Original article: The one that got away

Big up the FSB!

Putin and his buddies must have the biggest laugh in private at Bush's expense. Putin, a former head of the FSB (Russia's CIA), knows more than a little bit about lying, counter intelligence, misdirection, and propaganda. The must get a giggle when dealing with Bush's and Rove's freshman attempts at the game. Our skills in this type of strategic diplomacy have diminished to the lowest level under this administration.

Original article: Libby loses bid for freedom

Or not

I just read a news flash on c-span that Bush has commuted Scooter's sentence.

Original article: A Snow job on Libby

Where are the Democrats?

This administration is only sinking itself. Where is the aggression on the part of the Democrats? The people are asking for strong and forceful leadership. How is it allowed that the Bush pardon of Libby generates this Washington Post headline: "Clintons Accused Of Hypocrisy by The White House." Why isn't any Democrat calling the White House, Tony Snow, the Washington Post to the mat on this? Where is the leadership?

Embedding of reporters?

What does anyone really know about American military operations outside the green zone? The official military sources could tell the press that we are fighting leprechauns in the areas surrounding Baghdad, and reporters would pretty much have to go along with it.

How does anyone cover this war with any kind of truth? Skepticism isn't enough to get at truth, it can only uncover a lie.

Original article: Cindy Sheehan's wrong turn

A right turn for democracy.

The Republicans controlled congress and the Senate and we were at war in Afghanistan and Iraq with no end, our government spied on us illegally, we tortured enemy combatants who had no rights.

The Democrats control Congress and the Senate and we are at war in Afghanistan and Iraq with no end, our government spies on us illegally, and we torture enemy combatants who have no rights.

This whole "we need to wait to get the votes" crap has to end. Put it all in front of the Republicans to veto or vote "no" and let them explain themselves to the American people. Some would caution against impeachment because it would rally the Republican's around the president. Perfect. Put them back in the camp with 29% approval ratings where they belong. Shovel the rats back onto the sinking ship. Let them go on record that they are taking a pass on impeachment. Then we can compare their record of impeachment against Clinton. Then we can hold them to account if they ever attempt to impeach in the future. Let's see where they stand, for the sake of voters in 2008.

Cindy Sheehan has done more for the cause of peace and democracy than anyone on the written pages of this web site. She is singuarly the tipping point of the Iraq war and of view of the administration by proxy. If anyone deserves to represent us in congress, it is she. She seems to be the only one who recognizes that the great OZ is just a little man hiding behind the curtain. Goodbye Joan Walsh and your fear based politics. Our nation needs new leadership. Someone who isn't afraid of pathetic little Karl Rove, little George Bush, and little Dick Cheney.

Original article: Vitter apologizes

How about some reporting on this?

Vitter frames his involvement as if it has already been addressed by all involved parties. Him, his wife, a marriage counselor, god...what about the pimp and the prostitute?

Let's not forget that Palfrey has been asking for men to come forward in her defense and this congressman chose to hide. Let us also assume that if he has been lying all along and has not come forward with the truth, then his story about telling his wife and a marriage counselor is also a lie. Who is to say he didn't just admit this yesterday and this is the first his wife has ever heard of this? There is also the matter of the prostitute herself. I think she deserves an apology from Vitter. In the end, isn't she the victim that is exploited in this situation? Doesn't she deserve consideration? Last I heard, prostitution, and the use of such services was against the law. Now that a congressman has admitted to breaking the law, shouldn't he be indicted or impeached?

scrap the position of Surgeon General

The surgeon general has no authority. He can only go on television as a representative of the administration's backward views on medical science, or as a rep of the medical industrial complex. In either stance, the "general" has no policy making authority. But it makes us all feel good that the nation has a doctor. We'll still die of obesity, smoking, AIDS, avian bird flu, influenza, anthrax poisoning, or the myriad of other subjects that come up in the speeches of these "generals." Maybe we should eliminate all the phony positions; drug czar, health czar, and now even war czar. They allow a face of the government to say one thing while doing something else entirely different. We need more truth in government, not less.

If the surgeon general were to get behind legislation that outlaws drug companies advertising directly to consumers, then the billions of dollars spent there will be spent lobbying doctors directly (which they already do.) The doctors will be even more in the pockets of the drug companies.

Except that it is oil

"It is such an uncomfortable reality -- that religious fervor drives our wars"

The above statement overlooks 60 years of global foreign policy decisions.

Oil and a military industrial congressional complex drives our wars. The people who invent global domination strategies like the project for a new American century are not projecting religious power.

Your post is confusing.

As confusing as the executive order. It could use an edit.

Original article: Feinstein for Clinton

The rest of us against.

Daniel: You are wrong. Nancy Pelosi is the speaker of the House.

Dianne Feinstein: You are also wrong.

"I'm honored to have her support as we work together to bring the war in Iraq to an end and deliver the change this country wants."

Clinton is part of the problem. She is more than willing to use the military industrial complex, without oversight, to further the imperialist foreign policy of the United States.
