Red Sox still lovable losers?

Sorry, King, but a team that wins a World Series, then a division three years later has lost all rights to being tagged lovable losers. In fact, there was nothing lovable with them to begin with (but you got the last part right.) The Cubs are still allowed to carry that mantle.

And to the poster who compared the starting pitching between the Yanks and Indians, you forgot Pettitte, who is the number 2 in that 1-2 combo (Clemens is the 3rd starter.) Sure, the Indians still have the better 1-2 punch, but at least make the comparison honest.

Don't think the Angels are winning this year

They've been the perennial favorite every year because of a top-notch pitching staff. But with Escobar done (perhaps for life), Lackey out 4-6 weeks and Shields with a strained right shoulder, the Angels are looking mighty vulnerable. Sure, Garland looked good last night, but how long will he keep that up? Meanwhile, Weaver looks more and more like his brother as time goes on, and Santana is long reliever on most other teams. Their greatest strength has been greatly diminished. And they're surely not going to hit their way to a division championship. The Angels are done this year.

She didn't say he can't beat McCain

She said "He cannot win," meaning she won't allow him to win, because she can't imagine the presidency belonging to anyone else but her.

When

will we start seeing the masthead read War Room by Steve Benen? Soon, I hope.

Same

can be said of Hillary in early 2003. Another non-story from Alex. Why did Steve Benen have to leave?

I think it's clear what he said

He said, "Those people are shitting," meaning the Bush people. At first, I thought he was referring to the people of Indiana, but a close listen reveals that's not the case. The second part everyone's in arms about is complete horseshit. And I say this as an Obama supporter.

It's true

She has been saying this consistently - ever since she started losing the nomination.

What a hypocrite.

Chalk up another who doesn't get this

Of course, nary a peep in the MSM (or Salon, for that matter) about Phil Gramm, who lobbied for USB, a central player in the sub-prime fiasco - and he's advising McCain's economic policies.

I'm for Clark

Aside from the points others have already mentioned, I think Clark will help lure Clinton voters because he's been a Clinton guy for many years. Both Hillary and Bill could easily throw their support behind him and sound plausible doing so. Also, picking Clark would avoid the problem of losing two Senators instead of one. We need to maintain as strong a hold on the Senate as possible, if only to kick Lieberman to the curb.

Nice try, Salon...

Okay, dude

It's time to put the birther thing to bed. You've become obsessed. So put down your fake Kenyan birth certificate and step away...

How many

of these clowns chanting "Read the bill" have actually read the bill themselves? And if on the off chance one of them did - which I highly doubt - then I would love to know where it says that old people are going to be euthanized or medical care is going to be rationed or whatever other crackpot idea that these delusional people believe will happen.

Friday, August 14, 2009 11:21 AM

@Geogre

Of course Alex is not surprised by this. In fact, he has actively done the same thing on many occasions, the most recent being his obsession with the Birthers and Orly Taitz. Why on Earth would someone write so many posts on those lunatics other than to get us to click on them? The only interest he had was increasing the amount of hits for his blog. Knowing that the Birther nonsense elicits strong emotional reactions from all sides, he posted even he most inconsequential story in order to rile everyone up. And that keeps the bosses at Salon happy.
