  • Republicans creating Democrats

[Read the article: A new low for Giuliani]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

The more Republicans say that Democrats want to end the war, the more an individual is likely to realize that he or she is by this definition, a Democrat. Repubicans are creating more Democrats.

  • Bashing Elizabeth

[Read the article: Bashing Elizabeth Edwards]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Ann Coulter is a terrorist. She wants leaders assassinated among other desires.

  • HowDoes Rudy Explain Rice's Comment?

[Read the article: Rudy can fail]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Condi Rice told us that the warning Bin laden Determined To Strike at US was history. How does Rudy explain that the Bush adminstration was deliberately ignorant?

  • Kaarl Rove

[Read the article: Gloria Borger & the media's reverence for Karl Rove]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Few people are able to poiut the hypocrisy of a "liberal media" better than Glenn. Facts do not bother the corporate pundit media.

  • Blame Bush if America Has Another 9-11

[Read the article: Breaking the Iraq stalemate]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

It needs to be said and repeated often, If we are attacked again as we were on 9-11 it is because Bush diverted resources that could have been used to protect the homeland.

  • Can Someone tell Me

[Read the article: When winning is still losing]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Why the Democrats don't add a provision to the funding of the trooops bill that would require a tax on the wealthiest Americans so they could sacrifice a little for the country?

  • Thanks for Keeping Me Informed

[Read the article: Dianne Feinstein, symbol of the worthless Beltway Democrat]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

For those of us who try to follow national events, it is good to hear analysis of those who we only know by their popular reputation. Little did I know of Feinstein other than she is a liberal. Thanks for letting me know differently.

  • Playing Poker for Money is Not necessarily Gambling

[Read the article: Obama's future? It's in the cards!]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

It is only gambling when the house takes part of the purse.

  • Where Were Bush's National Guard Buddies?

[Read the article: Dan Rather stands by his story]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

For man known for being a party guy, why haven't we ever heard from men who served with him?

  • Supporters are Americans too.

[Read the article: Andrea Mitchell's strange attack against Clinton]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

I thought her comments strange too. I said to my wife, after Mitchell's statement that they were union workers and people who have a stake in her election, but aren't these Americans too?

  • Media Unwittingly Helped Clinton

[Read the article: The tracks of her tears]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

The media thought the "crying" would hurt Hillary and that is why they played it over and over. They were as wrong about that decision as their decision about the correctness of the polls.

  • She did good

[Read the article: More about race and the Democrats]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

She held her own against Russert. I still waver between her and Obama and have given to both campaigns, but the media negative coverage of her and her husband is frustrating. So, little discussion of any issues and especially those that haven't been covered and covered in previous debates.

  • Evangelicals' voting patterns

[Read the article: What do evangelicals want?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Could someone tell me why the major networks report on the evangelical vote in the Republican primaries and caucuses but do not tell us where the evangelical votes were in Democratic primaries and caucuses?

  • What's with super or nonsuperdelegates anyway?

[Read the article: A supersize controversy]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Why do we have to have representatives(delegates) vote for us? Why not direct election in the primaries? Delegates to a convention is as anachronistic as the electoral college.

  • Hagee is an idiot

[Read the article: Interview with Bill Donohue: Catholic League denounces McCain]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Thank god for Salon and Greenwald. The double standard of the media is appalling.

  • Apparently Worked?

[Read the article: It's 3 a.m. Who do you want answering the phone?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

What evidence, pray tell, is there that this "negative" ad worked? There are assumptions but no data. And whaat's with this "bloodletting" theme. You can be disagreeably disagreeable.

  • Democracy is Contentious

[Read the article: Let 'em duke it out]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Thank you for this article.Salon is doing more to help the democratic process than all of the pundits. We;ve had too many speeches, not from the candidates but from the "leadership" in Congress. I want criticism and disagreement; it's healthy.

  • Education is always failing teenagers

[Read the article: What's the matter with kids today?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

50 years ago two of the more alarming books were titled, " Why Johnny Can't Do Math" and "Why Johnny Can't Read". And if we go back another 50 years we find similar alarmist handwringing about the state of education.

  • But after the Initial Dumb decision?

[Read the article: McCain's Vietnam obsession]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

After we made serious miscalculations about Vnam, lack of all the things the Powell Doctrine(sic) states, can we salvage the resulting mess? And how do we do that? That is what McCain hasn't told us except it may take 100 years.

  • Wright shouldn't be quiet

[Read the article: Why Jeremiah Wright is so wrong]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

"God mend thine every flaw". Can we still sing that stanza? I still think we can criticize this country. For those stating that Wright should be quiet now for Obama's sake, you couldn't be more wrong. If he were to retreat and go quietly into the night, the Republicans would claim he was scared. John Kerry learned what happens when you try to ignore the lies.

  • A Problem ofr Obama?

[Read the article: What should Obama do about Rev. Jeremiah Wright?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Puleeze. If Rev. Wright remained quiet instead of "uppity" he would still be the poster child for Republicans bent on disunity. John Kerry learned that ignoring a charge doesn't work. Anyone remember the Swift Boat ads?

  • Thank you

[Read the article: Brian Williams nominates Peggy Noonan for a Pulitzer Prize]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

I gave up on national news around the time of the 2004 election. This from a retired social studies teacher and professor who once made it a requirement for his students to watch the evening news. The military story or the lack of it by the news "teams" is reinforcement of why I do not watch.

How about an analyst on the McCain-Clinton gas tax suspension? After the summer wouldn't restoring the tax be a tax increase as defined by McCain in his reasoning for supporting Bush's tax cuts?

  • Clinton's base

[Read the article: Poetry vs. fear]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

So, Obama hasn't won the Democratic voters that Clinton has. It doesn't mean they won't vote for Obama.Given the choice between two great candidates, you have to vote for one or the other. My wife, an ardent Clinton supporter, will vote for Obama if for no other reason than McCain's abortion stand. An issue that is losing its potentcy.

  • No news for me

[Read the article: The Politico's John Harris admits now what he denied last year]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

I read Salon, Mediamatters and The Nation, Progressive Populist, and online editions(opinion pages mostly) of NYT and WPm Jon Stewart and Keith Olberman. I also read Eric altaerman's book and Brook's book on McCain and other political books. Why would anyone listen to or read the mainstream media? Tim Russert? A joke, Stephanoupoulus? A tinsy bit better.

And I'm a retired history teacher who once subscribed to Look, Life, Saturday Evening Post, US News & WR, Newsweek, Time and WSJ.

  • Call It a Tax suspension

[Read the article: Going down with the Titanic?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Tell John McCain that the Bush "tax cut" was really a tax suspension like McCain's proposal for a gas tax suspension. McCain is opposed to tax increases but not tax suspensions. Bush's tax cuts are scheduled to end just as McCain's gas tax suspension is set to end.Viola! problem solved.

  • Land phones limitation

[Read the article: Can you hear me now? Obama's missing 2 percent]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

How many landphone people now have caller ID and can refuse to pick up the phone for numbers they don't recognize? I would guess more educated people? My own work in campaigns using the telephone has resulted in more leaving a message rather than talking directly with the person.
