  • Talk about paranoid delusions...

Salon and Camille will congratulate themselves on the number of posts in response to her diatribe. "Look at how many people are reading us", they'll cry! Of course, most of us are subscribers and our subscription is a sunk cost, so in a sense it's like the Disney channel congratulating itself that I occasionally surf through it on my way to Logo. [Note to self: Use a v-chip for Camille's articles.]

In any event, how terribly sad that all Camille has to add at the point in time when most Democrats are recognizing a need to come together is this vitriol. How does spewing forth irrational hatred about a public figure admired by so many Americans advance any one's agenda (other than the Republican's)?

  • Baby mama...

[Read the article: Fox News calls Michelle Obama "Obama's baby mama"]

Truly, how Salon can call foul on something like this after publishing Camille Pagila's rant on Hillary yesterday is beyond my understanding! Folks, please call an editorial meeting and try to adopt some kind of uniform standards for covering the political arena. Right now you're one big ghetto mess.

  • Oops...

[Read the article: Fox News calls Michelle Obama "Obama's baby mama"]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Sweet jesus, I just read the rest of the posts and checked out the history. I hadn't realized Michelle previously introduced herself using the term "baby daddy" to describe Barack. Alex -- the correct way to report the incident is to say "in an apparent reference to Michelle Obama's prior use of the term 'baby daddy', Fox News posted a caption which read..."

There. Now we have all the facts in one place and the readers can actually decide if this is racism or if this is using the same humor Michelle tried to use to her advantage when it suited her.

  • In spite of it all..

He does make it hard to dislike him sometimes. Very good speech, very important things to say out loud.

  • Endless cycle...

[Read the article: Pipe down, Cindy McCain]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

By the way Joan, you're the press, right?. So when you repeat rumors about black love children and drug addiction in a column like this, you're not having a side bar conversation with a friend at the water cooler. You're actively participating in re-focsuing the campaign off real issues and on to nonsense. Before I read your column I had not heard either of those rumors, nor do I care about them whether or not they're true. But now I've heard them, so have lots of other people. You'll be quoted and linked, the story will go round and round, candidates will have to address and readdress.

I'm convinced that one major source of voter turnoff is the press just constantly recirculating this shit to fill web pages and air time. Stick to covering what the candidates say and do and keep out of the rest of it. And if there isn't anything news worthy to say today, then maybe think about shutting up.

  • Hillary's ALREADY the role model...

[Read the article: Pipe down, Cindy McCain]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

And as for the "inexplicably" high negatives Michelle Obama has in polling data, just check with Hillary Clinton for an explanation. She'll explain to you what happens when a prospective first lady has earned a law degree and doesn't stay home to bake cookies.

But of course the irony is that Hillary's experience is paving the way for Michelle, isn't it? If only to teach her the value of "softpedaling" the strong woman side by reinventing yourself on The View.

  • Why does Salon get to decide what's an issue?

[Read the article: Who's afraid of Michelle Obama?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

What's the big deal about saying someone is the descendant of slaves? WASP's say they are the descendants of original settlers. Jew's say they are the descendants of Russians or Germans or Poles or whatever. Italians and Irish settlers point to their immigrant heritage.

Race will be an issue in this campaign ONLY if news outlets and websites with nothing better to do continue to stoke the issue by running material like this.

If Salon believes that Michelle OBama's race is irrelevant, treat it that way by refusing to print material that just fans the flames. Or better still, just report the facts about her background, which are pretty impressive and leave it at that.

  • I'd like to spend time reading this letter and all the responses but...

I'm due back on planet earth, where I have a real job.

  • Oy...

[Read the article: I'm sleeping with my best friend's fiancé ]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

The liberal use of the term "best friend" in this letter terrifies me that there's a one in a million chance I might be a "mere acquaintance" of the letter writer. If so, imagine how she treats ME?

Truly Cary, what were you thinking? You don't make up for deception and betrayal by remaining a silent friend. You reveal your betrayal, apologize and let your friend decide whether she wants to have anything further to do with you. Isn't that the least the LW should do?

  • It's not the heat, it's the constant self-criticism...

[Read the article: Why I hate summer]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Summer isn't a season...it's a 3 month long conversation with our own naked bodies. Summer fashion isn't clothing..it's foreplay. Summer is the reason we have a self-image at all.

And it's the reason we all need to get comfortable in our own skin -- love our imperfections, or get plastic surgery, or psychotherapy, or just drink alot.

Learn to love yourself and summer is a blast!

  • The worst, I think...

[Read the article: Why the iPhone is the best and worst e-book reader ever ]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

I downloaded the reader and Frankenstein. Yuch. I can't imagine reading a book on this thing. It's headache inducing. No matter how I adjusted it, the text seemed too small or too big. I need to see the whole page when I read a book. I need to understand the length of an entire paragraph before I start to read it. I think my brain wants to evaluate how much concentration is being asked before it will be allowed to pause again. Also, I want to "curl up with a book" as they say and rest the book in my lap or on the bed -- hard to do that with the iPhone -- it's too far away.

On the other hand, reading The New York Times on the iPhone is amazingly good. Don't know why this is so since I hated the book reader so much, but that was my impression.
