I live in the north shore of MA. Growing up here in the 80's, I never saw hawks. Ever. Left here in 1990 and returned in 2002 and the difference is absolutely amazing. I see at _least_ 3-4 raptors flying over the highway ever day now and there are several bald eagles nesting nearby along the Merrimack river.
I thank the ban on DDT every time I see em.
Bet it burns nice.
Guess Obama has learned the most important lesson a black man in America can learn: Don't cross a White Woman or expect a lynchin'. They'll get ya however they can.
I mean really. Get in line. The order of succession is White Man, White Woman, Black Man, Black Woman. And don't think you get ahead by playing by the rules - they'll be changed as soon as you near your goal.
"I've seen previous versions of GTA (but not the current one)-- enough to know that it will appeal more to high school boys than anyone else (socially inept, malleable high school boys, I might add), and everyone knows that 'Mature' rated games commonly end up in the hands of younger kids."
Bullshit. The average gamer these days is a 33 year old male. Do you think GTAIV will appeal more to the "socially inept, malleable high school boys" than to the "average gamer"? Also, I love the fact that the poster implies that this mainstream, hugely popular game would only appeal to "socially inept" kids. Seems to me, if the poster is correct that kids will be playing it, even the "popular" kids will be playing it.
Fact is, some people have an archaic view of computer/video games. The attitude that these games are for teenaged social misfits is more appropriate to the 1970s. Here in the 21st century games have become mass entertainment for a wide range of ages, elitist definers of "art" notwhithstanding.
... someone start pontificating about who can win where in the general election right now, I need to check to see if their voice is louder from under the table, cause they ain't talking out of their mouth.
Split them 50-50, seat them and stfu. Period.
I tried watching that but the acting embarrassed _me_.
"If Hillary does now win I am voting republican."
This demonstrates that you are only interested in personality. If you agree with Hillary, you agree with Barak. The fact that you won't vote for him only tells me you are voting based on the shallowest political thought possible and are willing to spitefully vote against your own interests because of a personal issue.
Personally I'd have held my nose and voted for Clinton, no matter how distasteful it was to me, because I CARE ABOUT ISSUES.
Her health plan would have simply doomed her in a general election. Her health plan contains individual mandates. This would be poison in a general election. The nation as a whole is not Massachusetts and once people realize what an individual mandate is they would flush Clinton's campaign down the tubes. Conservatives would have a field day.
Luckily it is moot.
Useless information.
If you say you'll vote for McCain over Obama YOU ARE NOT A DEMOCRAT. PERIOD. You do not care about democratic issues. Personally I say GOOD RIDDANCE. The party does not need you deciding their future. Don't let the door hit you on the ass on the way out.
I am not necessarily disagreeing with your main point but I have to take exception to this:
"In fact, she is more courageous than either in terms of policy (her health care plan is far better than either Obama or McCain's)"
First off, she was not courageous enough to vote against the war. That was the first strike against her in my (and many other minds). I'd forgive it, even, if she owned up to it, but alas she never, ever, did.
Secondly, I live in Massachusetts. I know the meaning of "individual mandate". This is yet another way to guarantee profits for health insurers, this time with the threat of tax penalties to back it up. The experiment here in MA is still ongoing and is turning out to cost far more than was advertised. I have seen several self-employed friends move over the border in the last year and being forced to buy health insurance or face penalties is the main reason. Fact is, few know that the deal is, and once the general public gets wind of what an "Individual Mandate" is, the whole idea will be sunk by popular demand.
Neither FL or MI will or should count. Any election that precluded campaigning (FL) or only had one candidate on the ballot (MI) is frigging INVALID. She can count whatever she wants but it only counts in her own mind.
You... are... making... me... sleepy....
We get it. You are a troll.
I remember this idea being considered. Gosh it'd be nice.
Gah. Salon has been invaded! These forums are tainted by paid posters! Check out the posting history of all these Obama bashers - most of these accounts were created specifically to bash Obama.
Sad. I've been reading Salon for ten years now and I am really now beginning to wonder about its future.
Met him once at a friend's wedding. Super nice dude. Very sad to hear of his passing.
Am I the only one who sees what an overhyped feature this is? Maybe OK for tablet notebooks, but who the heck wants to spend hours in front of their machine with their fingers on the fingerprint-smeared screen? My shoulders ache just thinking about it. Flicking pictures is entertaining for about the first five flicks, then I want a list to click on.
Oh yeah, its all fun and games before the robots come!
