Oh that is right, it is that tiny little sliver of land that produces stuff like maple syrups and little dried corn tchotchkas. When did all this bullshit start and why does Salon and the rest of the media perpetrate this? All of your articles covering these early primaries and caucuses should be exposing how undemocratic they are. Instead you stand on the sidelines and cheer on the horse race. My guess is salon's staff is mostly white, mostly upper middle class, mostly content to maintain the status quo in media. As poor a representation of its readership as New Hampshire is to the nation.
Thanks Salon. Thanks for supporting this subversion of representative democracy. Thanks for looking like every other media outlet today.
Your choices for president are:
Elitists, or elitist's pets.
Your cola beverage choices are:
Carbonated sugar water with cola flavoring.
Salon looks like every other corporate whore, push the bullshit horse race paradigm, don't question this obvious subversion of true democracy... media outlet. Change the masthead to Washington Post and leave the front page content the same, and you wouldn't be able to tell the difference today.
The white corn farmers of Iowa have spoken! Whatever. Why do we allow these hayseeds to determine anything in our democracy? No candidate can go on record that Iowa and New Hampshire should not have this influence in the process. Minorities should be vocal their lack of representation in the process.
Call them out. Pakistan won't mean spit in this election, unless of course the media makes it mean spit. If the media decides to terrorize the public with ideas of Al Qaida with nuclear weapons, then yes it could have an effect.
Film review is difficult. You usually come off as a self important douche bag. This review shows you at least have the occasional glimmer of talent. This review contained the proper weight of information and critique without giving away the whole plot. Good for you.
"Welcome to the Ramada Inn conference hall. If you'll direct your attention to the power point presentation on the large screen, we'll begin the presentation as soon as we get the microphone working. Here we are. As you can see by the first slide, my presentation is titled "Big Problems, Real Solutions." As you can see, I have a 10 point plan to address all the nation's problems. Next slide please..."
The analogy to Iran in 1978 is a good one. The administration and the media have consistantly tried to pin the instability in the region on "al Quida" and or Islamic extremism. Untrue. The instability comes from a revolutionary uprising of the people of Afghanistan and Pakistan. The "Taliban" are Talibs. Pashtuns. They comprise about a third of the population of Afghanistan. The border of Afghanistan and Pakistan means little to the people of both nations. Many are of the same tribe. The majority people of Pakistan want to oust the military dictatorship lead by Mushareff. Not some dirt farmers in the hills like the media would have us think. The students in the universities have had enough. By the time the media gets around to reporting the real truth of the conflicts in this region, it will be too late.
I did some experiments to determine the existence of god, the origins of man, and man's purpose if any. The results of my tests proved that unequivocally there is no god, man is a result of evolutionary flukes, and we live without purpose. Please have faith in my conclusions. My data is kept in a golden box and is guarded by a wonderful giant golden bird the size of 10 of our universes. You are welcome to peer review the data, but be careful. All who look upon the data turn to stone.
I do appreciate your insights John, I too am the product of Jesuit intellectualism.
Bush answered a tough question about Putin, then he got a screwy smirk on his face. He then singled out some guy in the press corps named John to ask the next question. John's question was very Jeff Gannon like and infused with Presidential praise. Bush didn't even listen to the first sentences of the question. It was like he knew ahead of time that a soft ball was coming his way. Strange... [the following is from the whitehouse.gov transcript of the press conference]
John.
Q Mr. President, a year ago when you had your year-end press conference, the Democrats had just taken control of Congress; they said that one of their main goals was to end the war in Iraq, they were talking a lot about very contentious times ahead. As you just said, the Congress has now passed again, without strings, money for the war, and you've achieved a lot of your goals and have gotten a lot of things you wanted from Congress, without a lot of give-and-take with them by talking tough with firm veto threats. What does this say about the Democratic leadership, the way they're running Congress and your relations with the leaders?
