LDS and polygamy, in practical terms. Forget the religion.

If you have paid in to Social Security all your life, your spouse can collect off your benefits. In a polygamist marriage, which spouse gets to collect? Just one? What about the other women? They have been literally screwed by some male dominated religion. And should worker health insurance cover five wives?

What if one spouse wants to get out? Where does this set with property settlement, who gets what? And heaven forbid, what if the man wants the divorce from all of them?

Also, most polygamist cults seem to want it both ways. They want to be 'single mothers' for the state and federal benefits, but a celestial marriage to get to their private planet someday. What a bunch of superstitious hooey.

The laws should be defined to say: Marriage is between two consenting adults. Period.

And to shut the Bill O'Reillys of the world up, remind the jerk that the adult has to be at least 18. That should knock the wind out of his "A man wants to marry a duck..." Ever met an 18 year old duck that could sign paperwork or otherwise be mentally sound enough to agree to such arrangement?

Why can't we expose those lunacies? Why has this country been more sympathetic to the FDLS whack jobs in Texas but still hates gays? Which one is causing more harm to children? Religion or gays? What an obvious answer......

Would somebody TELL THAT GUY WHO DOES NOT KNOW CAPS IS SCREAMING what the America First group was all about?

Republicans apparently don't even know what their own slogans mean. They have no concept of history.

And, I really, really wonder what the news media might have done if Barack Obama had made a joke about pointing a gun at Huckabee.

It would not have been nearly as pretty.

My 26 year old niece had this type of tumor. She lived two years after diagnosis.

I am so sorry, Senator Kennedy has been a true friend of the poor and the elderly. May he find true peace for his remaining years.

Hillary did get the white, working class registered Democratic voters in several so called red states. She won my state. But here is a clue about many of those voters: An awful lot of those Democrats have been voting for Republicans every time since LBJ. Between Hillary and Obama, they will pick the white over the black every time. But, they will overwhelmingly vote McCain in November, even if he has taken food out of their mouth, even if he insults them personally, even if he tells them he will send their kids to a meaningless war.

I cannot tell you how many people have said they 'just don't trust Obama.' Translation: He is African American. But they also say will never vote for Hillary in the general election. They 'hate that bitch.' (White does trump black, but white male trumps all.) Honestly, I think many would change their registration to Republican, but they don't know how or are too lazy/busy to do so. I have set at voter registration booths and had many people come by and change their party registration because that was they only way they knew how to get rid of that 'Democrat' on their voter ID. (Many had originally registered that way because a family member was an old time Dixie Democrat.)

Bigotry and sexism is alive and well in much of this country. Seems the rules are that the President must have a white penis to run it; apparently just like Jesus does. (Why they don't get that irony is beyond me...)

THANK GOD for blue states. We liberals in these overwhelmingly red states love you.

The only negative I can think about if Gore had been awarded the Presidency he won is this: Lieberman would be VP now. And, as VP that would mean that that he would probably be a leading candidate for the Democratic Presidental nomination.

I shudder to think of THAT possibility. While I will always believe Gore would have been a far, far better President than Dubya, I believe Lieberman would have been just awful as Veep. He would have pushed for war as much as the Republicans.

This is what happens when Democrats pander too much to the right. I believe Gore was advised to pick a right of center Democrat. Many of us were not too particularily impressed with Lieberman at the time, but I just thought he was wimpy. As we now know, Lieberman turned out to be a disgusting neo-con.

Throw Lieberman off the train. He is no longer any kind of "Independent Democrat." He is a war mongering fool. I am ashamed that I had to vote for him when I cast my vote for then Vice President Gore.

When Lieberman takes the stage with the Republicans this year, he becomes another Zell Miller. Lieberman is not the Senator for Connecticut, he is the unofficial Senator for Israel. Heck, why not just let them elect their own?

We are not Republicans. Most of us don't follow anything like sheep; not even each other. Getting us to agree is like herding cats, we just don't.

So, how in the heck do they expect to sway us? Are they really so stupid to believe we can't pick out trolls?
