It reminds me .....
[Read the article: The right-wing brain in action]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]of the same mentality pointed out in a seminal book 'Europe' by Norman Davies. In it he points out the attitude of the people who lived in the mountains towards those who chose to live in the coastal areas is the same as the 'bushites' attitudes are towards the Middle East. Davies then goes on to point out it has affected European history for centuries in a negative way. Nothing really new just the sound of lazy thinking - again.

Thanks for the laugh...
[Read the article: The right-wing brain in action]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]"some facts indeed!
Talk about fantastical thinking! I have yet to hear a coherent explanation of what you lefty visionaries forsee happening once we capitulate and leave the Middle East to its own devices. Some kind of nirvana I expect, like you envisioned after the end of the cold war. We followed your advice, let our guard down and unsurprisingly 9/11 ensued."
--Thats because you dont recognize any fault in your right wing friends. The telltale sign is that you think if we leave we capitulate. How about we leave and let them decide themselves what they want. But I have family members like you who when they visit think they can tell me what I can do in my own house. Henceforth they usually leave pissed off because I am no pushover. And your revisionism of Bush's ignoring the threat of what they might do is blamed on us as liberals? Thanks for the laugh - it wont fly here.
"True realists like Vice President Cheney and the Neoconservatives were warning throughout this period that we had to remain vigilant and actively combat evil, whatever shape it took. President Bush takes this as an article of his deeply religious faith."
--Here again you think you have something to talk about when you have nothing. Cheney and friends havent been right about ANYTHING in the Iraq war, from the last throws of insurgency to the 'bad' reporting which ignored the painting of a school as opposed to the killing of American soldiers. If its a matter of what to focus on we are not fooled that easily.
"Who turned out to be right? The Neoconservatives or the panglossian liberals, who in some demented Orwellian distortion warp now call themselves realists!"
-- nabalzbbfr
--As I noted before you wouldnt recognize reality until you get hit over the head with it. And come to think of it thats just what happened in Nov 2006 so I take back my qualifier. The fantastical thinking in here is the face you see in the mirror.

Hard to Believe...
[Read the article: Various items]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]"No matter how far one takes the satire, they always exceed it. "
This has been the hallmark of the Bush presidency. It will be their legacy. No matter how many times they scream (and yes, that is what they have begun to do, repeatedly) about the glorious accomplishments of their dear 'Leader'. Those pesky facts which completely and totally contradict them will continue to stand in their way. I think this is also why you dont see better comedy routines on SNL or other TV shows. Its just so surreal its hard to write stuff which takes it to an extreme because we are already there.
"Jim Webb had repeatedly asked Condoleezza Rice whether the administration believes it has the authority to attack Iran militarily without Congressional authorization. Has the administration ever responded to that inquiry?"
No they have not responded and will not respond. They do want to keep that option on the table. As always they will look for any excuse to attack Iran to try and beat away the wolves gathering at the White House door. The administration thought they had a great opportunity when the British sailors were 'captured'.The British had to tell them to back off. Then when the sailors were released through the dreaded process of negotiation the Bushites had a fit. How dare the British prove them wrong by actually talking to Iran. It only served to prove that diplomacy does sometimes work. And the new suits and gift bags were a nice touch.
As the Bush presidency continues to spiral down the proverbial drain I think we will continue to see more and more shrill comments and screams of 'Look, over there its a...(whatever)' to try and distract the bright light of day from their criminal deeds. And this means more and more lost evidence. The time for impeachment is here and for the whole lot of them.

San Francisco is the military's fault !!
[Read the article: A beautiful mosaic of anti-blogger hatred]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]All the gays individuals being in San Francisco is the fault of our military. Thats where they process the 'undesirables' when they discover them in the armed services.

Or Perhaps....
[Read the article: National Review's new tough guy, Mark Hemingway]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]A nice title might be... The GOP's Cafe Machismo. - Where Our Conversation is King.
It nicely fits the neo-con cult thought, pulls in the supposed casual conversation idea, and exposes the asinine postulate that they are just 'joking'.

re: until....
[Read the article: 9/11 Commission: Our investigation was "obstructed"]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Someone is willing to do something about this lawless administration its good to know you keep connecting the dots Glenn. The stench which prevails from DC today will one day be eliminated or this country will become a parody of itself. I feel like I'm in a western waiting for Clint Eastwood to show up.

No surprise to those who have been paying attention
[Read the article: Major revelation: U.S. media deceitfully disseminates government propaganda]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]It is as one author has noted the age of American Unreason. We have been fed sound bites of 'information' and told to accept it as the truth. Sadly most individuals have not decided to question the 'news' we get from the major networks. I can only hope that enough people screaming about the lack of real reporting will awaken the American public. That is if they can stop worrying about the price of....(take your pick)...gas prices, heath care costs, making their mortgage payment, etc.

re: scooter and hypocracy.....
[Read the article: Events next week -- NYC and D.C.]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Now thats funny scooter. Please note we didnt question McCain's patriotism, his maleness, or threaten him with being guilty of sedition. Take that log out of your own eye before you point out the speck in anyone elses.
