285 Palestinian deaths are not enough to cause Hamas to renounce its policy of violence against Israel. 285,000 Palestinian deaths might be enough but, knowing Hamas, even that is doubtful. Israel has made peace with Fatah and with most of its other Arab neighbors. But Hamas is committed to the destruction of Israel and, unfortunately, it is accomplishing the destruction of its own people. Hamas will never learn, and the Palestinians will never learn until they dump Hamas. Until then, my Palestinian friends, Hasta La Vista, baby.

Their attacks have been particularly shameless against the two main questioners at Obama's Town Hall meeting yesterday in Florida -- the young student who has been a part-time employee of McDonald's for the past 4-1/2 years, and the lady whose family is now homeless and sleeping in a car. Republicans have truly become The Party of Obstruction and Destruction. That's all they have left to offer.

Americans are furious about the Right-Wing "Conservative" economic ideology that has gotten us into this mess over the past eight years, and about the Republicans' current "bipartisanship" where exactly three Republican Members of Congress voted for the Stimulus Package which has the support of nearly 70% of the American people. FDR told liberal leaders: "I agree with you, I want to do it, now make me do it." What liberals today must realize is how destructive and recalcitrant Right-Wingers are. On every issue from the Fairness Doctrine to More Spending instead of Tax Cuts For the Rich, Liberals should be pushing Obama to disregard the Republicans and get major legislation passed with his Democratic majorities to counter-act the enormous damage Conservatives have done to America over the past eight years.

Beltway journalists and TV pundits will have much less influence as long as President Obama keeps going out and doing his local Town Hall meetings in Indiana, Florida, etc. Obama can use the bully pulpit of the White House to reach out to the people, over the heads of the press, and create the major nightly news headlines and the political momentum to get his programs passed.
