The group is a bunch of lefties called the "Council of Canadians", and they have been fighting the SPP for some months now. Apparently y'all just haven't been listening to your fellow lefties in other countries.

Screw Corsi, we know you hate him for what he did to your boy, Al, but at least listen to other lefties against the SPP for God's sake!

They aren't getting their panties in a twist like y'all because some conservative like Corsi is also against it.

They have the intelligence to investigate it on its own merits and come to the same conclusion as Corsi.

Use your brains (if you have any left after all that dope-smoking) educate yourselves and fight the SPP.

Y'all have to be careful with Alex Koppelman, the author of this article. He's a nice kid, about 30 I understand, but a bit knee-jerk in his response. He tends to get mentally "stuck".

Like with this Jerome Corsi thing. Corsi is a bad guy, so lets spend half our book review interview talking about swift boats and Al Gore.

By the time Alex is done, you know nothing about the SPP other than Corsi (an anti-leftist-swift-boat-Gore-hater) is against it. Well, golly, SPP must be good!

He did the same sort of knee-jerk drive-by to VDARE.com in a Huffington Post article last year: in essence: "VDARE.com is evil because they flog books that say African IQ's are quite low".

No analysis. He doesn't even check with the UN to see whether VDARE is right.

Africa needs help, clearly. But when the Alex's of the world refuse to even look at social problems and national development problems because of the magic words "IQ", he does the adult thinking public a disservice.

Mind you, I don't sense any serious malevolence from Alex, just an unwillingness to scratch below the surface, to go beyond leftie jargon and catchphrases in his analysis. Hopefully as he grows up and matures he will become a bit more diligent and curious.

By some estimates 90+ percent of Somali and other North African girls are chopped. Their moms know it makes them much more desirable as marriage partners when they are trying to arrange a good match.

Oh, there are some social worker/feminist types that are a bit squeamish, but the alternatives (foster care, prison for child abuse) are so awful to consider that they hope some gentle education of the Somali women will work rather than reporting the moms when they catch them.

Who want to be the first cultural-imperialist judge throwing a non-white immigrant in jail for following his/her native non-white traditions. After all, they have been practicing these traditions longer than the USA has even existed!

As part of the education efforts there has been a parallel white consciousness-raising effort directed at whites to lessen the cultural revulsion (hate?) we feel at the practice. There has been at least one thoughtful, sensitive article in the Twin Cities papers about the professional African mutilators and how they are trying to chop girls more cleanly.

Who knows? Maybe it WILL work ... over time.

But if it doesn't and FGM continues we can always look at it in a more positive light: we now have an even richer multi-culturalism than we ever imagined! We just have to think a little more broadly: is it really "multi-culturalism" and "diversity" if we only tolerate the things we like (food, cute clothes, native dances) and we refuse to tolerate the things we don't like (FGM, honor killings, wife-beating, forced marriages, polygamy). Of course not!
