The way you two authors did that piece, wow, and I wished I had my little league catchers mitt and cup...Good pitching and scooping up the wild pitches...A few sprained knuckles won't last forever. Batters up, bar-boy ready, and thanks.
But "control" is a word more ordinary revealing here, for its root is to roll against, in the sense of a little wheel turning in opposition to the greater audience-population.
The politics have turned against the 'fans.' They have been paid off, and they play, and lobby "soft" balls for the "big league," which is the g-8- team-owners. Those who get the food-MSM-contracts, sell those terrible high price, indigestible, ketchup-relish wiener-dogs, 6-budweiser's, some lukewarm coo-cola's, a spread of mustard on a figure-8 dough-Pretzels, a tiny bag of shelled peanuts, and a box of stale cracker-jacks for more than their worth...NOT worth a plug nickel? I'd return to trusting the dime a dozen politico's looser-ball. The game players are pro-war...pro-kill a mushroom lover for a buck, as it exist now. They have ignored wizened built in, fore-founders, written protections.
The precious written "rule-books," aka- The Bill of Rights, Constitution, and so forth.
The principles of control, then, in a good functional government involves necessary divisions: one thing may turn against another thing by being divided against it. What turns in opposition is what the poet William Blake (inspiration is from Wendell Berry's writings, and Berry too is a Yogi Berra of sorts in his field) understood as evil.
There is real evil, imho. Evil with no " ___ ". Milton spoke of "Satanic wheels" and "satanic mills": wheel without wheels, with cogs tyrannic/Moving by compulsion with each other (money and corporate backing and "their" selfish interest).
Blake, and good writers today, are putting emphasis on the real essential interest of the times being ignored and neglected, The Community. Two cogwheels can be in motion against each other. The motion, point being, one can turn against the other's better interest, IRONIC, and the opposite of it's own, g-8's own, children, grandchildren, "we people's" interest. Wow. True. We are human people. duh. Remember.
This, I suppose, the 'cog' is okay if we are talking a mechanical "gadget-contraption, labor saving sensible, and a noise-maker-machines, makes a contribution."
Machines break down and use nonhuman energy fuel, in other words. It's not acceptable if we are involved, investing, in a "global economy" player-team that breaks-down people, exploits, and preys with trickery, double speak, and uses a poor manner's fork tongue.
Metaphors can help us to understand fundamental and interwoven relationships. An awful lot that goes on right in front of our eyes is a "wheel in motion against a wheel" and it does grind....It's not a smooth, greased, and harmonious good scheme commotion for the betterment of all people.
The wheel we/me is/are talking about is not mechanical. There is a 'story' I'm thinking about in Ezekiel, chapter one: "the spirit of the living creature was in the wheels." The wheels of opposition oppose the spirit of the living creature. wow.
A old friend gave me one of those One Year bibles. It takes a bit from the O.T, New, Proverbs, Psalms, Prophetical and weaves a daily theme in a 20 minute sitting. I read it as old literature as I would read the daily Salon etc., I don't go-ape-founder-crazy. It's a interesting era we share.
I respect the peaceful person who ask me to give 20-minutes a day in the "black-book." It's enjoyable. I got carried off by a wild pitch, here? I just wanted to say, you two, catcher and pitcher, did make me wish I was as innocent as a play-ball Yogi bear in the woods picking mushrooms, or some time later...Blueberries?
Flashback: thanks to Patrick M. Reynolds.
Juliette Gordon Low was respectable. "Why" I'll tell you why, shooter242.
She started a troop of girl scouts with good intent and she reasoned, even while her physical bodily handicap-Deaf, could have made another person wish to 'shoot' a bad doctor? She was from Scotland. Many people were hungry, poor, and suffered then too. Instead of letting the girls go to work in Then/Them day's sweat shops (g-8-creeps), she had them raise grass-fed, and healthy scratch grain supplements, of good plump barnyard chickens.
The farm girls could stay home and remain happy, safe, and wise. The girls sold eggs, attended sport events, and furnished hunting lodges with baked foods, and egg-salad sandwiches? Julliet came back to America and she settled her model plan that worked in the struggling American South. She called them not British or Islamofascist, but American Girl Scout Guides and Troops.
The good girls planted Victory Gardens, filled coffee canteens at the railroad stations, and they then assisted nurses during the Spanish Flue pandemic of 1918.
The (Boy Scouts too) developed a 'no child' left behind, sorta, opportunity to develop self reliance (not nasty abrasive-ego-rugged, self-serve, selfish, individualism's) and resourcefulness to pursue happy and fulfilling lives.
Juliette Low is dead. A memorial to her is a bronze medallion laid into the sidewalk on the way to the White House. It's on the "Points of Light Pathway" near the stolen house on Penn Ave. Hint.
