  • They are corporations.

[Read the article: King Kaufman's Sports Daily]

Each NFL franchise is a corporation or a privately held entity(with the exception of Green Bay Packers). They have as much "loyalty" to fans/consumers as Costco or Walmart. Example: Art Modell takes his privately owned team, the Cleveland Browns, with millions of long term fans/consumers...and moves the team to Baltimore.

Unfortunately, Mr. Kaufman, you have dedicated your life to being a lackey for corporate mandated entertainment. What is the more interesting, is that you aren't even paid by the NFL to shill for their interests, yet you do.

I ask that commentators, fans/consumers, reviewers, side line pundits...all stop repeating the meme that this is some sort of fan driven enterprise. Please present these issues with more truth and clarity. The NFL's only objective is to make money for the franchisees. To bring more truth to the forefront, the National Football League is an illegal monopoly. This is a combine of corporate and private interests designed to price fix, and lock out competition. It is interesting that one America's top forms of entertainment doesn't adhere to the simplest rules of free markets, and no one...Mr. Kaufman...ever comments on this fact.

  • Racism through and through.

[Read the article: Biden: I was taken out of context]

This isn't a gaffe, misquote or "taken out of context." This is Joe Biden saying out loud what he is thinking. This is why all of America likes to get behind people like: Colin Powell, Tiger Woods, Michael Jordan and are terrified of people like Tupac Shakur, Bobby Seale, Calvin Broadus. If any of these punks in government really gave a shit about the "black community", there wouldn't even be a "black community." In a land in which all people are considered equal, having a "black community" makes as much sense as having a "blue eyed" community or a "blond community."

If anyone wants to know where we are at 30 years after the civil rights movement, just conjure up an image of a poor black family, floating adrift on a cooler, in the middle of the 9th ward in New Orleans. That desperate circumstance is as far as condescending pricks like Biden will bring anyone who is not: "articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking".

As far as the defenders of a democratic strategy to not consume our own...screw that. These people work for us. Give it to them, democrat or republican if they put out this kind of stuff. No one in government gets a pass!

  • Spam 101

[Read the article: I tried to get rich on stock spam]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Another reason spammers embed images in HTML email is that they can track if you have read the email. Basically it works like this: Spammer has your address...joe@website.com He sends you an HTML email with an image named joe_website.com.jpg referenced in the code. This image is created and named on the fly (dynamically on the server), when he sends you the email. When you open the email in your email client (your email program) the image (on the spammer's server) gets a hit. Now all he has to do is review his server logs and he can see that: ip address 555.555.0.5 hit the image joe_website.com.jpg at 7:30 pm on such and such a date. Now he knows: How many total people are reading the email. That your email address is "hot" (a live person at the other end) and even when you read the email. The majority of spam (about 75%) doesn't even actually have product at the other end (a lot of the viagra spam etc...) It is only sent out to collect hot email addresses, and then the hot email addresses are compiled onto large lists and sold to real spammers.

    What to do:

Turn off reading HTML email. Only read text based email.

Never reply to spam or click links in spam promising to be opted off the list.

Never click any link in a spam or even go to a url in spam even independently of the email.

Never post your protected email address on the internet. Don't use it to sign a guestbook or a blog entry. Don't put it openly on your web site. Spammers run harvesters to spider the web, gleaning any email addresses they can find.

Don't use your protected email address to sign up with anything on the internet, or even with trusted companies. Even large companies get their client lists stolen or often sold the third parties. When a company goes bankrupt guess what is sold as a company asset to anyone willing to pay? Your private information. You would be surprised at who the department of motor vehicles and even your bank is selling your information to. So create a separate email (hotmail, google) to give out to companies and web sites.
