@aka smith

I don't judge on sound bites, I much prefer "in context," and "complete exchange"...was just saying that the MSM (and therefore much of the public) does judge thusly.

"You should be ashamed of yourself."

No. NO. Why? I already told you I read what you posted. I also had already seen/heard much of what you posted. Confronting you point by point has, on salon.com, proven pointless.

"Nothing can correct your moral failings unless you are willing to acknowledge the truth. Instead, you want to make cause with deception. I am surprised you have any self respect."

You know NOTHING about me. Moral failings?@? The Truth? What? Is that YOUR truth? Self-respect? Got some.

Why is it ME that you're attacking?

@aka smith

"Do you Obama people really imagine that you can go on attacking Hillary at your pleasure and still persuade her supporters to vote for your guy?"

I will now say for the umpteenth time on this site: I am NOT a Hillary hater.

I will also say that it is insulting for someone who chose to vote for Obama to be called one of those "Obama people."

book recommendation

"Lamb: The Gospel According to Biff, Christ's Childhood Pal" by Christopher Moore.

Not for the religously squeamish, but irreverant and reverant at the same time.

Your post re: "people of faith" really made me think. At first, I disagreed with you. But then I re-read (twice) what you had to say and I really got it. So, thank you. I learned something because of you. I don't know that you'll get your wish of the term being abandoned, but I do understand your point.

@gideonstorch

Your post was so sincere. Obviously I can't (and shouldn't try to) sway you one way or the other, vote-wise, but your heart sure seems to be in the right place. I can say that, for me, I believe Jesus is one of the best teachers ever, and I don't see a lot of Jesus's teachings in the *actions* of the neocon right and evangelicals. Actually, I'm a spiritual wanderer in a way. I was raised a Catholic and in later years studied many religions. I want peace and much attention paid to poverty and good education and good health care etc. etc. etc. Though I have many wonderful family members who are total Republican, I just can't agree with them. And McCain's "performance" at Saddleback certainly didn't change my opinion. "Bomb, bomb, bomb...bomb bomb Iran"...I'm tired of war.

Debunking?

Or reguritating?

Tuesday, August 19, 2008 06:48 PM

ignorance or stupidity?

At the point my husband and I introduced a friend of ours to Snopes.com because she was spreading such malicious, untrue emails, she said something to the effect that she "stood corrected." Then, we were no longer included on her mailing list for that sort of stuff. But we would bet our lifetime salaries that she's continuing to forward lies and prejudice to many others. And so are members of my family, whom I love, and that's very disturbing to me.

@Kate--ClintonCanDoNoWrong--Tex

You crowed:

"Ha!

Smears are never attractive, but it's hard to work up much sympathy for the Obamas, given their recent thorough trashing of the Clintons accomplished through innuendo, memo, falsehood, omission, and sneer. As they say - what goes around, comes around. Guess it's Mr. & Mrs. O's turn now, huh?"

Regardless of which side of the Democratic party (or other party)you're on, why whould you take such GLEE and PLEASURE at such unmerited smear tactics of any candidate?

@klytus

I *knew* better than to respond to the busy redneck bee, but I did anyway! What's wrong with me?!? (please, nobody answer that hee hee). At least it's better than responding to the "ignore list" where I've been maligned repeatedly, everything from my political self to my feminist self to my brain and to my moral failings.

Wow. You told me once to grow a thicker skin. I don't take it so much personally as I do.......WAAAAAAAAAAHthef***?

@Lori@W87

With McCain, we wouldn't even have to "expose and twist and lie." Just telling the truth should be sufficient. But who wants to hear that?@?

@Xrandadu and Paul in KY

Xrandadu, you are in top shape today!

Paul in KY already took my line on your line re: "Soylent Whitey." Coffee was nearly expelled from both me and my husband when I read him that line.

Also, same reaction to: "You don't have to read the entirety of "War and Peace" to know it isn't about killer clowns."

I have no idea why I'm up so early (not a morning person), but you sure have started my day off right. Or should I say...left?

Thanks.

@AKA Smith

I'm catching up on postings, but had to say your response to gezelligtexas (a few pages back) was right on target.

@AKA Smith and gezelligtexas

And I've just learned a lesson about doing all the catch-up on the threads before writing!

Best to both of you.
