@Sesander

If the Democrats don't want to listen to the voters

Ummm.... one would think that by nominating the candidate with the most votes, the most delegates, the most states and the most super delegates, they were in fact "listening to the voters."

Hillary supporters are suggesting that the party do the exact opposite and ignore the candidate who is going to win by every metric and pick the one that THEY like better because they claim (all evidence to the contrary) she is more electable.

It is bad enough that the Hillary concern trolls here keep insisting that Obama can't win despite the fact that he has shown that he is more popular than HRC. Is it too much to ask to apply basic logic to your arguments and stop projecting your own undemocratic impulses on to Obama?

Please Sesander, explain to me how going with the person who got fewer votes, delegates, states is more democratic than going with the person who got more?

non-citizen donating to HRC?

Indigo says she can't vote for Hillary because she's not a citizen, but that she gave money.

Is that legal? Don't you affirm that you are a US citizen when you donate?

I'd be careful confessing to a felony in public....

I HEART Hank

As a Yankees' fan, I just love Hank. He is all kinds of crazy. Bat shit crazy. Crazier than a shithouse rat.

The biggest problem as far as I see it is that he doesn't blog. I hope his underlings are strategically mentioning how fascinating Mark Cuban's blog is in his earshot. C'mon it would be great to get a daily dose of his off the wall rants.

The Yankees are not doing much this year because they are probably too old. but the picthers are coming along and maybe with a few retirements and millions of free agent cash they can be back to form next year. In the meantime, keep it coming Hank. It reminds me of my youth when it was easy to hate the owner of my favorite team.

Chamberlain

Seconding Gilroy, the preponderance of historical evidence supports the thesis that Chamberlain has been unfairly maligned. After Munich (in which a small chunk -- not half -- of Czechoslovakia) Chamberlain put Britain and its military on a war footing to prepare for the inevitable war.

Furthermore, the narrative of Chamberlain as appeaser was promulgated first and foremost by a political screed published in 1940 called "Guilty Men" which was intended to force him out of office (although by the time it actually appeared, he had already left the premiership). This is not a work of scholarship, but a polemic, and its premises have been largely superseded by more nuanced understandings of the 1930s.

Pessimistic or Prudent?

I understand that there is pressure to maximize earnings and squeeze every possible dime out of the system, but isn't there also something to be said for prudence.

He's now set for life. He lives in Milwaukee where literally for the price of a one-bedroom in a so-so neighborhood in Manhattan, he could buy a 5 bedroom 5000 sq ft mansion. How much money does he need? Maybe he's not the guy who needs to buy the Bentley and 5 ct diamond earrings. Maybe his living expenses will be covered with $125,000 / year and he can invest the rest?

In exchange, he gets a home in a community which will undoubtedly worship him. He has conceivably given his franchise a solid base and some room to bring in and keep other stars around him.

Maybe he could have gotten all that without giving away free agency years, but maybe not. Either way, I'd take Braun over that cry baby Princess Fielder any day.

O/T: Jinxing a No Hitter

Just FYI for the group: you cannot successfully jinx a no-hitter by text message

Last night in the 6th, I saw that Jon Lester had a no-hitter going, and I wanted to call to jinx it but it was already 9 o'clock and I didn't want to wake up the children of my avid-demented-RSN friends. So I texted. Apparently the Baseball Gods are not up to speed on the modern technology.

That is the last time. Next time, screw the kids. I'm calling.

Can't find Iran on a map?

Well, we know why! Ask Miss South Carolina Teen USA:

"I personally believe that U.S. Americans are unable to do so because, uh, some, people out there in our nation don't have maps and, uh, I believe that our, uh, education like such as, uh, South Africa and, uh, the Iraq, everywhere like such as, and, I believe that they should, our education over here in the U.S. should help the U.S., uh, or, uh, should help South Africa and should help the Iraq and the Asian countries, so we will be able to build up our future, for our children"

Unfortunately THAT is your average American, John. I forgive them. Public education has been bled to death by Republicans who know if you keep an entire population stupid, you can get them to believe anything.

I can't forgive those seeking the highest office in the world.

Unity, folks

I don't believe these polls for a second. The last week or two, Senator Clinton has really changed tack, she's campaigning actively but not negatively and when push comes to shove, she will do the right thing for the country and the party.

Of course she is going to say that she believes she can win it (she has to say that) and that she thinks that she is stronger against McCain (she also has to say that and unlike the first point, she probably sincerely believes this). That's fine.

If the good Senator keeps hammering issues which separate Dems from Repubs, then she should stay in it until the convention if that is her desire. She will do nothing but help the party.
