[Read more letters about this article: Here]The insult isn't being lumped into a catagory...political parties do that all the time. But to be told you don't matter...THAT is an insult.
You think no columnist hasn't willfully (and obnoxiously) said that, say, the opinions of urban professional women do not matter? Not even three years ago anyone in a throughly liberal congressional district was told openly by Republicans that not only did their party not require our opinion, neither did our country! We were declared irrelevant, consigned to the historical dustbin, a vestigial organ of 60s Hedonism that the country had finally shrugged off in favor of a return to Values and Patriotism (read: chastity and keeping your mouth shut).
If this is the most insulting thing anyone has said about your demographic in print all year, then you have lived a very innocent and well-protected life. Nobody's called you a traitor this week.
Besides, I agree this article is pretty vapid and sloppy. But its really no worse than the clusters of "Is Obama *really* Black Enough for Black People" and "Do Women Hate Hilary Clinton Because they are Jealous of Her" shit that the media spouts any given election year.
As for the democrat white males...perhaps they need to wake up and smell the coffee. If THIS is what the Democratic Party thinks of you, perhaps you'd be better off voting Republican. At least they WANT your votes and want to HEAR what you have to say.
Heh! If anything the article is saying the exact opposite. The Democrats are OBSESSED with wooing white men, and maybe that's not worth their time.
Besides all white men are not NASCAR dads, which is the demographic that the article is really talking about.

[Read more letters about this article: Here]Point is, the party claims to no longer need white male voters and it is wasting it's time trying. So white male voters are irrelevant. However, at least you can take heart that as a Democratic female, your voice will still be heard and your opinions count with the party.
No, the point is that the Democratic Party claims nothing of the kind! If anything, the Dems pander like crazy to get back white male voters of a certain socio-economic bracket that won't vote for a "girlie man" Democrat anyway. Which if you think means they are listening to the likes of me, you're wrong! Because they take me for granted, the way Repubs take Evangelicals for granted.
If anything they wring their wee hands and worry that the anti-war folks and the feminists and the socialized medicine and legalized marijuana advocates in their ranks will turn off the likes of you!
But why actually *read* the article when you can get your Oppressed Outrage on ...

This is particularly hilarious ... and telling ... comparison because in the film Miranda Priestly has children and expects her childfree assistants to do childcare related work like track down hard to find Harry Potter manuscripts ...
It's such a stubborn archetype that childfree=selfish that facts have nothing to do with it ...

And even if your were, you've proved the point that matriarchal cultures NO LONGER exist because it's best that men rule and women pro-create and nurture.
Well of course its best ... for MEN ... to have 51% of the human race take on all the domestic work, procreating, nurturing, while remaining economic dependents ... After all that means less is required of you guys isn't it? Under that system we have to marry you for our economic survival ... so there is no need to actually earn a woman's trust or good opinion to have a bedmate and maid and mother for your children!
And it makes for less competition in the workplace too. In fact, the qualified workforce is cut in half. So less pressure for jobs, less pressure at home, less pressure from the women in your lives. Yeah, no wonder you want the 1950s to come back (or the 1870s or the 1750s, your mileage may vary ...)
You know, similar arguments about "nature" were made to defend slavery as a system before the Civil War ... blacks were just inferior, needed taking care of, were naturally more suited to work in the fields, etc, etc, etc. And I'm sure it was personally and psychologically devastating for the Southern planter class to lose the benefit of their free labor. It was certainly a major economic shock.
So if you guys feel like the world is turned upside down by social changes put in motion by feminism ... well I guess that's understandable. Your generation is going through this terrific adjustment. You are losing your historical privileges. It must be scary. Like an identity loss. You don't know what it means to be a man anymore.
But you can be on the side of justice and history and make something of this changed world, or you can sit on your hands and complain about how the world has changed. That part is up to you.
