You're promoting sexism, not fighting it.
Your vote, vs. a whole lot of other people's lives (including, hey, WOMEN) to be affected badly. I am wasting time and energy even posting this but here goes: I sure do wish you'd listen to Hillary. But you won't. Peace be with you.
Wow. An intelligent, reasoned and reasonable post. Kudos and thank you.
"Perhaps Hillary was asked by Obama but turned him down. We may never know and we should stop guessing whether Obama did the right thing or not. I agree that Hillary wields more power in the Senate than in the second seated positon of VP.
For better or worse, the Democratic ticket is Obama/Biden. What we have to do now is stick together and ensure they take the White House. Debbie Wasserman knows that, Hillary knows that and most of us Democrats know that. I believe white woman that would vote for McCain are probably those that would not vote for a black man and in that case, I wouldn't consider them Democrats. Apparently, Obama must be a very smart cookie to come from nowhere as a black man and take the race from the most powerful woman in Washington. If McCain wins, God forbid, then it won't be because Obama is black or because Hillary is not the VP candidate.
There are 11 million more registered Democrats than Republicans in the U.S. If all Democrats get out and vote on November 4th, I believe Obama will win 'very handily'. Let's truly make 'America First', not buy into the phony campaign of McCain, which is in actuality 'Me First'."
"It turns out Senator McCain cannot type emails because he cannot type, not because he lacks secretarial skills but because of the consequences of his war injuries."
If I thought for one nano-second that was true, I would not laugh and scoff. But it's just not true! Ever hear of "hunt and peck"? That's typing one letter or symbol at a time. Many people do it. McCain obviously has use of his hands and control of his fingers. He could do it. Yes he could!
I talked to many friends on Thursday who shared that 9/11 experience with me seven years ago.
I can tell you this much: the thought of Palin at the helm is reprehensible. Am I a tad big angry right now? Uh, YES.
I'm disappointed that this article's thread of comments disintegrated into a feeding of the trolls.
Excuse me for living, but to me, 9/11 really means something.
"Lamb: The Gospel According to Biff, Christ's Childhood Pal" by Christopher Moore
Keep those trollies trolling! Rawhide!
I'm changing the subject (or perhaps going back on topic) to say thank you, Ms. Traister. This is my favorite coverage of the campaign thus far. I laughed! And I didn't cry! And I sent it on to many others so they could share the experience.
I've got lots of Obama bumper stickers from donations I've made. But I'm crediting this idea for a new one to my dearest smartest feistiest friend (lives in Manhattan and works in downtown Manhattan, near ground zero, and coulda shoulda woulda written a great article about what a political time-share was happening there on 9/11...even the Amish were there for their cause!...and my feisty friend could take Palin down in a NY minute).
Anyway, after an energizing talk with my pal, my new campaign mantra and bumper sticker verbiage is:
"He better f***ing win!"
"I'm starting to feel sorry for Pallin now. She is no dummy, she just has no national experience. Nothing a term or two in the Senate can't fix. But if McCain crashes and burns, she may not get a second shot at the White House. By selecting a candidate before she is ready, McCain may have not only ruined his own chances but also permanently damaged Palin's."
She just has no national experience??? She's not ready??? And we're all supposed to pony up to this "selection"...UH? WHY?
No sympathy from me. Not one iota.
I am pleased to say that there have been many good comments on this site tonight, and I shouldn't use up thread space to give congrats to each. But to you--I had to give a "shout out." Seriously great posts.
"Sure, Palin will not be confused with Metternich tonight. But how could one expect otherwise, when she had no experience (until two weeks ago) on foreign policy?"
And that fact of no experience on foreign policy doesn't bother you or your undecided spouse???
"I am less sure I care two wits about Georgia and Ukraine, but Palin's answer on Israel was undistilled common sense."
Not caring about a possible war with Russia is one thing, but please, when it came to the Israel discussion...No, it was one pat answer about Israel on Palin's part--repeated FOUR times, a la rote memorization and preparation---despite what actual question she was being asked.
That was one of my favorite parts. Another was when Gibson had to explain to her what the "Bush Doctrine" is.
MasterCard? No, priceless.
