susan sunflower, the Italians "missed"?
[Read the article: "Sopranos" wrap-up: Hide-and-seek]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Thanks for your posts! I had to watch the mistaken-ID shooting twice because I couldn't figure where they went wrong. They had the right address (that is, they were at the house they were told to go to, whether that was right or not), and the shooter was careful to say something like, "For Mr. Phil, Mr. Phil?" which was not argued by the Ukrainian, he just went ahead and signed for the package. Did he not hear him, or not understand him because of the thick accent? He didn't argue the name. So when it turned out to be wrong, I had to go back and watch it again, but I still didn't get it. They recheck the address, recheck the pic, call the man "Phil", and get the man to sign his name. So what happened?
There had to have been some kind of set-up involved. Perhaps someone set up the Ukrainian and his daughter to be in the right house and "play Phil"? Why else would he sign for a package that wasn't for him, or even anyone he knew, assuming he was really an innocent victim? And it did seem like the Italians really thought they had the right address, and lo and behold someone who looks just like Phil and someone who could easily be his goomar (sp?) just happened to be at the house? Could the Ukrainian have been a decoy in case someone tried to shoot Phil? Or could the Italians have been set up to miss, since there were so many layers of intervention (T tells Sil, who tells Paulie, who gives it someone else to set up...)? Within those layers are at least two people that have been considered suspect by the posters here. I don't know, I just thought it was weird that the Italians seemed to be really on top of their work, with multiple ways to doublecheck the ID of the victim (address, picture, name on package so the man IDs himself by signing it), and yet still missed. With David Chase, I suspect plot holes are actually rabbit holes...
Just wanted to throw in here that at the moment that Tony grabbed AJ's shirt lapel, he only beat me to it because of the damn TV screen! I wanted to slap that boy silly! While I have understood his depression and even felt for him through, say, last week, in this ep when T comes home to say, "They're coming for us, everyone hide! Danger, Will Robinson!" the only thing AJ can do is whimper in a puddle of nihilism. Here in central Texas, it would be like if a tornado were heading our way but my son wanted to whine about his angst instead of grabbing the damn cat and getting in the cellar already! For god's sake, son, our world is ending! Catch up! Carm, on the other hand, reminded me of my Aunt Patsy, the military wife, who periodically has her husband come home and announce the family is moving to Japan or Germany or he's going to Iraq. It sucks, she's scared, she keeps hoping this will end and he can retire, but she rises to the occasion instead of panicking. As for the photos, I thought it was a clunky way of telling us where she'll go. There were a few clunky signals like that. AJ watching the cartoon where the big box falls and everyone is lying around dead and bloody, I felt like, "All right, already, I get it, bloodbath. Just tell the story!" I would normally say the Sopranos were sublime in their imagery but this time seemed a bit clunkier, if they'll forgive me for saying so.

sorry for "flaming"
[Read the article: "Sopranos" wrap-up: Hide-and-seek]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]But I wanted Heather to hear us stand up for her. That was really rude, this is her job. It's one thing to flame each other for good or bad theories or liking the show too much or not enough, that is silly. But Heather works hard, and while hopefully does not need us to defend her, I wanted to anyway. I hope I made up for it with my real theory post.

Allow me to pile on
[Read the article: Marginalized]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]My dear, sweet cousin was teaching there when the shootings occurred. We are DAMN LUCKY we didn't lose him like so many others lost their loved ones. So when I saw the SMILES in this photo, I didn't think it was inappropriate,
I FELT LIKE I'D BEEN PUNCHED IN THE GUT.
I can only imagine what the other families must feel.
I'm sorry, I know many people have mentioned this, and yes, there is some part of my brain laughing at Gonzo in this pic, but I'm still trying to catch my breath.

Sounds like
[Read the article: What did Harry Reid really say?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]wise reporters now have to record everything to cover themselves.
