Hyerbole, ad hominems, straw men....

are the only arguements the pro-talking-with-driving crowd seems to have.

"Bill Clinton advisor Dick Morris"

Why is he always described as this? Morris is a mealymouthed little twerp who has had it in for Clinton and the democrats for years. His short stint as an advisor is now far outweighed by his years of Clinton bashing.

Bush lied us into a war but who cares? John Edwards had an affair!

Forged letters? Lies which put us into a pointless war? Who cares?

JOHN EDWARDS HAD AN AFFAIR! AND HE LIED ABOUT IT!

Let the media feeding frenzy begin. Bush and his evil cronies are laughing all the way to the bank.

Fuck the National Enquirer. Edwards is no longer in office and was not even on the "long list" of VP candidates. This is a personal thing and I don't give a shit if he lied to the anthropomorphic lumps of feces from the NE who call themselves journalists. They deserved no less.

Serious question:

Why cant Obama sue for libel?

Friday, August 15, 2008 12:13 PM

@bartelby

I am wondering the same thing. Libel is libel.

Actually....

According to the brief press conference I just watched:

She's not dead. In critical condition, but not dead.

Thursday, August 21, 2008 07:58 PM

And now, from the folks who brought you "President George W Bush", we present....

The "PUMAS".

and

The "Jaded".

Bah. Fuck you people. You have no one's best interest at heart.

Vote Obama or you are part of the problem.

@mjn3457

My previous post was aimed right down your throat, loser.

Thursday, August 21, 2008 08:23 PM

@lolcait

Yes we do. But you are not a "Clinton Person". A "Clinton Person" is a DEMOCRAT and will vote as such. You are a rabble rousing REPUBLICAN. We do not need your vote.

Thursday, August 21, 2008 09:46 PM

@NYdem08

You are ten pounds of shit in a five pound bag.

"Party backbone", my ass.

Friday, August 22, 2008 08:08 AM

And they all got screwed. Price drop soon.

According to rumors floating around engadget and gizmodo, HDTV prices will be dropping pretty drastically in the next couple of weeks.

Whats the difference between a PUMA and a FREEPER?

I dunno. Tits?

Monday, August 25, 2008 07:41 AM

How about McCain's first wife?

If this is gonna get ugly, might as well go for the jugular.

Friday, August 29, 2008 11:34 AM

Thanks, old man!

What a silly pick. He trades off the whole experience argument in order to attract a tiny (pro life?) segment of Hillary's people. Obvious pandering, and will be seen as such by the very people he is trying to attract.

So thanks, ya old raisin. You just handed the presidency to Obama! W00t!

Original article: Staycation Nation

It's not that bad...

I guess it depends on where you live and how you'd define "staycation" (and I think that word is ugly too). I suppose if you define it as literally staying at home, yeah, that'd suck. However, I live in the North Shore of MA, and within 2 hours drive, I have 200 miles of coastline, mountains, lakes, a major city with all it has to offer, tons of historical, cultural and natural sites, quaint cities and towns, amusement parks, casinos and who knows what else is out there. I usually avoid traveling outside New England in the summertime, simply because this region rocks - when it is warm.

Of course its a totally different picture in the winter, but even then there is stuff to do. Personally, I'll be missing our usual vactation to someplace warm, but at least there is skiing.

Choky McChokechoke

He looks embarrassed. He should be.

Just for fun

google "palin affair". This could get FUN.

Original article: No home run for McCain

Embarrassing.

McCain looked like a fish out of water. He could not keep up with the teleprompter, missing his own applause lines and screwing up his rhythm. He looked uncomfortable and even personally embarrassed by his own performance. The content of the speech was garbled by his own mixed messages and lacked any details for people to grab hold of.

He looked like a sad old man. A man who missed an opportunity long ago and is trying again, but knows its already lost.

This was the worst public performance by a politician of this campaign season at least. I simply can't remember listening to a more inept attempt at speechcraft.

Original article: No home run for McCain

And seriously "Fight with me"?

Someone should let the McCain campaign know that when they choose a sound bite, they should choose one that can only be interpreted in one way. Cats fight "with" dogs too.

Deval Patrick

Glenn's probably right, but I am reminded of Patrick's campaign. He took the high road against a fusillade of negative attacks. In the end, his opponent, Kerry Healey, just ended up looking craven and lost the election by 20 points. Now Massachusetts may not be a bellwether for the U.S. in general, but its worth noting that MA had not elected a Democrat for governor since Dukakis, who left office in 1991.

"The letter is apparently correct, hasn't been fully vetted yet but some sites are verifying its authenticity."

www.snopes.com

It is authentic.

Monday, September 8, 2008 04:48 PM

That's the kind of stuff...

... that'll win the election for Obama. Right on.

Note the lack of trolling on this forum

This scares them.

Original article: Quote of the day

"Vitamin D deficiency can result from: inadequate intake coupled with inadequate sunlight exposure"

Something seemed fishy here. I'd heard about SAD and light treatments, but never heard anyone claim tanning beds were necessary.

Simple wikipedia search cleared it up.

"Vitamin D deficiency can result from: inadequate intake coupled with inadequate sunlight exposure..." or various disorders.

Sunlight is only necessary for vitamin D production if you are not getting enough in your food. Fish and milk is all you need, and you don't need to subject yourself to the unnecessary and riskier step of synthesizing it from your skin.

Too late!

No matter what, Snowjob is too late for the party.

Conservatism died last week with a 700 billion nail in its coffin. The next few years will be an exercise in routing out and exposing conservatism for the "bankrupt" philosophy it is.

Original article: McCain gets testy

Watch that lizard tongue!

See fivethirtyeight's Nate Silver's recent post on the lizard-y tongue flick.

http://www.fivethirtyeight.com/2008/09/tongue-jut.html

"I got caught (taking candy from a drawer), gleeful excitement (look at what I just did, Mom), I got away with something (and I didn’t get caught), I did something foolish, or I am naughty."

Somehow I doubt this is "gleeful excitement".

Sorry, that was Sean Quinn, not Nate Silver at 538...

Just to correct my previous post.
