I thought your comment was perfect for BOTH threads :)
Obviously, voters solidly in the Obama camp are apt to love this ad. I understand the concerns expressed about actually having to be able to read to "get it." Personally, I don't expect a lot of the undecided so-called low-information voters to come flooding Obama's way. But I can see this ad having appeal to savvy (literate ;) Independents; disgruntled, economically-conservative Republicans; women who consider the choice of Palin an insult, given the many intelligent and competent women who could have been selected instead.
I'm sure Hillary is sooooooo (NOT} happy to have such a racist ass as you on her side.
I'm only surprised there aren't more such reports in the wake of your hateful, divisive, fear-mongering campaign.
Anybody who married and procreated with Sarah Palin is not "hot" to me.
First want to say--I'm a major fan of your posts on this site.
You ask: "Tucker??? No, seriously. Who is Tucker Bounds, and why should I care what his opinion is? He sounds pretty lame, if that quote is the best he can do."
Short answer: He is paid to defend Mac/SP and is all over the MSM (talk shows in particular) doing so. And yes, he is lame. Pity the fool. What else CAN he say at this point?
Just writing to thank you for your thoughtful posts tonight. I'm excerpting some of your words below that especially resonated with me. If my really small donations here and there over the last many months contributed to tonight, I say money well spent!
"Barack spent a "sh*t"-load of money on this programming. The support of America was behind that expense.
This was done with the money of people who believe in the direction he wishes to take our nation. I repeat, OUR nation. I cannot stress this enough. Not mine, not yours...the nation we all believe in. The nation we know we are; the nation we know we can be. The nation the world wants us to be."
I noticed what you noticed about the not-exactly-smooth segue from the touching and pertinent story featuring the elderly couple into energy policy, vs. something about healthcare policy in-between. That story (and others) got to me big time. My husband made this point as well: "He [the retired 72-year-old] is working at Wal-Mart. Won't get the health benefits they need there."
In any case, I, too, enjoyed the 30 minutes of my life spent watching hope in action.

DeLay is despicable. I've had a few medical procedures that weren't pleasant, but I'd go through any of them all over again versus having to follow DeLay on national air time.
Obama for 30 minutes? I could have gone for 60 or 90 or more--easily.
Your take on the FL showing of "Bubba & Barry"--spot on. Kudos to both. And yes, Bill was off the chair laughing at points! IMO, much reciprocity in healing and advancing the party.
I started a post here early on, but I'm late now...spent two hours (!) on the phone with a dear friend trying to convince her into opting for self-worth over going for a guy who doesn't appreciate how wonderful she is (flawed and all, like all of us)...so anyway, I have to go now to my DVR recording of Jon Stewart w/ Obama.
Great article, Joan. (May I call you "Joan"?)
TOO funny! My first reaction was OMG, somebody has to tell this person what DAY to vote!!! Then I kept reading, grin getting bigger and bigger right up till the last sentence, when you *punched* it. Thanks for the laugh :)
Hey, that's not a bad thing to be! Lucky you!
I'd be rooting for the Steelers anyway, but NOW my rah-rah is really ratcheted up!
she'd get her kids back in school because otherwise they're going to grow up as stupid as their mommy is.
But, had to say, Mr. O'Hehir, I do NOT agree with your decision to leave "Rosemary's Baby" off the list. Besides the satanic cult (and fabulous acting), what isn't terrifying about everybody thinking you're crazy and you can't prove you're not?!? (Maybe this hits too close to home for me heehee.)
And "The Omen" vs. "The Exorcist"? The former scared the bejesus out of me. The latter, well, I literally laughed when I saw it the first time--"fakey" I termed it--in the theatre, new release, with people regurgitating into popcorn buckets around me.
I've gone through the posts rather quickly, but wow, some truly excellent suggestions/additions. Too many to comment on, but from the B flicks, to the rarely seen, to the ones not often considered in the genre (e.g., "Hush, Hush Sweet Charlotte" and "Wait Until Dark"), what a great mix.
I do go more for what an earlier poster described (in more depth and far better than I, lazily, am about to do) as "psychological" horror--i.e., that it COULD happen to you.
Then again, "The Reanimator" is a cult classic for the blood-and-camp consideration. Or maybe I'm biased because I used to date one of the writers of that film ;) (He told me he didn't "write in" nearly as much blood as director Gordon pumped in. Erudite, subtle wit with tribute to Lovecraft--"giving head" anyone...?)
