I think Sherri was not talking so much about her lack of self-esteem and the abortions and tying the two together. I think she meant that her lack of self-esteem got her into situations where she was making poor choices about men and relationships. Women who feel good about themselves don't get into abusive relationships.
I saw the Hardball show last night and I definitely agree with you re: the firefighter situation and you held your own against the two loudmouths who tried to talk over you--especially Pat Buchannan. I was stunned when he said "who cares about the dog food". Until these mind sets are broken, there will be no change unfortunately. I usually find Chris Matthews to be enlightened but I guess the Irish connection is super strong.
