  • Are we really ready for a "new face" ??

[Read the article: A new face for American diplomacy]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

This article makes a great deal of sense to me, but are we ready for such a change or will we ultimately allow fear mongering, racism and ignorance of how much of the world perceives us to influence our choices come November? Only time will tell.

  • How soon can he enlist??

Ah, yes the delightful romance of war. Well, if George is so enamoured with the dangers and violence of war, then by all means let him have a go at it. He can take Dick Cheney and all his other corrupt cronies along with them. Who knows, they might even be lucky enough to be captured by the enemy and guess what? Time for a little waterboarding or perhaps some other diabolical form of "interrogation" approved by George himself. Yes, Mr. President, believe it or not, the military is so desperate these days due to the fact that you've done all that you possibly can to destroy it as well as everything else that you've touched, that they might even take you and your criminal pals. So, you could just get to enjoy some of this "romance" after all.

  • Knee-jerk Patriots and Scoundrels

[Read the article: Rev. Jeremiah Wright isn't the problem]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

As for all of those so-called patriots who think that wearing a flag on one's lapel or belting out the national anthem at a ball game or believing that everything our government does is sacred, and that those of us who disagree or dissent should be accused of high treason, I offer a quote from Dr. Samuel Johnson, a wise gentleman if there ever was one. Speaking of knee-jerk patriots he said, " Patriotism is the last refuge of a scoundrel." Apparently, from the sorry state of affairs, the scoundrels have been in charge for far too long. Down with knee-jerk patriots and up with Barack Obama, a genuine American patriot whose brilliance and integrity are a rarity in today's political scene !

  • Liar, liar .....

[Read the article: Clinton: Wright "would not have been my pastor"]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Dear Hillary: No one cares who you would have chosen for a pastor. It's evident that in your desparation to secure the nomination that your comments are becoming increasingly asinine and irrelevant with each passing day. Furthermore, your behavior is very unbecoming for a former First Lady. I cannot imagine Jackie or Eleanor or Rosalind stooping to such nonsense. And what's even worse, you are destroying the Democratic Party's chances for the presidency as well. Really, you are, and in case no one has told you, John McCain's poll numbers are rising as you continue in this idiotic loosing battle for the nomination.

  • "Oh mischief, thou art swift to enter into the thoughts of desparate men (and women)" William Shakespeare

[Read the article: Hillary's team crosses the line]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

As the campaign for the Democratic nominee drones on and on, HRC and her team of loyalists appear increasingly desparate. Who knows what their next tactic might be as there is nothing the Clintons, in their lust for power, will not utilize. Both Hillary and Bill are old pros when it comes to getting down and dirty, and to their way of thinking, this is what the political process is all about. The ends do certainly justify the means in their warped view of things and so it's to hell with ethics and the high road. Bill didn't get to the oval office from the back woods of Arkansas by being a role model for ethical behavior and morality, and Hillary was more than willing to become his most brilliant student. For much of her adult life she has been in a "fight" mode. Remember the "right-wing conspiracy" and her failed health care plan?? Well here we are again. Only this time, she is using the same rightwing nutcakes who tried to destroy her and her husband for her own political advancement or destruction whatever the case may be. Indeed, from everything that has happened in her campaign, for Hillary it has now come down to a win at any cost battle, even if she and Bill destroy their own party's chance at taking back the White House in November. For sure, they have crossed the line and I suspect they will continue to do so until it's all over and John McCain is sitting in the oval office a la Dr. Strangelove, dreaming about turning Iran into a parking lot. Then we will all feel the full impact of what the Clinton desparados and their surrogates have done. Whoever it was that said John McCain is Bush on Steroids might not be too far from the mark. And if this happens, we will once again have Bill and Hillary Clinton to thank.

  • John Yoo, War Criminal

[Read the article: John Yoo's war crimes]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Thanks for a terrific article ! I have been wondering about John Yoo ever since he first appeared on PBS's "The News Hour".

My initial impression of this man was that he was out to make a name for himself and the easiest way in the current politcal climate was to support the administration's criminality by attempting to use whatever tools he had at his disposal. He spoke with no emotion whatsoever about interrogating the enemy etc. I too, am utterly dismayed that he is teaching young law students at Berkeley. It is obvious that under the Bush administration torture and other criminal activities are the new norm, thus allowing someone like Yoo to be a spokesperson and advocate.
