Your next assignment....
[Read the article: The "Rezko" game]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Glenn -- Since you don't seem to feel very inquisitive about the whole real estate transaction thing, here are a few questions I'd like answered about the whole affair:
1. Was this really a partnership? Was there a decision made by Obama and Rezko to jointly purchase the 2 parcels? Who contacted whom about the whole deal in the first place? is there a partnership agreement? How EXACTLY did the $300,000 price reduction for the Obamas come about?
2. What kind of investment is this vacant lot? Can anything actually be built on it? If so, what? And what about now that Rezko has sold a piece of the land to Obama -- how did that affect what can be built on what's left?
3. Has anything actually been built on the lot? Why not? We've just been through one of the hottest residential real estate markets in history. Why didn't Rezko take advantage of
the market to build? (Or did Rezko essentially agree not to build so as to provide the Obamas with a large backyard?)
Inquiring minds really do want to know, Glenn. So get out your running shoes and start asking some smart and tough questions.

Good grief...
[Read the article: Can the Clinton campaign take the heat?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Gee, Alex, if you really think that this memo was put out to "complain" about Obama because the Clinton campaign can't "take the heat", you need to get off the political beat and on to, oh I don't know, celebrity STD's maybe. I (erroneously) assumed Salon had more sophistication.

Get a life...
[Read the article: What Clinton once said about tax returns]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]About 40 people who write to Salon care about whether Hillary releases her tax returns today, April 15th, or the 12th of never. Nobody else.
The fact is that she'll release them if and when she thinks it is most beneficial for her campaign to do so -- no sooner, no later. That's exactly what ALL politicians do. It's called fighting to win. And I'm sure she doesn't care one bit about what she said to or about Rick Lazio. Nor should she.
Maybe it's just that I am old enough to remember that the Clintons gave ALL Democrats something to sing about when they ended the 12 horribly painful years of Reagan and Bush in 1992. I remember how grateful most of us were that Bill and Hillary were as good at politics as the Republicans. Better in fact. Well the game hasn't changed one bit simply because Barack Obama has appeared on the scene. In fact most of the evidence that I see is that he is the same old type of politician we're used to in this country (witness his dealings with Tony Rezko), but that he's not experienced enough in national politics to understand that he's the ONLY one talking the Kumbaya language. Wake up folks! The Republicans are preparing to have him (and Mrs. Kumbaya) for LUNCH!
Something tells me we'll all be very grateful before long that Hillary is as good at this as she is.

Great show
[Read the article: "Project Runway": The rundown]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I think the contestants often look "bored" because this show, unlike other competition shows, really bears out the adage about genius being mostly perspiration and a little inspiration. And certainly the final 3 were all geniuses. The work of putting these creations together must be hard and, yes, tedious sometimes, so I didn't mind seeing this aspect. Anyway, I was completly awed by their talent.

FINALLY!!!
[Read the article: Some free advice for Obama]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I am quite sure I have not read a single article in this entire campaign in Salon or elsewhere with this tone of taking Obama to task on his statements and behavior. What a breath of fresh air!!
One point of order, I'm not sure it's fair to regard Obama any longer as the "favorite" to win the nomination.

Where's the indignation??
[Read the article: Some free advice for Obama]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Why don't Obama supporters tell us what they think about the Rezko deal? I never see that addressed directly. I mean, aren't they the least bit embarassed that the candidate of change they go nutso for took a BIG favor from a sleazy influence-peddler type? There isn't ANY dispute about the basic facts. Obama SOUGHT THIS GUY OUT to help him buy a house that he could not otherwise have afforded. And this guy basically bought a big back yard for the Obamas, without being compensated in any way for it (other than, of course, the good will and continued access to the Senator it undoubtedly bought him).
How many Obama supporters could get this kind of help to buy a house that's out of their price range?
And this didn't happen 30 years ago like Whitewater. It happened AFTER Obama was elected to the Senate and after he had clearly put himself forward as a contender for higher office. How could the president of the Harvard law review and his sanctimonious wife be so stupid? Or, more likely, so craven?
I mean, please, someone take the bait on this, because I'm not getting how you can still love this man knowing that he did this and that he, for months, dismissed it as merely a "boneheaded" mistake. And that each new detail that comes out is obviously more and more damaging to his image -- i.e., he withheld damaging information about the whole affair. How can this NOT have changed at least some minds about the guy?
